Chapter 201: Chapter 49: Forget it, proceed with the punishment.

"Do you know who I am?" the Lady asked the man in the cell.

The latter didn’t respond but merely glanced at Ireya and Li Yu.

His gaze lingered on the girl for less than half a second, while it stayed slightly longer on Li Yu, for about a second or two, before he closed his eyes again.

Miss Rabbit sneered, "There’s no need to feign deafness and dumbness; I know you can understand what I’m saying."

The man in the cell remained silent, acting as if he hadn’t heard the girl’s question.

"I’ve asked the herbalists who treated you, and they all said your injuries were severe. With such wounds, an ordinary person would have died long ago, only someone with a very strong will to live could have held on. So... I guess you don’t want to die, do you?"

Finally hearing this, the man opened his eyes again and looked towards the two outside the door.

The Lady’s lips curled slightly, revealing a smile full of irony, "Unfortunately... you’re a dead man. You directed that Black Dragon to Green Field after hearing I became the new Commander of the Alliance Army, aiming to burn my family to ash. However, outsmarts were your downfall, and now you’re my prisoner. Do you think I would possibly let you live?"

"Even if we set aside the grudge between you and me, the crimes you’ve committed have offended every Noble in the Western Territory. When you controlled that Dragon to run rampant, killing and arson, you should’ve known this day would come."

"Let me tell you the truth. The crimes you’ve committed are enough to see you die ten thousand times over, and nobody can save you."

Despite the sentence of death proclaimed upon him, the man’s facial expression did not change much.

Meanwhile, the girl outside the cell continued, "You must be thinking, ’I’m going to die either way, so why should I honestly answer this woman’s questions?’"

"That’s because you’re in my hands," Miss Rabbit answered herself. "I will not forgive you; a bastard like you isn’t worthy of forgiveness. But before death, you still have some time left, don’t you? As long as you’re willing to answer my questions, then I can somewhat meet your less unreasonable demands and let you spend the last part of your life more comfortably."

After her speech, she deliberately gave the person inside two minutes to think, but still, there was no response.

The Lady did not bother to speak further and turned to Lu Ke beside her, "Are the torture instruments still around?"

At this, Lu Ke wiped the cold sweat from his brow, "They’re here, here. We retrieved them right after the war ended, but..."

The Guard Captain whispered a reminder to the girl, "He’s only just been rescued from the brink of death a few days ago, his body is still very weak. I’m afraid that if we torture him now, he might not withstand it."

"If he’s not afraid, what are you afraid of?" Miss Rabbit said nonchalantly. "If he continues refusing to talk, there’s no need to waste our food on him. It’s not bad to have him die sooner. Of course, when you all lay your hands on him later, take it easy. He’s killed quite a few people; it’d be too kind to let him die too comfortably."

Having said this, she looked no longer at the man in the cell and turned to leave. Just as she stepped out with one leg, a sharp voice suddenly came to her ears, speaking the Universal Language, though somewhat poorly.

"Is this how people on this Continent treat their guests?"

"Oh, you’ve finally remembered that you have a mouth?" Miss Rabbit retracted her steps, mockingly said.

"You pride yourselves as nobles, always talking about etiquette, yet you seem unwilling to follow it. Don’t you find that a bit shameless?" The man sat up from the bed.

Perhaps it was because he aggravated his wound, his complexion looked somewhat ferocious.

"Etiquette is for treating guests, not enemies," the girl said indifferently.

"Why do you think I’m an enemy?"

"Asking such foolish questions doesn’t help your situation at all."

"You accuse me of controlling that Black Dragon to attack your territory and other nobles in the west, pinning all those terrible crimes on me. Do you have any evidence?"

"Really?! After thinking for so many days, this is the argument you come up with?" Miss Rabbit evaluated the man in the cell with a gaze reserved for an idiot.

"Please, you attacked my troops and killed my people when that Black Dragon was on the brink of death. And now you’re telling me you have nothing to do with that dragon?"

"Indeed, I have nothing to do with it. I’m just a Foreigner, newly arrived to your lands, ignorant of many things. As I flew over here, I noticed that a great battle was taking place, and it seemed like the dragon was being controlled by some despicable means. And since there were so many of you against one, compassion got the better of me...

"I admit I was a bit out of my mind at the time and I regret it afterwards. It caused unnecessary trouble for you and your troops. If you want to punish me for that, I have no complaints. But please don’t attribute the dragon’s misdeeds to me as well...

"In fact, after learning the truth, I realized you’re the righteous side and I quite despise the dragon’s previous actions. I would definitely not stoop to its level. If you don’t believe me, you can ask around. Did anyone in the west see me with that dragon before that night?"

Ireya didn’t need to ask; if someone had seen someone else behind that dragon, it would have been brought up when everyone gathered earlier. Since no one did, it meant no one had noticed.

But to say that the winged bastard in the cell really had nothing to do with the Black Dragon, Miss Rabbit was a thousand times skeptical.

How could it be possible? Where in the world were such coincidences?

The guy could’ve passed by Green Field at any other time, but he chose to do so just when they were about to slay the dragon. Moreover, a battle of such scale would normally prompt anyone to try to avoid this area, not head straight into it, let alone intervene at the risk of their own life.

However, the girl couldn’t find any evidence to definitely link that bastard to the Black Dragon, at least not for the moment.

Luckily, considering what that guy did that night, the Lady was already in her right to execute him.

Therefore, Ireya didn’t bother to argue any further and said, "Say what you will, since you can’t provide any valuable information, just wait for death here. Don’t worry, you won’t wait too long... Oh right, just to prevent you from saying I lack etiquette, welcome to Bratis. If there’s a next life, remember not to come."

"Actually... I do have some information you might need," the man in the cell called out to the girl again, "Your father was Blood-eyed Ruse, wasn’t he? Don’t you want to know how he really died? I mean, his true cause of death."
