Chapter 421: Chapter 39 Interview
After returning from City G, Li Yu replied to Soft Mud Monster’s messages, since Soft Mud Monster had sent over seven or eight messages in one go previously.
Li Yu wasn’t too surprised when he saw the messages.
According to Lu Weijia, Soft Mud Monster cared a lot about his cousin, and the reason their previous conversation had ended without further discussion was that Li Yu had made plans to meet with Cola Bear in the group chat.
Soft Mud Monster had clearly seen their conversation and decided to bide his time, waiting until Cola Bear had met with Li Yu. Afterward, he directly asked Cola Bear, trying to gauge the reliability of the situation.
Compared to Li Yu, Soft Mud Monster apparently trusted the words of Cola Bear, a group member he knew for a longer time, more.
The reason he was now sending a flurry of messages to Li Yu was most likely because he had received a positive response from Cola Bear.
In fact, not just Soft Mud Monster, these past few days other group members were also frantically tagging Cola Bear, wanting to know if she had met Li Yu.
It was not until this afternoon that Cola Bear popped up in the group chat, briefly stated "Doesn’t seem like a scammer," then went offline again.
However, the comment she left set off a huge commotion in the group.
Everyone was guessing what tricks Li Yu could have possibly used to deceive Cola Bear as well.
Some said it was magic, others speculated that Li Yu might be proficient in Taoist physiognomy, using his ability to read expressions and a glib tongue to bamboozle Cola Bear, and the most outrageous guess was that Li Yu had deployed a honey trap.
Cola Bear had been dazzled by beauty.
Eventually, the group members unanimously designated that day as "fooled the bear and took a beating day."
But while the group was in an uproar, the number of people who messaged Li Yu privately started to increase, partly out of curiosity towards the enigmatic Li Yu, wondering if they could chat privately and detect any inconsistencies.
Secondly, with so many people involved, there were bound to be friends and relatives or other acquaintances with serious illnesses, so they also started inquiring about the matter of reincarnation.
But Li Yu just glanced at the messages, didn’t see any life-and-death, urgent situations, so he handed over the account to Zhang Yanlin to manage.
However, considering the need to conduct a background check on Gu Qian as soon as possible, Zhang Yanlin’s workload undoubtedly increased.
Luckily, now Li Yu had an additional recruitment quota, and with his promotion, including Zhang Yanlin, the salaries for other positions had also increased by nine hundred yuan.
Now with a salary of nearly nine thousand yuan, which still wasn’t much in City B, but with benefits like social insurance, strict weekends off, and a top-notch office space, it should still be somewhat attractive to many job-seekers.
Recently, Zhang Yanlin had been helping Li Yu with recruitment, posting job ads on many platforms, and had received quite a few applications, from which she selected six candidates for interviews.
Among them were four men and two women, the oldest being thirty-seven and the youngest only nineteen, with educational backgrounds ranging from high school to master’s degrees.
Li Yu had already taken the time to look over the six individuals’ information and asked Zhang Yanlin to schedule the interviews.
To minimize disruption to work, Li Yu arranged for all six interviews to be on the same day.
It was also the first day the new office was put into use.
Zhang Yanlin organized a small unveiling ceremony, rented more than ten flower baskets, randomly wrote some company names and congratulatory words on them, and hung a red cloth to cover the company’s sign at the front door. It looked quite decent.
Li Yu personally removed the red cloth, revealing the name beneath — Bratis Culture Communication Co., Ltd. Meanwhile, Zhang Yanlin timely set off the confetti cannon in his hand.
Colorful confetti burst into the air, scattering everywhere, with some landing on Li Yu.
After the ceremony, Zhang Yanlin reached out to help Li Yu brush the confetti off his shoulders.
Li Yu said, "Thank you for your hard work."
The renovation seemed simple, but was actually extremely tedious and exhausting work, especially the parts that involved dealing with other people, which provided a perfect opportunity to witness all sorts of characters in society.
That Zhang Yanlin could complete the project on schedule, while ensuring quality and striving to save costs, was especially difficult.
The six candidates who came for the interviews today were also observing the company before them.
Their first impression was that it was new; the business had obviously started operations not long ago, as there were even some remnants of confetti from the unveiling ceremony in front of the door.
Entering the door, however, was a delight to the eyes.
The interior design wasn’t complicated, avoiding the use of odd symbols or elements just to catch people’s attention — which highlighted the owner’s taste — nor did it boast wealth with the use of expensive materials and decorations.
At a glance, the place appeared to be uncomplicated and clear, but a closer look revealed that it was not truly simple; every detail had been meticulously arranged, while also maximizing sunlight utilization as much as possible.
Not only was this energy-saving during the day, but it also maintained a pleasant mood for those within. Curtains could block it out when not needed, exuding a humanized atmosphere throughout.
Zhang Yanlin, who was in charge of reception, first gave them a tour of the company, introducing the various areas of the new office, including but not limited to the office space, dining room, lounge, gym, and shower rooms...
After the tour, a woman dressed in a business suit, looking every bit the female office worker, raised her hand and asked timidly, "Excuse me, where are the other employees of the company? Are they out on a business trip?"
"No, because the company has just become independent not long ago, there are currently only two people, the boss and myself. Today we are both here. However, we will choose one of you to join us, so then there will be three," Zhang Yanlin explained.
Upon hearing this, all six candidates exchanged glances.
One of them, a middle-aged man wearing a duckbill cap and a gray coat, furrowed his brows and asked directly, "Is your boss a second-generation rich? Even with three people, using this office building seems too extravagant."
"The company may continue to hire more people in the future. The boss prefers to settle things properly once rather than moving around," Zhang Yanlin replied.
"Is this sofa made of genuine leather?" asked another youngster, around nineteen years old, who had the character for "loyalty" tattooed on his neck, as he ran his hand along the arm of the sofa.
After receiving an affirmative answer, he grew excited, "Awesome, the boss has style. Following such a boss, no, big brother, it’s certain we’ll make money."
The man with a buzz cut sitting to his left seemed somewhat impatient, "Is everyone here yet? Why haven’t we started?"
"Interesting," smiled the last man who entered, a man with a limp, as he twisted open his bottle of green tea and took two big gulps. He didn’t explain what exactly he found interesting.
Zhang Yanlin checked the time on his phone, "We can begin now. The boss will personally interview you all. Ms. Ma Yuhan, are you ready?"
The woman named Ma Yuhan nodded and stood up from her seat.
