Chapter 442: Chapter 60 Reverse Output
"Mhm," Hao Xiaoxiao nodded, "The company I used to work for was an MCN agency. They cultivated new talent and also signed contracts with some famous bloggers."
"What about the profit model?"
"Profits mainly came from advertising, and there was a small amount of revenue from live-streaming sales. Over the years, it’s become more difficult to secure advertising deals. The company has been actively transitioning, but live-selling is not that easy to handle."
"It requires a team to select products and strong supply chain management abilities," Hao Xiaoxiao tried her best to recall her former company’s operation and management.
Li Yu nodded his head.
His interest in Hao Xiaoxiao’s previous job wasn’t a sudden whim.
In reality, Li Yu was in the process of solving a budget shortfall. After his promotion to P5, his corresponding expense account limit increased to fifty-thousand, in addition to his base salary.
For an individual, that amount was already quite substantial, but the problem was that Li Yu now had a project team with four subordinates.
For Zhang Yanlin and others, although the Third Era would pay their salaries and make contributions to their social security and housing fund, they would not distribute additional bonuses or set up separate expense accounts for them.
In other words, all expenses for Bratis Culture Communication Co., Ltd. now had to come out of Li Yu’s own expense account.
Moreover, with an entire Double Rest Sect behind him, fifty-thousand a month was nowhere near enough.
While promotions could increase the expense account limit, past experiences showed that the increases weren’t substantial, the most significant one being just a fifteen-thousand rise.
And most importantly, as one advanced, the faith points required for promotion became higher and the time taken to level up grew longer; solely relying on promotions was hardly a quick fix for the immediate thirst.
Now that the project department was established, had an office location, and new employees, Li Yu also began to ponder if there was a way to earn some side income.
Speaking of the fastest way to make money, it definitely belonged to paying for reincarnation.
With the "Rebirth Bell" in hand, Li Yu could convince prospective clients that they could go to a different world after death, or even just make them believe in such a possibility, ensuring that some would be willing to spend money.
Especially the wealthy, for whom money was just a number.
However, most of these people didn’t align with the principles of the Double Rest Sect, or even directly contradicted them. Allowing them to reincarnate on the Bratis Continent could likely lead them to become adversaries of the Double Rest Sect and Li Yu in the future.
Tricking them to stay for two days and then killing them wasn’t a good option either.
Moreover, Li Yu didn’t want to cause trouble in the original universe; there’s a big difference between free reincarnation and paid reincarnation, with the latter potentially constituting fraud.
So Li Yu only considered it for a moment before giving up on this admittedly tempting idea.
So is there a way to make money from the Bratis Continent of the other side?
Keep in mind that was an entirely new universal plane.
Although Bratis’s level of science and technology was much lower compared to Earth, equivalent to that of medieval Europe.
Li Yu had always been transporting materials and knowledge from Earth to the other side in exchange for faith.
That was the only thing he could bring back from there, until later when Lu Weijia approached him, suggesting they make a series of quirky videos recording the cuisine of the Bratis Continent.
Lu Weijia would handle the filming and editing, then do the post-production. After that, he would hand it over to Li Yu to bring back and release on Earth.
Unfortunately, the idea was instantly vetoed by Li Yu, who told him that it was impossible to bring anything back to Earth, including videos.
But despite that, Lu Weijia’s idea did provide Li Yu with some inspiration. Even though physical items couldn’t be carried over, creativity and stories were a different matter.
This was because Li Yu’s memories wouldn’t fade away as he crossed between planes.
Moreover, unlike technology, the field of culture and arts often saw the rise of retro movements and the like.
The outdated artistic creations on Bratis Continent could very well be so outdated that they were trendy.
Plus, with the Green Field Double Rest Sect’s followers now numbering nearly thirty thousand, that constituted a massive creative team.
In fact, not just the followers of the Double Rest Sect, theoretically, every person on the Bratis Continent could become a content creator.
Therefore, Li Yu thought it might be worth it to try to tap into this resource.
After all, his current project team was named Bratis Culture Communication Co., Ltd.; spreading the culture of Bratis was indeed returning to the main business.
This was also the reason why Li Yu asked Hao Xiaoxiao about the business related to incubating internet celebrities.
Thinking it over, Li Yu asked Hao Xiaoxiao, "Do you know any bloggers who specialize in music?"
Speaking of cultural creation, music was the most memorable, of course. Although Li Yu’s musical ability was barely enough to read sheet music, a tune he’d listened to over a dozen times was something he could hum.
For example, the immensely popular "Kara is a Good Lad," "Oh, Please Accept This Rose of Love," and "The Foolish Farmer and His Even More Foolish Goose" were the favorites of the minstrels at banquets.
Having listened to them often, Li Yu could now hum a few passages.
Beyond that, after a successful dragon slaying, Miss Rabbit had spent money to commission a song titled "The Black Dragon Wails at Ireya’s Feet."
Though the song received a lukewarm response in the West Marches, the Lady persistently had it played over and over in the castle, to the point where Li Yu almost knew it by heart.
Li Yu wanted to find someone knowledgeable in music to write down the tunes to see how they would fare online.
Hao Xiaoxiao shook her head, "I mainly did network maintenance at that company and didn’t have direct contact with the company’s signed bloggers, but I could ask a former colleague for you.
"If I remember correctly, the company mostly signed bloggers who do movie commentary and lifestyle content. I’m not sure if there are any music bloggers."
"It’s fine if there are no bloggers," said Li Yu, "Let’s find a student from the music academy to collaborate. I have a few melodies that need someone to compose. As long as the basic skills are solid, there shouldn’t be any problems."
"But that way, there won’t be much traffic. Those popular bloggers bring their own following, which is why when they release works, there’s more heat and they spread easily," Hao Xiaoxiao explained, having worked at a company that incubated internet celebrities, she understood these basic principles. After pausing, she then said,
"Though, if we find students, we will have more control. Or maybe we could buy some traffic later on?"
"The company doesn’t have a budget for that," Li Yu said, "Let’s just get the music written first. This is just a trial run anyway."
Hao Xiaoxiao had no objections and immediately started looking for candidates.
Li Yu then sat at his desk and continued to ponder what else he could transport. Heroic epics, mythological tales?
If turned into web novels, the story frameworks seemed too traditional, the pace too slow, and they often had downtrodden protagonists. He guessed that modern young people might not enjoy them, and even if placed online, they were unlikely to go viral.
Forget it, he’d go back to Bratis later and brainstorm together with everyone, especially those servants.
Li Yu had been working overtime constantly and hadn’t had proper leisure time. He wasn’t very familiar with current cultural trends.
