World After Worlds
Chapter 352 - 352: § NOT THAT BAD §

Lyndon was waiting for a message to appear on his communicator. He was staring at it for a while. With him leisurely drinking his tea in the veranda the sun was setting and after a long day at the academy, the sky was painted in red, yellow and orange. He could relax by himself. Or maybe not?

He said to Tiana that he wanted to be alone but his actions were anticipating as if someone would appear outside of the communicator he was staring at. He wanted company but there was a specific person in his mind.

Three days no contact, a week without seeing each other, then he saw her hours ago. She seemed to have no care in the world other than that bastard. Her eyes were stuck to that bastard. Lyndon remembered how passionate her expression was when she stared at Kraig. When she turned to look at him, her eyes were void of emotion, it was short counter. So, he might be just overthinking but he could not dissuade the after image on his head.

Did she fall in love with Kraig? Is she betraying me? Because I love Tiana? She betrayed me? She would always say she loves me, did she lie?

Lyndon's hand that was holding the tea cup tightened its grip. Ever since he saw her at the academy earlier, he could not think of anything else. Tiana was coaxing him thinking that he was jealous of Kraig throughout the time they were together. Although that reason wasn't right, Lyndon did not correct her. What else is the reason for him to be in this sour mood if not for Tiana?

As he was lost in his thoughts his communicator suddenly twinkled a yellow light. Unconsciously, he opened it without blinking.

"Lyndon," His expectant eyes glowered. Then, it immediately vanished, changed to a nonchalant demeanor.

On the holographic screen floating, there was a woman who appeared to be in her early thirties. She had a red-hair that was neatly tied into a bun. Her vibrant yellow eyes were seething elegance and strict personality. That contrasts the soft smile on her face that was gentle. Her pale-jaded skin was glowing and despite the low-quality image she was reproducing on the screen, no one could deny the beauty she had.

"Good afternoon, Mother." Lyndon greeted with no visible reaction. Her mother's smile widened,

"Did you have dinner, Son?" She asked.

"I am about to, what's wrong Mother? Why'd you call?" Receiving her son's cold welcome Eva only laughed. Her son, the colder he gets means the shier he is. As his mother of course, she could not say she understood everything about Lyndon. However, also, as his mother, she still could claim, she knew a few of it.

When she remembered why she made this call, her laugh faded and her smile lessened.

"You could have dinner here, it's been a while since we had a meal together." Lyndon paused seeing the gloomy expression of his mother. This was not the first time this happened where his mother would be the one who would initiate on calling him and inviting him home.

Did that bastard Kraig visit the town's hall again without invitation? That fucking bastard hurt his family again? His mother would not have called him if Kraig had not created trouble at the town's hall.

Then, Yanarym…

She should have called him.

In the beginning of his agreement with Yanarym, she would often visit him at home. She would heavily demand him to … do things to her. In exchange she would shackle Kraig into a relationship to prevent any development that could transpire between Kraig and Tiana. Including, he would receive information that she could gather by spying Kraig.

During the first month, there was nothing that important, in the following days, Kraig started making movements. In the second month, Yanarym told Lyndon that Kraig infiltrated the town's hall and told him to contact his father. Turned out, his father was harmed, though it was not a deep wound, still his father used quite a lot of mana that caused his health to be depleted.

Although Yanarym told him the news late, Lyndon could not turn back time and save his father from Kraig's attack. It was still useful news since he was able to heal his father's injuries. He even assisted the town's hall during the period of his father's recuperation.

Kraig's anger towards him and his family… Lyndon could not figure out the root of it at all. He made Yanarym investigate Kraig but there she returned to him only with a devastated heart. She was disheartened because she could not find out the truth. Since then, she became diligent in reporting to him what Kraig would do and his plans.

However, Lyndon was not certain when it started, but gradually, Yanarym was declining. The news she would bring regarding Kraig were less and trivial. Because of that he told her not to come to him if there was nothing important she would report.

…he had been telling her that every time she would visit him. Then, this was only the apparent moments where she had coincided with his command. She never followed and submitted when he told her not to come and see him.

Why was this recent period different? Why was she being obedient and not coming to annoy him?

Lyndon's eyebrows furrowed, immediately they were loosened. Surmised, Yanarym did not say anything to him. If Kraig really did go to the town's hall, she would inform him. She should have used this chance to come up to him. Yet, there was no news regarding Kraig recently. The contact of her reports were lessened to the point that she would just message him instead of calling. It was too frequent that in this week, she had not sent any news to him.

There was no better explanation than… she might have fallen to that bastard.

"Your father and I missed you. If Castor won't be injured you won't visit us here." Eva added seeing her son was immobilized and began to be immersed in his thoughts. She purposely made her tone sullen to gain sympathy from her seemingly apathetic son.

Lyndon, who was pulled out in trance, blinked his eyes, "Father is not injured?"

Eva smiled reassuringly, "Like I said, does it require for your father to be injured so you could visit?"

"That's not what I mean." Lyndon replied with a frown. He almost thought Yanarym betrayed him for not giving him warning with Kraig's attack but fortunately, there was no attack. Yanarym loves him, she promised him. He should not worry about unnecessary things. "I'm busy, I will go there if I have time."

But if that was the case, why won't Yanarym come and see him? It had been a week. She should have been agitated to see him yet when they saw each other only a glance of cold eyes was what he received from her.

Thinking about it. It was very maddening.

He gritted his teeth and sighed. He directed his eyes to his mother, "I went there last month." He said and lifted the teacup on his lips and took a sip. "This season is a busy time for me. I'm already in my third year, Mother."

Eva observed his son's strange reaction. He kept changing expressions from dire to brightened and it darkened again. There was a rumor running around, was it true that he was in a relationship?

She could ask him. Even though they are mother and son, she could not be nosy with his life. It had been like that since he was a child. Rather, she should try every means to bring him closer to the family. Fortunately, the summer was approaching. Castor, her husband had been sounding her out for them to take a vacation. Should she invite Lyndon to join? He had been learning at the academy earnestly. She even heard from the professors that there was a huge possibility that Lyndon could graduate as one of the top students in his course.

He was working hard, he needed vacation.

"How about the incoming summer vacation? Would you like to live here even just for a week? Or if you want to, we could travel somewhere." Lyndon let his mother finish her sentence.

"I already made plans." Seeing him reply without hesitation, Eva pursues her lips, she should understand, he is a grown-up already. Castor was worse when he was at Lyndon's age. But… her friend's sons and daughters were all sensible and caring to their mothers. She was cognizant Lyndon was an odd case but as a parent she was envious of those warm children.

If pregnancy was not that hard, she wished to have a daughter who was a little gentler than his son.

"For the entire two months?"

"Yes."

Nevermind, Lyndon was not as warm as others but he had a way to convey his affection to those who he cherished. Her son was not that bad… "Alright."
