Chapter 287: Chapter 45: Green Field Open Wheat Missionary Event

Quintus waited a little longer, and the number of ordinary people who had come to watch had reached eight or nine hundred, while finally, someone sat down on one of the four chairs in front of the stage.

Moreover, Quintus recognized that person, or rather, had met her once before.

However, Quintus didn’t know much about her, only that she was the disciple of Priest Martina, the youngest priest in the Church, with a promising future. That was until the incident happened, which led to her dramatic downfall—not only was she expelled from the Church, but she also quickly gained a notorious reputation.

Yet not long ago, she bravely revealed the truth about that day’s competition in front of all the guests and thousands of citizens, dealing a heavy blow to the Silver Moon Church.

Many followers of the Double Rest Sect began to sympathize with her, but there were also some who felt that she had been bought over by the Double Rest Sect to bite back at the Silver Moon Church.

In any case, her current situation was somewhat delicate, manageable within Green Field but likely much harsher outside of it.

Now, appearing in front of so many people again, especially at a Double Rest Sect event, wasn’t really a wise move.

But Quintus could understand why Li Yu had approached Adelle; after all, she was a genuine and certified priest of the Silver Moon Church, a bona fide missionary, who could probably offer some valuable insights.

Following the former priest, the next to arrive was the recently famous Dragon Slayer Heroine from the Arias family, the Family Head of Green Field, Ireya.

She stepped down from her carriage, surrounded by guards, wearing the same black dress she had worn for the ceremony of her joining the Sect, making sure to show off her wrist with the red silicone bracelet.

She waved at the crowd, and immediately cheers erupted.

Miss Rabbit, with her radiant smile, sat in the second chair on the left and then winked at her friend next door.

"You left too quickly last time, I didn’t even get to ask you, have you found a new direction in life?"

Adelle nodded gently, "I want to join the Double Rest Sect and do my part in building the Land God Kingdom."

"That’s wonderful, now we can worship the same God again," Ireya said joyfully. "You won’t have to worry about saving me every day."

The former priest’s face turned red at her words.

Next to arrive was Li Yu’s chief disciple, the first believer of the Double Rest Sect, known as the Hand of the Prophet, Hera.

Despite her young age, Hera was very mature and had always been by Li Yu’s side, assisting him with various affairs of the Double Rest Sect. In half a year, she had become strong enough to stand on her own.

With Li Yu away, Hera mainly took care of the Sect’s affairs, and many people already regarded her as the second-in-command of the Double Rest Sect.

Of course, the remaining chair was for Li Yu himself to sit.

And this time, returning from the Divine Country, the Prophet of the Double Rest Sect brought back two things: first was a wireless microphone, naturally needed for an open mic event.

Not only that, but Li Yu also had the Shipwright Fitzwilliam construct a microphone stand, which was now set up in the center of the stage.

Quintus down below was confused, unsure what new trick the Double Rest Sect was up to.

Alisa, who was in charge of hosting, quickly took to the stage first; the task was originally Tom’s job, as he was quick with words and enjoyed making witty remarks. However, due to the sudden abduction of Clara, Tom was busy gathering people for a search, so Ireya’s aunt temporarily replaced him.

This lady is now also a believer of the Double Rest Sect, having converted to Saturday just two days after Ireya joined. She was the second person in the Arias family to convert to Saturday.

After she came up, she turned on the microphone and began with a self-introduction, then she started to introduce the rules of this missionary activity.

Quintus perked up immediately, pricking up his ears.

He was no stranger to the Divine Power that could amplify sounds; Adelle had already shown it once before, but back then the former High Priest held a Holy Artifact shaped like a basket that was bigger at one end and smaller at the other.

This time the Double Rest Sect brought out another, much smaller, New Holy Artifact shaped like a round ball at one end and like a short little stick at the other.

It could also make the speaker’s voice louder and seemed even clearer than the previous one.

Quintus could only sigh, feeling that the Double Rest Sect had far too many bizarre Holy Artifacts. Was this great being called Saturday idle all day long, constantly toying with Holy Artifacts?

Otherwise, it was inexplicable why the Silver Moon Church, despite searching high and low, could hardly gather a few Holy Artifacts, while the Double Rest Sect seemed to be flooded with them.

Alright, Quintus had to admit that he felt envious once again.

He forced himself to pull his thoughts together because Alisa had already begun explaining the rules.

To Quintus, the rules did not seem complicated, but they were novel... no, rather unheard of.

The four sitting in chairs as judges for the event could score each participant who took the stage. The full score was ten points, with the lowest possible score being zero. The final scores from all four judges would be added together for each participant’s professional score.

Besides this portion of the score, there was another part that came from the audience.

In the public scoring segment, everyone present could support the contestants onstage with their voices.

The louder the voice, the higher the score the participant would get in this segment. With forty points being the full score, equivalent to the total professional score, the lowest score was similarly zero. As for how to judge the volume of the voices, that would involve the second device Li Yu had brought – a sound level meter.

The reason for setting up the public scoring segment was that the event was originally meant to explore how to preach in a more down-to-earth manner. Consequently, the opinions of the ordinary audience were notably important.

Moreover, the activity would be divided into two rounds, with the first round being free-style. Each person would choose their own way of preaching for no more than fifteen minutes.

Ultimately, based on their scores, the top ten would be selected to enter the second round. In that round, Li Yu would specify the theme, and this contest would determine the final rankings of the ten contestants.

Quintus had understood everything, but now he was utterly dumbfounded.

Could preaching... really be compared like this?

Quintus could understand if the winners and losers were decided by the high-ranking or influential individuals of the Church; and looking at the reactions of the believers, deeming which side they found more convincing didn’t seem problematic either.

But when these two were combined, why did it suddenly become so strange?

Exactly which part was problematic?

As Quintus was still pondering, the first contestant had already made their way to the stage and took the microphone from Alisa’s hand.
