Chapter 572: Chapter 4: About Making Videos in Another World After My Death, Entrusting a Friend to Post Them, and Becoming an Internet Celebrity
Due to the work being too unsaturated recently and the company still not turning a profit,
many new employees started to worry about the future of Bratis Culture Communication Co., Ltd., afraid that the company would dissolve in a few months, and that they would lose this dream job.
So, seeing the boss come to his senses and proactively bring up the issue, no one felt stressed. On the contrary, everyone actively offered suggestions and engaged in a lively discussion.
Zhang Hai even volunteered to go and watch over pool halls or KTVs, to earn extra money for the company.
Li Yu listened and responded indifferently, "Then you could just go directly, why should the company take a cut in the middle?"
Hao Xiaoxiao’s suggestion was quite similar, saying that when there isn’t much work, she could help the company take on some contracting work and do some coding.
Li Yu then looked towards Ma Yuhan, who was slightly nervous, "President Li, may I ask a question first?"
"Go ahead."
"What exactly is our company’s main business?" Ma Yuhan asked timidly.
Once she asked, the conference room fell silent because others wanted to know the answer too.
They had been on the job for over a month, yet they still had no clear idea of what the company did. Their daily work consisted of idling in the office and occasionally traveling on business, doing some investigations.
However, why those investigations were needed, Li Yu had not explained before, and they had not asked, leaving them all still in the dark.
After many investigations, Ma Yuhan and the others concluded that their targets had only one thing in common: regardless of their sex, identity, or financial condition, they were all close to death.
Li Yu did not hide the truth. "Indeed, you’re already employees of the company, and since you’ve been doing so well after joining for so many days, it’s time to let you know.
"The main business of our company is to provide terminal services to our targeted clients."
At this, Ma Yuhan, Zhang Hai, and Hao Xiaoxiao all looked at each other in disbelief.
"Terminal services, is it like end-of-life care?" Ma Yuhan asked again.
"Something like that."
"So does the company also hire external nurses and such? But I’ve noticed that some of our clients aren’t that well off... like the delivery guy, Ge Lipeng.
"He sends half his earnings from deliveries back home, and he spends the other half on all sorts of random materials to tinker with crafts.
"And there’s Zhu Zhigang, he’s just a security guard uncle, not high salary, and most of it he gives away to help others, like the old lady who picks up trash outside his neighborhood." Ma Yuhan said.
"Oh, our main business isn’t profitable, so the economic condition of the clients is not our focus."
After Li Yu answered and saw the three of them exchanging looks again, he added, "Our terminal services do not provide physical care, but rather focus more on the spiritual level, similar to the priests in Christianity.
"They send souls to heaven, while we send spirits to other worlds. Hmm, from this perspective, we do have some competition with them."
After Li Yu finished speaking, he noticed Ma Yuhan and Hao Xiaoxiao were staring at him, their eyes full of concern, as if they were almost writing ’Inquire about boss’s mental state’ on their faces.
On the other hand, Zhang Hai got excited immediately, "Oh, oh, oh, other worlds! Like One Piece, or Naruto, wouldn’t that be thrilling?! Do they have Demon Fruit there, boss, have you ever had one?"
"Their power levels aren’t that exaggerated. If I really had to compare, it would be closer to the kind of thing you see in Game of Thrones."
"What, so people there don’t wear clothes either?" Zhang Hai got even more excited.
"I didn’t mean that kind of close."
"Impressive, am I really doing such an amazing job?!" Zhang Hai mumbled to himself, only to notice the strange expressions on Ma Yuhan and Hao Xiaoxiao’s faces beside him.
"Don’t you guys think it’s cool?"
"It’s kind of... cool," Ma Yuhan managed to force out an awkward smile.
Hao Xiaoxiao didn’t smile but nodded nonetheless.
However, Li Yu could tell that their agreement was merely perfunctory; they clearly didn’t believe what he had just said.
Li Yu wasn’t surprised by this, as ordinary people would react this way upon suddenly hearing that the primary business of their company involved sending people to another world.
On the contrary, it was Zhang Hai’s immediate belief and subsequent excitement that was somewhat abnormal.
But no matter, with time and experience, they would come to believe.
Li Yu didn’t demonstrate any special abilities like a human translator or walking on water, since that wasn’t the focus of today.
Li Yu knocked on the table twice, "Alright, back to the main topic. Since the company’s main business isn’t profit-oriented, we’ll have to develop some side projects to make money.
"Previously, I tried making music for this purpose, but it didn’t work too well. Unless you have better ideas, I’m planning to turn to video creation."
The suggestion to create videos was first brought up by Lu Weijia, who was also a content creator with experience in this realm, understanding what most people liked to watch.
This resolved the main issue encountered during the music project, which was the cultural mismatch when directly transferring Bratis’ indigenous cultural works.
With him leading the project, the chances of success were quite significant.
Li Yu had a long chat with Lu Weijia on the radio, and Lu Weijia said he could take care of selecting topics, writing scripts, performing, and even filming and editing.
Although these tasks couldn’t be carried out beyond Bratis, Lu Weijia could prepare them on the other side. When Li Yu arrived, Lu Weijia would show them to him and explain the key points of shooting.
This way, once Li Yu returned, he could quickly get the hang of it and produce quality videos in the shortest time, and the cost would be low.
Li Yu briefly assigned the roles: Ma Yuhan would direct, Zhang Yanlin would be the cinematographer, Hao Xiaoxiao handled editing and post-production, Zhang Hai would be the lead actor, and everyone else, including Li Yu, could make cameo appearances if needed.
If more people were needed, they could also ask Che Haishen to recruit students from the school to earn some extra money. This way, a small video production team was set up.
Moreover, a week later, the first video was produced.
The duration was two minutes and forty-nine seconds. Li Yu planned to keep all videos under three minutes going forward: first, because short videos spread easily and second, because then he wouldn’t have to remember as much.
But this posed a high demand on the creators’ abilities.
Since Miss Rabbit hadn’t arrived home yet, Li Yu could only listen to Lu Weijia’s narration; luckily, the content wasn’t too complex.
This was the first installment in a series of short videos, titled "On the Matter of Making Videos in Another World After My Death, Having Friends Submit Them for Me, and Becoming an Internet Celebrity."
The name was a bit long, but Lu Weijia insisted on it.
The first episode told the story of a certain video creator from the "Madness" category who had transmigrated. It was a real story, shot like a pure documentary.
Once uploaded, Lu Weijia’s QQ fan group was the first to erupt with excitement.
"Damn, it’s the same old style, it’s really him, the group leader! I’m in tears, he’s really... even in death, he’s still worried about updating."
