Chapter 526: Chapter 144: Is This All You’re Capable Of?

The Lady found herself enveloped in an immense sense of crisis, instinctively pulling the trigger as she fell to the ground.

At such close range, her shot didn’t miss this time, but in her haste, she couldn’t aim properly, and the bullet hit the Earth Bear square in the chest of its scale armor.

Yet it failed to pierce the great work crafted by the hands of the Dwarf Master; the lead bullet merely left a small dent in the scale armor before it warped and was deflected.

The Lady drew her third dueling pistol, aware that after the previous shots had failed to hit their mark, she had very little room left for error, and her psychological pressure was mounting.

Nor had her strategy of summoning smoke worked, as she was still lying on the ground, unable to stand up.

Fortunately, the Earth Bear was still somewhat wary of the weapon in her hand, especially considering their proximity.

The Earth Bear chose to smash its giant shield directly at the young girl, who desperately rolled around on the ground.

And as if misfortunes never come singly, while rolling to avoid hitting herself with an accidental discharge, she didn’t hold on tightly, and the gun slipped out of her hand and hit her ribs during a roll.

And Ireya almost cried out in pain.

"It’s over."

Cornelia said upon witnessing the scene, yet there was no hint of joy on her face, as if everything was to be expected.

Edward II, like the onlookers around him, showed a flicker of disappointment in his eyes.

It was supposed to be a magnificent battle, fierce and exciting, but no one expected the outcome to be decided so quickly.

The Earth Bear had dominated Ireya from the start, pushing the young girl to her limits with hardly any effort.

Ireya’s three flintlock guns either missed their shots or fell to the side.

Stripped of these sharp weapons, she looked like a noble lady with no martial arts training whatsoever.

Although she had managed to scramble to her feet and drawn her only melee weapon, she was either too nervous or completely unpracticed.

She even held the War Axe the wrong way, with the blade pointing up, looking as though she planned to knock out the Earth Bear with the back of the axe.

This time, however, the Earth Bear had tossed aside its giant shield and then removed its helmet.

With just two fingers, it easily caught the Lady’s ax swing and smiled broadly.

"Is that all you’ve got?"

The Lady didn’t reply, straining with all her might to retrieve her only remaining weapon, but the axe wouldn’t budge.

The Earth Bear casually threw its sword aside too and grabbed the girl’s throat with its other hand.

"It’s time for you to repent for your sins, Marsin. I’ve come for revenge!"

As the Earth Bear spoke, it increased the pressure of its grip.

By now, even if Ireya wanted to concede, it was too late; she couldn’t make any sound at all.

She felt as though her neck was about to break, yet even so, she did not release the War Axe in her grasp.

This seemingly ordinary axe was in fact another creation called the Hand of Judgment, forged by Watt.

In her previous duels, Ireya had won too easily and had never had cause to use it.

But now, this weapon had become the girl’s last hope because she had only one bullet left. If it missed, she would truly be left with no other choice but death.

At this moment, Ireya was more patient than she had ever been before, even if her face was turning purple and her consciousness was beginning to blur, she was still gritting her teeth and enduring, until the Earth Bear brought its head close, seemingly to observe when she would breathe her last.

Now!

The Lady finally seized the chance she had been waiting for and, with all the strength she had left, she pulled the trigger.

Accompanied by a loud ’bang,’ the bullet shot out from the front of the axe, hitting the Earth Bear directly in one of its eyes.

The onlookers who were still curious about where the sound had come from saw the Earth Bear’s body suddenly stagger before falling backward.

Its massive body crashed to the ground like a small mountain falling, causing the earth itself to shake.

Miss Rabbit also fell from the sky at that moment, similarly crashing to the ground, clutching her neck and emitting a painful groan.

This sudden turn of events left everyone stunned, with many unable to comprehend why the Earth Bear, which had been completely dominant, would suddenly let go.

And where the Lady’s shot had come from.

Only a few with sharper eyes caught the flash of flame that had shot out from the Flintlock Axe and guessed what might have transpired in that instant.

Ireya coughed hard for a while, feeling the dizziness in her head lessen a bit; only then did she look in the direction where the Earth Bear had fallen, to see that its left eye had completely disappeared.

In its place was a small, black hole, still oozing blood.

Perhaps it was just the Earth Bear’s bad luck that the shot had hit right in its eye socket, taking it down with a single bullet.

Even now, Miss Rabbit couldn’t quite believe everything that had happened just moments before; she seemed to be still immersed in the nightmare that had preceded.

The referee, too, was frozen once again, standing there dumbfounded for what seemed like several breaths before stepping forward again to check on the Earth Bear.

He put a hand beneath the Earth Bear’s nose and felt no breath; the referee was about to declare Ireya the winner.

But just as he was about to rise, a large hand suddenly reached out from behind him, grabbing his neck in one swift movement.

Then another hand grasped his cheek, and with a force in the opposite direction, there was a crisp ’snap,’ and the referee’s neck was broken.

The Earth Bear, which had been without breath just moments ago, sat up from the ground, gasping for air.

With its face already looking fearsome, now with only one eye left, it looked even more terrifying.

Miss Rabbit, scared out of her wits, even forgot about the pain in her neck. She leaped up from the ground and started running for her life.

At this point, the Earth Bear also identified the culprit who had made it look like this and, casually tossing the referee’s body aside, it too stood up and, with a roar of rage, chased after the Lady.

Ireya felt like she had never run so fast in her life; she was using every ounce of strength, even that from her infancy. While running, she once again fished out a Coke bottle and threw it at the Earth Bear.

Without pausing, the Earth Bear swatted away the smoke bomb with a punch.

Ireya threw again, and the Earth Bear swatted it away again.

On her third throw, the Lady didn’t toss a smoke bomb, but a glass wine bottle.

Ireya was now completely panicked, throwing whatever she could get her hands on. She vaguely heard Ge Lipeng calling out to her but couldn’t understand what he was trying to say.
