Chapter 640: Chapter 13 Basic Assumptions of Economics
Shi Yitong also introduced Li Yu to several colleagues from the business department, and they exchanged business cards.
Li Yu observed that employees from the same country or region still tended to interact more with people from their own country or region.
Previously, he had always thought that the headquarters of the Third Era were in the office building where he first went for an interview.
But in fact, according to Shi Yitong, that place could only be considered the headquarters for the China, while there were similar headquarters in other parts of the world.
The Third Era had a total of five regional headquarters, and the number of employees in the marketing department was always maintained at around fifty.
This meant that the company was extracting faith from fifty different universes at the same time.

Han Bin was not feeling well at the moment, having just witnessed a murder—and even crazier events were to follow.
Even though the victim had been pierced through the body with a blade, not a single drop of blood had been spilled, and the body had subsequently turned into a wooden sculpture resembling a Mummy.
At this time, the nearby waiters finally came over, and two of them together moved the wooden sculpture with a fruit knife sticking out of its chest out of the living room.
Another waiter went over and placed a new fruit knife on the fruit plate.
By then, the baby had been coaxed to sleep.
Meanwhile, Han Bin’s ears were still filled with conversations that sounded absurd to him.
For example, an Italian was asking his companion how the faith income for the last month had been.
Though both were speaking in Italian, Han Bin, who knew nothing of Italian, could somehow understand their meaning.
Ever since entering the living room, Han Bin’s temples had been throbbing, and sweat had almost soaked through his shirt.
Han Bin felt that his mental limit was nearly reached; although he still had not found Tang Mengjia, he decided to leave this eerie place and go out for some fresh air.
After making up his mind, Han Bin began to move toward the door, but just then, a somewhat familiar figure walked in from outside.
Han Bin’s pupils contracted; he recognized the newcomer as the HR from the Third Era, the woman named Xu Mengyuan.
The latter also spotted him.
Fortunately, they had not met before, and Han Bin had only collected some information about Xu Mengyuan in private, so she should not recognize him at the moment.
So Han Bin continued to pretend to be a waiter, going to serve drinks to another table of guests, but halfway there, Xu Mengyuan called out to him.
"You, come upstairs with me," she said.
"Upstairs?" Han Bin was taken aback at her words.
"That’s right," Xu Mengyuan seemed to have some urgent matter, and she had already stepped forward and walked on, not giving Han Bin a chance to refuse.
Han Bin hesitated for a moment, but then followed her.
Of course, the mansion would not only have this one living room; from the southwest corner, one could continue to the second floor.
The two of them, one after the other, made their way through the busy living room and up the winding staircase to a small bar outside.
Xu Mengyuan went straight in, and Han Bin followed closely after her, but to his surprise, the bar was deserted and there were no other people.
Xu Mengyuan went behind the bar, took an empty glass, and asked Han Bin, "What will you have?"
At that moment, Han Bin’s brain was racing, contemplating how a real waiter would respond.
However, before he could speak, he heard Xu Mengyuan continue, "How do you feel?"
"Feel about what?"
Xu Mengyuan opened a bottle of whiskey, sniffed it under her nose, and then poured half a glass, adding a bit of red pomegranate syrup, lime juice, and soda water.
"You’ve been standing down there for so long. You must have some thoughts, Officer Han."
Han Bin felt his heart sink instantly when he heard the last three words.
"You know me?"
"Of course," Xu Mengyuan swirled the glass gently, then sliced two pieces of lemon and placed them on the rim before pushing the newly mixed Daisy towards Han Bin.
"Two months ago, didn’t you send a girl named Hao Xiaoxiao to investigate our company? Of course, I would do a bit of homework too."
Han Bin caught the glass of Daisy but did not drink it. This wasn’t a TV show – in unfamiliar places, one obviously couldn’t drink something of unknown origin.
Seeing this, Xu Mengyuan smiled slightly, "It seems Officer Han has a deep misunderstanding about us. We are a law-abiding company and do not engage in illegal activities."
"Save those lies. I’ve heard too many of them," Han Bin said. "Just now, I saw a murder case downstairs."
"Really? You must have doubted it yourself whether what was pierced by the flying knife was really a person. And not long ago, you attacked a Magic Automaton, locking it in the trunk.
"If that were really a person, I’m afraid it would be a bad end for you..."
"You don’t need to threaten me," Han Bin said coldly. "I’ve had enough of your magic tricks.
"Since you knew I was coming so early, then everything that happened before must have been arranged by you, with the purpose of disrupting my thinking, making me believe I had gone mad."
"No, I didn’t expect you to come... otherwise, I would have stopped you early on," Xu Mengyuan sighed. "Among the three basic assumptions of economics, there is one called the economic man assumption.
"It assumes that every individual is rational, seeking benefit and avoiding harm. All economic theories and deductions are based on this assumption, but the behavior of human individuals is always uncontrollable.
"What on earth are you trying to say after such a big roundabout?" Han Bin said impatiently. "If you want to make a move, just do it directly, stop beating around the bush."
"What I’m trying to say is, sneaking in here tonight has brought you no benefit. What drove you to make such a decision?"
"I am a police officer," Han Bin said. "It’s my duty to catch bad people, like you."
Xu Mengyuan nodded, "Justice, one of the most basic and precious virtues of mankind. Come with me."
"Where to?" Han Bin said warily.
"You came here tonight looking for someone, right? I have asked for her permission, and she is also willing to meet you to clear up the misunderstandings between us."
"Tang Mengjia, she really isn’t dead and is here!" Han Bin’s face darkened upon hearing this.
Xu Mengyuan shook her head gently.
Then she led Han Bin to another guest room. Xu Mengyuan knocked on the door, and a young girl’s voice came from inside, "Come in."
It was a standard British accent.
Xu Mengyuan opened the door and led Han Bin inside, where he immediately saw the Indian young man who had previously driven the Aston Martin.
He was now on all fours, crouching on the ground, with a young girl sitting on his back with an authoritative expression.
She appeared to be about eleven or twelve years old, with a typical Anglo-Saxon appearance, wearing a luxurious princess dress that fell to her ankles.
