Chapter 593: Chapter 25 Special Incentive Methods
The second day dawned, and the nobles within the Solid Stone Castle awoke their attendants early, donned their clothes, armed themselves, and assembled in the open space to the south.
Ireya had slept late the night before after a pre-war council and discussing the matter of the traitor with Li Yu; she was still groggy when Sir Thomas woke her.
But hearing that the others were nearly ready, she also donned her armor with the help of Thomas.
As the Guard Captain fastened her shoulder armor, he said, "Lady Ireya, you should find yourself an Attendant."
"Hmm?"
"You’re entering battle more frequently, it would be best to have someone dedicated to help you put on and take off your armor, maintain your weapons, take care of your horse, and on the battlefield, an Attendant can fight alongside you and protect you when necessary."
"Ha, I haven’t really considered that," the Lady said as she moved her arms to feel the fit of the armor and told Thomas, "It’s a bit tight."
So, the Guard Captain adjusted the length of the belts.
"Now might be a good time to consider it, as you are a Dragon Slayer Hero, Champion of the martial contest. Many Nobles wish to send their sons to serve you, and you can choose one or two you favor when we return."
"You don’t want to stay by my side?"
"No, no, that’s not what I mean," Thomas hastened to say, "I will always look forward to fighting alongside you, but I am your Guard Captain, I have other responsibilities and can’t be with you every moment like an Attendant."
"It’s okay." Miss Rabbit said, "I have Merlin."
"But Lord Merlin only returns once every two days, and he has to deal with matters of the Double Rest Sect, he can’t always be by your side. Most importantly, this is a way to forge closer ties with other Noble Families."
The Guard Captain paused, "Seeing as you don’t seem to have any plans to marry, why not take in a few promising young men from families you wish to befriend?"
"Hmm, now that you mention it, I really should find an Attendant," the Lady said, stroking her chin, "Thank you for the reminder, Sir Thomas."
"You’re welcome, offering you counsel is also my duty."
Thomas finished helping the young Lady with her Armor and handed over the final piece, her helmet.
Miss Rabbit didn’t rush to put it on, for then others wouldn’t be able to see her face.
She tucked the helmet under her left arm and, while yawning, exited the tent and went to where the army was gathering.
The Lady swept her gaze over the assembled nobles and then glanced at the large hand beside her, pausing briefly on this figure before moving on to address the gathered troops.
Apart from the two thousand men Ireya brought, who stood in orderly ranks, the rest had no formation and had simply gathered loosely in the area.
Most were merely farmers with minimal training, some without a piece of armor on them, their palms sweaty as they gripped their rudimentary weapons.
They looked anxious, like criminals awaiting their sentences.
Facing this, the Lady, as their Commander, felt it her duty to say something to boost the faltering morale.
She stepped forward and cleared her throat, "I am the daughter of Blood-Eye Ruse, keeper of the Green Field, Family Head of the Arias clan, Dragon Slayer Knight, Champion of the martial contest, Ireya, and I am also your Commander."
After listing her increasingly long titles, the Lady paused and then continued.
"Right now, Marquis Kuren and his army of ten thousand are in danger, trapped in the mountains ahead. Among them may be your Lords or kin. But worry not, we are going to rescue them!"
Miss Rabbit’s pre-battle address was succinct. After finishing, she raised her arm and shouted, "Victory belongs to the Western Territories!"
"Victory... belongs to... the Westerlands!"
Murmurs of agreement trickled through the crowd, with the majority coming from the members of the Arias family, cheering on their Lady.
The young girl noticed that the faces of the militiamen showed even deeper fear when she spoke of the danger Marquis Kuren and his army of ten thousand faced.
The Lady couldn’t help feeling somewhat embarrassed.
Just then, a burst of music suddenly reached her ears.
Everyone turned their heads, but no one could locate the source of the music.
It seemed to appear out of thin air, and the instruments used did not seem to be from the Bratis Continent; the melody was rousing.
"It’s sacred music, music from the Divine Country!"
A warrior from Green Field was the first to recover, speaking out excitedly while extending his left hand in a gesture of prayer.
Those around him quickly caught on, imitating the action, erecting their thumb and little finger, and thus the followers of the Double Rest Sect raised their hands as well.
Then someone noticed a figure appearing on a nearby arrow tower.
Miss Rabbit, holding a loudspeaker, stood at the highest point, overlooking the army below, her heart surging uncontrollably.
She had waited so long, endured countless dismissive glances and criticisms, just for this day—
The day when she could rock to her heart’s content!
Before departing from Green Field, Li Yu had asked her to write a song of battle, saying it might come in handy later, with just one requirement - it had to have momentum to inspire the listeners’ emotions.
And Miss Rabbit, upon receiving the task, immediately thought of rock music!
Nothing was more fitting than rock. Normally, it might seem noisy, but during times of uncertainty, it was definitely a strong medicine.
The song she picked from her repertoire was also a truly heavy-hitting bombshell.
—The theme song of the League of Legends season 4, Imagine Dragons’ "Warriors," to which Miss Rabbit had made some lyrical adjustments.
She changed the climax to "We are warriors from the Westerlands," and now she was belting it out from the arrow tower.
With the help of the loudspeaker, her voice echoed throughout Solid Stone Castle, bombarding everyone’s eardrums.
The nobles and warriors present were hearing rock music for the first time. Setting aside whether they could comprehend this thrilling form of music, just Miss Rabbit’s voice, which was beyond human norms, startled everyone.
Not to mention the music that seemed to come from nowhere, filling everyone with a profound sense of awe.
But that wasn’t all; as Miss Rabbit sang the last word, they all saw a fireball suddenly emerge in the sky behind her.
The fireball exploded violently, turning into a shower of sparks that scattered in the sky.
Then a second fireball rose, and this one was green.
The natives of the Bratis Continent had lived so long without witnessing such a celestial phenomenon; they were all momentarily stunned and lost in astonishment.
