Wizard: I Can Refine Everything -
Chapter 645 - 50 Wizard Refining Technique
Chapter 645: Chapter 50 Wizard Refining Technique
"What is Wizard Refining Technique?" Ulysses looked at Richard with some confusion. "I thought you guys have Alchemy?"
"That’s a long story," Richard casually opened a space rift, "Simply put, the Refining Technique is another civilizational type of alchemy technology. But due to some mishap in that civilization, this technology was distorted by the Power of Mystery.
And I managed to obtain a lot of data on this technology from the Immortal Country and am currently determining the scope of this distortion."
"If you’re interested, come take a look; maybe you’ll be able to lend me a hand."
"Gah, let me have a look."
Following the rift, Richard headed straight for the Floating City Research Institute in the goblin world. Shortly after, Richard arrived at the Abyss Wilderness where the institute was located.
During Richard’s expeditions, the goblin world’s development did not fall behind. Over the past twenty-five years, the Floating City Research Institute has undergone numerous expansions, with vast concrete buildings covering nearly one-third of the Abyss Wilderness.
The largest expansion project took place ten years ago, based on Richard’s requirement for the ’Wizard Alchemy’ project, leading to a massive expansion.
To study the ’Wizard Refining Technique,’ the Floating City Research Institute directly established a division, recruiting a significant number of researchers for investigation.
Upon entering the institute, Richard quickly spotted the director of this research institute—Tai’er.
Due to the Abyss pollution, Tai’er missed the chance to compete with Frank for the position of Pope. After Frank came to power, Tai’er was naturally marginalized from the core circle of power. Over time, Tai’er gave up his administrative position and became Ansen’s deputy in the Floating City Research Institute.
Thus, the position of director of the Refining Technique Research Institute naturally fell to him.
"I’ve heard you’ve made new progress?"
Upon meeting, Richard wasted no time. The Wizard Refining Technique has great significance for Richard and the Wizard Civilization behind him, prompting him to take seriously every piece of information regarding it.
"Yes, my lord," Tai’er bowed, "Thanks to the new equipment from the Floating City Research Institute, our progress has significantly accelerated. We have completed the preliminary summary of the Wizard Refining Technique and passed the experiments."
Saying this, Tai’er led Richard and Ulysses deeper into the research institute.
The institute is vast, with enchanted stone bricks forming partition walls, cutting the large institute into small spaces. In these rooms, some people wore Daoist robes, like Immortals, perusing silk scrolls. Others were like clockmakers, engrossed in engraving Daoist Texts onto Dao Artifacts with magnifying glasses. Some simply danced in front of furnaces used for Fusion Spirit, praying that their batch of materials would succeed.
"Gah, Richard, your researchers are quite... um, talented."
Ulysses looked at the chaotic scene of researchers, struggled for a long time, and couldn’t find the right adjective.
Even the Priests of the Gods Civilization, who are known for being mysterious, appear more like researchers than this group of fellows.
At least they don’t dance while creating things.
"Ulysses, this is the Floating City Research Institute. It gathers the geniuses and talented individuals from the goblin world, so it’s normal for these people to have quirks, even if they seem eccentric," Richard calmly said. "As long as they produce results, I don’t care if they dance in place and spin two and a half times in the air, landing in a worship pose, I’ll only say they’re doing a good job."
"...Your metaphor is quite unique."
Richard looked at Ulysses, his face expressionless.
"You thought this was a metaphor?"
"Gah... Is it not?"
The man and bird followed Tai’er to an underground room with enchanted stone bricks, enchanted metal plates, and multiple layers of protection.
The room was divided into four sections, with Richard entering the section where several researchers were testing Dao Artifacts.
Whoosh!
One researcher pointed at the distant target, and a silver light shot from his sleeve, piercing the metal target precisely. It then traced a graceful arc in the air and returned to his sleeve.
"My lord, after compiling statistics, we have determined that any Dao Artifact with up to 343 Daoist Texts will not experience a single distortion. Dao Artifacts with 343 to 2401 Daoist Texts will encounter some distortion, but for most Dao Artifacts, this distortion is insignificant.
However, when the Daoist Text count exceeds 2401, the distortion increases dramatically, intensifying several, ten, or even hundreds of times compared to the previous stage.
The more Daoist Texts inscribed on the Dao Artifact, the greater the distortion level becomes.
Once the Daoist Text count exceeds 117649, the Daoist system will completely collapse."
Richard nodded slightly, "Every sevenfold increase in Daoist Text count causes a change in distortion level. Good, any other progress?"
Tai’er nodded slightly, "Indeed, otherwise, we wouldn’t have reported to you."
