Chapter 709: Chapter 35: The Great Purge
Miss Rabbit had her hopes pinned on "Life Simulator, beta version," and it’s not hard to see why.
In fact, when most of the Lords on the Bratis Continent heard this news, their first reaction was probably not much different from the young girl’s.
The army led by Solomon was now the strongest on the continent.
Although the Lady had been recruiting warriors and had the former Imperial Forest Guard Captain, Duren, in charge of training, and even though the Arias family’s financial situation had greatly improved, enabling Miss Rabbit to purchase better weapons and equipment,
the army she trained was still no match for those of the Wing Tribe, even with the addition of the Dark Hounds from the Double Rest Sect.
Therefore, it went without saying what would happen if they were targeted by the Wing Tribe.
The Lady felt all her good mood disappear in an instant.
She had planned to enjoy another seaweed bath in the afternoon, but now she only wanted to return to the castle, gather all her vassals, and discuss how to resist the Wing Tribe’s invasion.
Although Miss Rabbit felt that the discussion might not yield much, it was certainly better than sitting around and waiting for doom.
Fortunately, the young girl still had Li Yu.
And now, Miss Rabbit also remembered that the Prophet of the Double Rest Sect had mentioned letting him handle those Wing Tribe people.
But for the life of her, the Lady couldn’t figure out how Li Yu could defeat such a powerful army.
Blessings were nice, but a mere ten percent increase in strength wasn’t enough to overcome those naturally winged beings capable of flight.
Li Yu didn’t seem to have any intention of revealing his plans either; he just reassured the Lady not to worry and that he would investigate the matter further.
In the afternoon, Li Yu contacted Redio through the radio, who was still stationed at Lion Heart Castle.
He had been busy as well.
Before, the Wing Tribe had fiercely attacked the city, setting fires everywhere, but once they had taken it over, they did not cause further destruction.
So Redio and the other residents living in the city could breathe a sigh of relief for now, not having to worry about their personal safety anymore.
However, it was different for the nobles in the city; after recruiting allies, Solomon began to purge the nobles within the city.
It seemed that the patience of this Wing Tribe’s commander had run out; he gave a final deadline to those families who were still resisting or observing from the sidelines after the deadline.
No matter how long their history or how dazzling their glory, no matter how many family members there were, Solomon chose to execute them all.
The Royal Capital, which had only been peaceful for a short time, once again became a river of blood, and among those eventually listed for purge were two major surnames from the Twelve Great Nobles of the Empire.
They did not surrender until the last moment, and their mansions were stormed by the troops led by those nobles who had already surrendered; all the men of the Poshan Family in the Royal Capital died in battle, while the women took poison to kill themselves in advance.
The Dehaqiet family, meanwhile, used their connections in the city to send away women and children early on, leaving the men to fight to the last moment.
Solomon was not satisfied with the outcome; he had ordered a search within the city for the survivors of the Dehaqiet family, planning to behead them publicly.
And those who could provide any clues were to receive a substantial monetary reward.
While killing, Solomon also promoted many newcomers to fill the vacancies left by the old guard.
Recently, there had been a significant reshuffling of the upper echelons within Lion Heart Castle, so Redio had been continuously gathering intelligence.
When Li Yu asked about Solomon’s current strategic policies, Redio almost didn’t have to think, "Those Wing Tribe people, by recruiting noble allies, have basically taken over Red Plain."
"The elves had news yesterday too; with the assistance of a dragon, they’ve also taken the forestland and reclaimed their rule over it.
"However, it seems the Elf King Ilan has some disagreement with Solomon; Solomon wants them to lead their armies to Lion Heart Castle immediately, but Ilan wants to occupy all of the imperial towns and fortresses in the forestland before setting off."
"Ilan no longer wants to fight for Solomon?" asked Li Yu.
"It’s not exactly that, but the elves do prefer a more cautious approach to marching, and after reclaiming their homeland, they are not as enthusiastically driven.
"According to the information I’ve gathered, Ilan himself still harbors some ambitions, especially after hearing about his daughter’s death; he wants to fight all the way to Lion Heart Castle, but his subordinates do not support him as the elves have always detested war and slaughter."
"Solomon is somewhat displeased with Ilan and has been pressing the elves lately."
"For now, the imperial nobility has the upper hand in Golden Valley, but because they fear the Wing Tribe’s large army and the possible arrival of a dragon, they haven’t driven the dwarves back to their kingdom yet; both sides are currently in a stalemate.
"Solomon’s next target is Elk Valley. But the Pangluosi Family from Elk Valley has just sent envoys to Lion Heart Castle, and their family members who stayed here have already surrendered."
"Now, everyone is speculating that the Pangluosi Family probably wants to negotiate with Solomon, and as long as Solomon guarantees their interests in the new empire, they will join the Wing Tribe directly.
"This means Solomon’s next target is likely the new land; Kieren said he’s been frequently reviewing maps of the new land recently."
"What about the western territories?" Li Yu asked, "How does Solomon view the western territories?"
"He thinks that this land isn’t very valuable and that it’s quite easy to conquer." Redio said, "Kuren has already died, Golden Valley is still in battle, and Hels with his army is now trapped in Elk Valley.
"Once the Pangluosi Family switches to the Wing Tribe, those ten thousand soldiers of the western territories’ expeditionary army will be in danger, likely to be offered as a gift to Solomon. Afterwards, Solomon will probably have those nobles who have already submitted take this area down.
"But not in the near future, the new land holds much higher importance to him than the western territories," Redio analyzed.
This also coincided with Li Yu’s previous views; however, according to the predictions of the Life Simulator, next month Solomon would lead a large army to flatten Green Field.
If this prediction is true, then something must have happened in between to change his mind.
Li Yu thought of the Wing Tribe warriors who had come to assassinate Miss Rabbit in Green Field previously; their identities seemed not so simple, especially the leader named Shajia, who seemed to be a prince.
But according to the intelligence previously relayed by Redio, the relationship between Shajia and Solomon was somewhat strained, and Li Yu was unsure whether Solomon would avenge Shajia, or to what extent he would go if he did.
