Chapter 130: Chapter 46 Multimedia Teaching
Li Yu scheduled his preaching for every Friday afternoon, first to form a routine, and second, to make it convenient for the followers to organize their weekly lives.
However, no matter how well things were organized, there were always those who couldn’t find the time, such as people in charge of guarding or those who needed to keep an eye on the brick kilns, and so on.
Moreover, Li Yu himself wasn’t there every Friday either.
To solve these problems, he adopted flexible and varied teaching methods.
For example, pre-recording lectures so they could be played over and over when needed.
However, Li Yu’s built-in translation feature was more like a form of spiritual interference; once he was absent, simply recording the image or sound no longer facilitated easy understanding across different races and languages.
But this problem was easy to solve; all that was needed during video recording was to include a translator.
Li Yu said a sentence, and the translator repeated it.
For now, there was only a version for the lizard people. As for Fitzwilliam and others, lizard people who understood Universal Language could do a secondary translation. Once there were more followers in the future, Li Yu would release a version in Universal Language.
The lizard people, during their first multimedia class, were no better off than Adelle had been.
They even thought that Li Yu had been sucked into that white screen and were planning to organize a rescue for their Prophet, but after a few times they became used to it. However, for the Female Priest, this was her first time taking an online class.
Adelle was utterly shocked at the figure on the white cloth!
At that moment, she could finally understand why Ireya had tried to prevent her from coming here; everything about this place was too eerie.
Beneath the calm exterior lay a madness that twisted common sense!
No wonder both these lizard people and the girl she had met previously held a mysterious, fanatical faith in Saturday; no wonder the Church was so wary of this small sect with just over a thousand followers.
The development of events had completely surpassed the Female Priest’s understanding, and fear of the unknown made her tremble uncontrollably.
She dared not stay here any longer.
With a sudden effort, she jumped down from the shoulder of that lizard person and, taking advantage of their momentary lack of reaction, sprinted away, escaping the stone house.
Adelle wanted to run all the way back to Teacup Castle in one go, away from everything here.
She would have preferred to take a carriage straight back to the Church, but after a few steps, remembering the mission she bore, her pace slowed.
Her expression changed several times.
This was the first task assigned to her by the Church and also a test.
Given her age and background, she actually shouldn’t have become a priest so soon. However, her teacher, Priest Martina was very optimistic about her, brushed aside all objections, and almost single-handedly added her to this year’s list of new priests.
If she were to flee now, she would surely disappoint her teacher.
And surely, there would be plenty of other gossip about her in the Church afterward... But these were minor concerns. Most importantly, Adelle had once promised her close friend that she would never give up on her, determined to bring her back into the goddess’s light.
But how could she fulfill such a promise if she fled in disgrace at the first sign of trouble and danger?
And what of the followers of Pisya living in Green Field? If they knew even a priest had been scared off, into what kind of panic would they fall?
Thinking this, the Female Priest finally stopped running.
She glanced once towards Teacup Castle, then looked back at the village behind her.
With a grimace of resolve, she turned back.
For Adelle, who had always been timid, this was undoubtedly a heroic act; however, this was about the limit of her bravery—the Female Priest simply did not have the courage to return to that stone hut.
In fact, for the next five days, she remained holed up in that red brick house like a frightened little animal, unwilling to step outside.
Her original plan to gather intelligence was thus abandoned.
This was tough on the little maid who, except for the two days decreed by the rules as rest days, spent the next three days dragged into studying Universal Language by the idle Female Priest.
As a result, her learning tasks severely exceeded the planned curriculum, leaving her listless and drained.
Fortunately, on the seventh day, Li Yu finally returned to the territory of the Double Rest Sect and met the visiting Adelle.
The latter no longer possessed her earlier confidence and composure, her gaze flitting uneasily as she looked at Li Yu.
The Female Priest did not want to feel this way, but every time she saw his face, she involuntarily recalled the horrifying scene in the stone hut where he was only visible from the waist up, draped with a white cloth.
Still, she struggled to stammer out her purpose for the visit.
"You said the Silver Moon Church wants to challenge me in medical skills?" Li Yu raised an eyebrow, his expression odd.
"No, not the Silver Moon Church, it’s... it’s me and you," Adelle said softly, her head lowered as she stared at her knees.
"Are your medical skills very impressive?"
"No, not at all, my medical skills are hardly noteworthy within the Church," the Female Priest admitted honestly.
"Then why challenge me?"
"Uh..." Adelle didn’t know what to say. According to her original preparation, she should have claimed the goddess’s assistance was sufficient to face him.
But after witnessing what was inside that stone hut, she found it difficult to voice such a claim.
Li Yu didn’t dwell on the issue but continued to ask, "Where shall we have this contest? In private or..."
"If possible, I... I would like the results of the contest to be public," the Female Priest boldly said, "and for the venue, let it be at Teacup Castle."
"Public, huh... Sure, I have no objections," he replied.
Adelle had not expected Li Yu to agree so readily, and a look of surprise appeared on her face, "Since I have already mentioned the location, you should rightfully choose the timing."
"How about six days from now, does that work for you?"
The Female Priest thought for a moment, then nodded, "Yes, six days from now."
After she spoke, she seemed afraid that Li Yu might change his mind, and stole a glance at him, only to find him also looking towards her, his calm eyes seemingly penetrating all the secrets hidden in her heart.
Adelle involuntarily shivered and forced a smile on her face, "Um, I have nothing else to discuss, I won’t trouble you any further, Prophet Merlin."
"No trouble at all, during my absence, I must thank you for teaching Mary the Universal Language," Li Yu said, "In these past few days, she’s learned more vocabulary than she did in the prior half-month. It seems I had assigned her too little homework before."
The little maid, hearing this, felt bitterness she could not express; she could not defy Li Yu and had to channel all her resentment towards the Female Priest, making Adelle feel as if she were sitting on pins and needles, worried that if she lingered any longer, disaster was imminent.
She left the territory of the Double Rest Sect before dawn even broke.
Li Yu watched the departing carriage, his expression contemplative.