As he spoke, he raised a hand, and another researcher walked out from an adjacent room, causing Richard to frown slightly.
"Priest? I recall that researchers cannot become Priests, right?"
Before him stood a researcher dressed in the same black robe as him, holding a wooden staff, the typical attire of a Miracle Sect Priest.
But when he founded the Floating City Research Institute, he set a rule in the institute that one could not be both a researcher and a priest. If one becomes a researcher, they must forgo their status as a priest and any internal roles within the church.
This rule was established to prepare for the time when he would delve into research for decades or even a century without managing church affairs, to prevent the church from having outsiders managing insiders, and to prepare for the administrative management of research.
The priest made a church gesture to Richard: "My Lord, I am not a researcher, I have merely been invited to assist with the research."
Richard looked at Tai’er: "You need a priest to assist in research? Are you incorporating divine arts into artifact refining?"
Tai’er nodded with a smile: "You are correct. I have indeed integrated divine arts into the process of refining artifacts."
Saying this, he led Richard into the room the priest had exited. The room was simply set up, with only an engraver desk for inscribing Daoist Texts, and a chair for the engraver to rest. But Richard noticed there was also an array on the floor beneath him.
"My Lord, you informed us of the twisted nature of Dao Techniques, which is essentially the influence of the Power of Mystery, or rather, a curse. So we thought, since the curse affects the Dao Text system, if we dispel the curse, wouldn’t the Dao Text system function normally?"
Richard squinted thoughtfully: "So you’ve thought of using divine arts to dispel the curse and restore the Dao Text system to normal."
Tai’er nodded slightly: "You are quite right, but we’ve taken it even further than that."
Finishing his words, Tai’er took out a stone plate, carved with runes, from his pocket. On the stone plate, Richard could even feel the fluctuations of divine arts.
On Richard’s shoulder, the moment Ulysses saw the stone plate, his eyes widened dramatically.
"Gah! A Prayer Talisman?! Richard, did I teach you this?"
Richard shook his head slightly: "No, is this technology important?"
"Important, very important. This is something equipped by the believer army; at low tiers, it’s just a talisman, but at high tiers, it’s a divine artifact. Are you sure I didn’t teach you this?"
"I’m sure you didn’t." Richard looked at Tai’er and asked, "Did you come up with this?"
Tai’er shook his head slightly and gestured toward the priest beside him: "We definitely couldn’t create something like this, the inventor is this Priest Martin."
Richard looked at the somewhat uneasy priest beside him. The priest was not very tall, and his left arm was a mechanical prosthesis, clearly a priest from the time of the Abyss War or even earlier.
"How deep is your research on this?" Richard spoke as calmly as possible. When it comes to talent, Richard never minds taking extra care.
"I... I... I’ve done a lot of research. Low tier divine arts... I can make them all into talismans."
Whether inherently or simply from nerves, Martin stuttered terribly when he spoke, his face turning a deep green.
"No need to be nervous, your research is good, very good. Have you researched any higher tier divine arts?"
Upon hearing Richard’s praise, Martin was so moved that he could not speak. After hearing Richard’s inquiry, he stuttered for quite a while before managing a reply.
"I have, researched them, but my rank isn’t high, so I haven’t learned many divine arts, thus I have no results yet."
Richard nodded slightly, gently patting Martin on the shoulder.
"It’s alright, you’ve done a great thing. Prepare to return today, in a few days I will elevate you to Red Cardinal."
"Ah! This... this..."
Martin was so shocked by the news he almost fainted, the sheer joy hitting him like a heavy hammer, fiercely pounding his head. He even wondered if he was dreaming.
How could making such a small device result in becoming a Red Cardinal?
Not only him, but even Tai’er beside him was startled by Richard’s decision.
For anyone who isn’t as unfortunate as him, a Red Cardinal in the Miracle Sect is second only to the Pope and the Holy Spirit.
"It’s what you deserve." Richard once again patted Martin on the shoulder, "Your discovery of this is hugely significant. Go back and prepare well today, after your coronation, I’ll have Frank assign a team to assist you in researching this... Have you named it?"
Richard was about to call it a Prayer Talisman but suddenly thought: since Martin discovered it himself, he should have the right to name it.
"Not yet, I’ve just been calling it a talisman." Martin shook his head, then his joy-struck mind finally made a wise decision.
"My Lord, since you are here, its name should be given by you."
"Me?"
Looking at the stone plate, Richard said somewhat reluctantly, "Naming it is a bit troublesome for me... well, let’s just continue to call it the Prayer Talisman."
Upon hearing the name, Martin bowed to Richard respectfully:
"Thank you for bestowing the name. In the future, it will be called Prayer Talisman."
