Chapter 128
Matteo was vexed, he was so mad that he wanted to just kill Kraig on hand but he couldn’t, if he did, he knew Yanarym would rather die.
That girl---she liked Kraig very much too---how could she adore this human boy so much? Matteo tried his best to make this young man go away, and now he returned.
Matteo concluded that no matter what he did to alter their fate, they would always cross paths. He decided to wait for Yanarym’s death... and let her die most peacefully and then snatch her soul to ascend her before reincarnation.
He was still waiting... and this curse would not let her soul be at peace, so that was why he was trying his best to dissipate it. To make her pain go away, and if it was all gone, he would propose to her and will kill her himself.
Her fate, Yanarym’s fate---would always be dying in the hands of her most beloved person. He couldn’t wait for that. He rather is the one to end her than someone else did.
"But this wouldn’t happen if not for the two of you," Matteo mumbled ominously, peering at Kraig and Lyndon. These two and the other girls... made Yanarym suffer so much.
"What do you mean?" Lyndon asked, receiving Matteo’s predicament eyes.
"... since you are here, you might as well tell me where the other girl is." Instead of answering, Matteo shifted his eyes to Yanarym and saw another black spot appearing at her neck. He immediately purified the holy water that was turning black.
"Who?" Kraig and Lyndon pressed their lips, another girl, who was that?
Professor Lena who was quietly observing the three eyes widened in realization. The girl! The other girl! Tiana! It was Tiana! The other girl with them on that fire! She remembered clearly that Matteo said that the fate of the four of them was intertwined.
"Tiana? Is it Tiana?" She exclaimed and Matteo nodded.
"Yes,"
"Why?" Lyndon asked, "Why is Tiana involved here?" Lyndon asked again.
"She cursed Yanarym to death, that’s her involvement here," Matteo answered.
"Tiana could never do these things." Kraig rebutted, he may end things with Tiana in a short time. But his impression of Tiana could never be this evil. "She may be bad but she couldn’t kill anyone, especially Yanarym, she pities Yanarym."
"Pity? Certainly not. That woman won’t have second thoughts about killing my wife." Matteo creased his brows, "Rym can only live because she’s under my protection. Without this space, she would have died many days ago. The person who cast this curse on her must die for her to live."
"...are you saying you would kill Tiana?"
"If she’s the one who caused this all," Matteo answered without contemplation. Lyndon and Kraig who were once associated with Tiana felt wrong, although they didn’t care as much as before to her. Tiana dying because of mere speculation of Matteo would be too unfair.
"...you can’t do this, Tiana is innocent!" Kraig declared, "She may not be a saint but she’s not a killer."
"I don’t care about what you think! Tell me where she is and I would judge if she did or didn’t!" Matteo lowered his tone but stressed each word he said. "Where is she?! I’ve been looking for her for days but I couldn’t find her at all!" Then, it hit them, Kraig and Lyndon both silenced.
Where she was... Tiana, where was she? That was right, they haven’t seen her either. Since they’d come back from the academy, they haven’t seen her. She was not attending classes for the whole time Yanarym wasn’t in the classroom. Was it possible? Was it really Tiana who did this to Yanarym?
"Turf, she’s definitely on her turf," Lyndon answered, his eyes staggered on the floor as he began to condemn himself for realization.
If Tiana did this, he probably evoked her to do so. He was the last person she talked to, and their last conversation was regarding their break-up and his true feelings that he wanted Yanarym more than her. She must be mad at Yanarym, so she cursed her to death. Because of him... Lyndon uplifted his sight and looked at Yanarym’s state. This was all because of him.
Why Yanarym though?! If Tiana was furious, she could curse him instead! He was the one who broke her heart!
"Where is that?" Matteo ignored their daunting faces.
"I don’t know, she never showed it to me. But it is like her hideout, her safe-haven..." Lyndon replied, then suddenly the capsule moved, when they turned their attention to Yanarym she was writhing inside, the once transparent water covering the entire capsule turned black.
"RYM!" They screamed in unison, Matteo popped the capsule and caught her lethargic body before hitting the ground. She was shaking, convulsing. Matteo put her body on the ground and handicapped her.
"S-stop! It hurts! No! Please!!" She screamed so weakly but so desperately.
"Yanarym! What are you doing?! GET OFF OF HER!" Kraig yelled and tried to push Matteo away from Yanarym but he was thrown outside the door instead.
"Step back! Get out! She can’t be contaminated! Get out!" Matteo screamed at them as he tore up her clothes and saw the big black spot inundating her entire stomach.
"RYM!" Lyndon was about to rush to her seeing that she was agonizing so much. Professor Lena who was watching couldn’t help but cry.
The door closed, Matteo changed the space from her room to a spring mountain. He hastily lifted her body to the spring and bathed her in the lukewarm spring. The black spots faded and the water in the spring became black, and Matteo couldn’t purify it anymore. The quoko got powerful, the curse was fiercer, the person who was cursing Yanarym amplified the curse again!
His eyes narrowed in anger, he made another capsule for Yanarym and didn’t bother dressing her up, he changed the setting of the space again and opened the door. Kraig and Lyndon quickly entered and saw Yanarym’s naked body back to normal, she had stabilized but Matteo’s expression was nowhere calm.
"Find her! FIND THAT GIRL! It would be Rym or that woman would die until dawn!"
Tiana just finished another ritual at Yanarym’s altar of the curse. She felt her life was depleting, she slammed her body on the ground and wiped the tears on her eyes. She woke up from the same dream, she was killed again, her body felt like it was butchered and cooked from boiling water. She kept screaming but Francis never listened and Mia ... was smiling at her anguish.
The pain --- she wanted the pain to go away and passed it all on to Yanarym yet she could only curse her to death. Tiana’s eyes were drooping, her body felt tired, she wanted to sleep but she was scared to get back on that dream. Where Francis would betray her, hurt her---she was scared to undergo the unending misery and despair.
Tiana was terrified of Francis and loathed Mia, she hated that woman to her core! As she was fighting the urge to sleep, the door banged open. She directed her eyes to the man who entered the cabin.
"Marcus?"
It was Matteo, his eyes were dark and his jaw was clenched, his lips were pressed together and he was staring straight into Tiana’s eyes. She felt the sinister intention that he was sending her, the eeriness crawled to her skin to her spine. Although the surrounding had only dim lights because the light source was only candles, the displeasure in his expression was perceptible in Tiana’s eyes.
She knew Marcus, she would always see him with Yanarym. Tiana envied Yanarym to have such a caring person despite them not being blood-related. She constantly begrudged Yanarym--- why does Yanarym have all the love in this world?! While her---Tiana scowled, no one loved her. And it was not like she did something bad in the past, these people did her wrong! And now, she was still suffering!
"M-marcus?" Her voice was weak, "What are you doing here?" She redirected her eyes to the altar. Of course, he was here to save Yanarym. She shouldn’t have asked the obvious.
"You cursed Rym?" A low-baritone, a grievous tone echoed in the four sides of the corner. His eyes were already enough to make Tiana intimidated and hearing his voice made her tremble in fear. "Make it stop." He added dangerously and stepped forward.
Both of them were silenced with that accusation. Tiana was terrified but her resolve to have her vindication was much greater than her fear for Marcus’ unusual vibe.
"No, I can’t... I won’t stop it. " She stood up and faced him. "She has to die!" She screamed loudly, gritting her teeth. Then, a strong force abruptly pulled her and smashed her body to the wall. She shrieked in pain landing on the ground, because she was weakened as her body was being devoured by the curses, she couldn’t fight at all.
