Chapter 10

Growing up, Gale never heard things from Yanarym. Not a single complaint. Yet, right now, she is telling her flaws about their perfect relationship. It’s funny how this girl says that Spencer is not for her, knowing that the whole university sees both of them as the perfect campus couple.

"...Gale, what should I do?... I can’t really fall in love with him. I tried, for years...I did my best to be fitted to him. But, yet, it is not love." She started crying which made Gale in turmoil.

"H-hey, i-it’s alright, do you want us to buy some drinks and food? Let’s settle in my place then tell me everything, okay?" Gale comforted her by tapping her back and Yanarym nodded obediently.

"Okay."

"Since we haven’t seen each other for weeks, how about we also celebrate, I’ll treat you. I had my salary from one of my part-time jobs. Let’s buy alcohol and a box of fried chicken." She blurted out excitedly. Yanarym’s eyes shined and showed Gale a golden card.

"Spencer gave this to me. We can use this for other foods." She said innocently and Gale scratched her head feeling uncomfortable using someone else’s money.

Gale ascertained that her friend was living so well, like a princess like she usually does because of her own boyfriend’s support. If ever Yanarym straightened her head and was convinced that she doesn’t really love Spencer. Based on her personality, and on how Gale knew her, Yanarym would break up with him. Then what? How can she live? Maybe Gale can support Yanarym but she cannot entirely provide her, her life that she once had. This life of comfort and riches, Yanarym would lose it all if she broke up with her boyfriend. Gale feigned a smile as she thought of this.

Both of the girls had no vehicle to move them from one place to another so they just walked and commuted. They got into the cheap apartment of Gale around eleven o’clock because they stopped by at the convenience store as they headed to the destination. The original had been here for once or twice, Gale knew that Yanarym was not used to places like this but said no complaint regarding the small room. Even though everything around was cheap, it’s still a clean space, so there were no cockroaches, rats especially spiders that the original hated the most. They settled on the floor since the area was small there was no other furniture other than the folding bed and small table.

"Pardon for intrusion," Yanarym said and rested her on the soft thin foam that Gale is using to sleep. She wandered her eyes around, remembering the apartment she had herself back when she was alive in her first life. This was much better looking than hers if she would be living alone. She could guarantee that she would not clean her place unless three weeks had passed and trash and spoiled food were all over the floor.

"Here are the plates and cups we can use." Gale put down some utensils then opened the bag of chips with different flavors. Yanarym watched Gale prepare everything, since that was the original’s attitude, she had to act like one. The original literally didn’t lift a finger all her life, everyone did anything for her. She was a princess--- an entitled one and no one points it out for her. She thought she had to live as a princess and every person who knew her, made her feel like a princess.

She had such... a very relaxing role to play. Unlike those characters in the other worlds, Yanarym had to work hard to fulfill the originals’ wishes. But this original wish, puzzling Yanarym, she had to make the male lead fall in love... was that literal? Did the original like Hansel? Yanarym didn’t think so. She was willing to try to collect Hansel but as she mentioned, if she wanted it, things wouldn’t go her way. How could she ruin the first impression with the male lead? It was a critical interaction. She had to revise her plan, from pursuing the male lead, she would just find out what the original meant.

It was so unlikely for the character to know that they were a character unless that was the concept of the story --- isn’t that right?

Guide-sama: "Yes."

"That means that she must not mean that it was Hansel that she was pertaining to, right?"

Guide-sama: "I can’t answer that."

"So, she was not pertaining to Hansel at all, right?"

Guide-sama: "I’m not sure."

"Can’t you clarify that for me?"

Guide-sama: "Yes, I am trying to find what the original meant by that."

What characteristic of the male lead did the original want Yanarym to find? If Yanarym is based in the book, the only moment that the original and the male lead met was at the graduation party. Where she saw Hansel and Gale were having a dispute, because Spencer confessed his affection towards Gale and Gale... she kissed Spencer back. That was caught by the original and Hansel.

Other than that, the original only knew Hansel based on Gale’s description, the original sole purpose in the story was to become Gale’s ranting person. Meaning every time that something would happen to Gale, the original would be there to listen - always. Her role was to be the supporting best friend for the female lead. And Gale would only talk about her problem, no one but the original. So, when Hansel was courting Gale, the original knew almost most of the details. of their love story. In short, the original was like a human diary for Gale.

Let’s see, Yanarym baffled - Hansel compared to Spencer. She doesn’t see any specific thing that can make Hansel out-qualify Spencer as the best boyfriend that a woman could have. If she excludes Spencer from being sexually active outside their relationship, he is a better partner than Hansel. Apparently, disregard that statement; cheating Spencer was far preferable to psychotic Hansel.

Find someone like the male lead... Male lead... She knew that the original was not aware of how psychotic the male lead is, right? So, maybe the original liked Hansel’s demureness? But, Yanarym doesn’t want to associate with the male lead! He might have marked her an ’x’ on his list. She doesn’t want to be targeted by him!

"So, tell me, what’s going on with you and Spencer?" Gale asked as she prepared everything on the mini table. Yanarym dismissed her thoughts and smiled at the female lead. She took the cup and poured some alcohol on it then without blinking she poured it on her mouth. The bitterness of the drink made her squinted and after swallowing the liquid, she felt that her throat was burning hot.

She took the cup of juice and drank it immediately. Gale observes how Yanarym drank the alcohol with one gulp and laughs at her reaction afterward. Her expression was screaming that she wanted candy instead of alcohol. Gale let her drink another cup and another --- eventually, Yanarym stopped on her own.

Yanarym’s face started to glow bright red and her drunken husky voice could be heard. She put both her elbows on the table and rested her chin on her palm looking at Gale, smiling so innocently and charming, she’s already drunk.

"Gale~ you know... I can’t fall in love~" she said, sounding like a child complaining that her toy got stolen by someone. "Spencer is a good person and all... but I don’t know, I don’t know what love is. I like him~ I really like him, when he pets me, he’s really-really-really sweet to me, sometimes 10he’s cute... I don’t like it when he is mad... but I can’t say I am in love." She said drunkenly and played with her cup.

"Maybe you already love him, Rym, you just don’t admit it to yourself." Gale changed Yanarym’s cup from alcohol to juice.

"Really? Then, is it normal that even if I know that he is having sex with someone right now, I am not mad? I don’t get jealous... It doesn’t hurt." Gale was frozen hearing her.

"...he what? What did you say?" Gale blurted out after hearing her say those. Having -- sex with someone? What is that supposed to mean?! He’s cheating on her?!

"I mean, why does it feel so normal not to feel any pain? Or expectations from him? Can you call that love?"

"No-No, get back Rym. Answer me, is he cheating on you?" Gale asked angrily while holding her shoulders.

"You’re hurting me~" she pouted and stared at her with misty eyes. Gale lets her shoulder go but remains angry at this revelation. All this time, she thought, he was a good person, but what? "You look mad..." Yanarym said drunkenly. Gale shot her a glare.

"I just heard that he is CHEATING WITH MY BEST FRIEND! Am I supposed to be happy with this?!"
