Chapter 71: 065 Advanced Knight!_3

"You just want the goods! There’s no need to kill!"

"Hmph!"

The rider astride his horse swung his long spear, snorting as he spoke, "Now you say that? It’s too late!"

Before his voice faded, the rider’s legs clamped fiercely. The horse beneath him accelerated instantly, its long spear thrusting out with added force.

"PFFT!"

The long spear pierced the speaker’s chest, lifting him high before slamming him onto the grass.

After hitting the ground, his body twitched and then fell silent.

"Sixth Brother!"

Someone from among the commoners roared in grief and rage, "Let’s fight them!"

"Kill!"

"Killing one isn’t a loss, killing two is a profit! Brothers, don’t be scared, let’s go at them together!"

Though the crowd shouted incessantly, trying to boost morale, it was futile to bridge the gap in strength between the two sides. Among the City Guards, there were several Knight’s Attendants, and even a top expert among their ranks.

The resistance was suppressed with a speed visible to the naked eye.

"SWOOSH!"

"PFFT!"

A City Guard swung his longsword, aiming to cut down a man, when suddenly his body stiffened, and he collapsed limply to the ground.

Blood and brain matter flowed from the back of his head; his skull had clearly been smashed by something.

"Lu!"

The nearby City Guards’ expressions changed dramatically at the sight. Their gazes shifted to Carl, who stood on the outskirts of the battlefield.

"You?"

Pointing his sword, the guard charged over.

"Heh..."

Carl chuckled.

At the same time, Carl casually waved his arm, and glowing Arcane Missiles flew out one after another. The power of Arcane Missiles was on par with powerful arrows; a direct hit to a vital spot meant that even a Knight’s Attendant stood no chance. Dealing with ordinary soldiers was even easier.

"CLANG!"

An Arcane Missile knocked a weapon away.

"BANG!"

Another Arcane Missile seized the opening to strike the armor, instantly blasting a crack in the fragile iron plate.

"PFFT!"

The final Arcane Missile found its mark through a gap.

The soldier’s body trembled, and he fell to the ground after his comrade. The entire process took but a few breaths.

"Dharma Seals?"

"Watch out!"

"He can’t cast those many times!"

The City Guards shouted amongst themselves, anger surging after their initial terror. Two riders quickly turned their horses and charged toward Carl.

Such powerful Dharma Seals were rare. However, regardless of the type, casting a Dharma Seal consumed energy, making it difficult to cast them continuously in a short period. In their simple understanding, there were no exceptions.

Carl raised his hand.

Fire Dharma Seal!

Fire Dharma Seal!

Arcane Missile!

Basin-sized Fireballs flew out one after another, exploding in mid-air. The flames made the horses whinny and rear up on their forelegs.

Amidst the chaos, the Arcane Missiles, like an assassin’s daggers, pierced the riders’ throats, quickly reaping their lives.

Carl advanced while casting spells. Arcane Missiles and Fire Dharma Seals launched in turn, and City Guards fell one after another.

For long-range attacks, he had Arcane Missiles. At medium range, he had the Fire Dharma Seal. And in close combat, he was even less afraid!

A squad of more than ten City Guards and several warhorses faced Carl alone, utterly powerless to resist. They couldn’t even flee!

The horses couldn’t turn as quickly as the Arcane Missiles struck, and turning to flee would only expose their vital points. This was a one-sided massacre—not the City Guards slaying Carl, but him slaughtering the City Guards.

"BOOM!"

A Fireball struck a warhorse and exploded. The powerful blast tore the horse and its rider to shreds. The next moment, blood and flesh flew everywhere.

Indeed! Wizards kill faster, like the Death God mowing grass. It’s safer too, as they don’t have to get close. A squad of elite guards... even if a true Knight faced them, they’d have to be cautious. And even if the Knight could win in the end, they wouldn’t escape unharmed, let alone annihilate the squad completely. But a Wizard... can handle it quite easily!

As he acted, Carl even had the leisure to ponder.

Overall, in a relatively confined space, a Knight has the advantage one-on-one. In other situations, however, a Wizard is stronger. Hmm... The strength of a Wizard is related to the witchcraft they command, as well as the Demonized Items and Potions they possess. The strength of a Knight, on the other hand, is purer.

In just a short time, the once-arrogant group of City Guards lay dead or wounded on the ground. Carl walked toward the crowd.

"Don’t be nervous."

Noticing the group’s anxious expressions, he stopped before them and asked, "I just want to know what happened inside Dark City."

"K-Knight... sir."

A middle-aged man stepped out from the crowd, stammering, "Thank you for your help, sir. You can take whatever you want from our belongings. Please, help yourself."

Although Carl hadn’t used any Martial Arts, in their minds, such a powerful person had to be a Knight. Addressing him as ’Knight sir’ couldn’t be wrong.

"I’ve said," Carl shook his head, "I just want to know what happened inside Dark City."

"Yes, yes." The man nodded repeatedly. "We don’t know what happened. We only know that a surge of malevolent energy suddenly burst from Pit Number Two."

"Within a very short time, the whole of Dark City was engulfed in malevolent energy, and many people transformed on the spot."

Remembering the scene, a profound fear appeared on everyone’s faces.

"At that time, the city was already in chaos, and the city gates were damaged, so we took advantage of the confusion to leave. Later, we heard that another burst of malevolent energy erupted from Pit Number Two."

"Now..." He looked towards Dark City, shaking his head slightly. "I’m afraid the whole of Dark City is devoid of life!"

"Knight sir, we aren’t clear on the specifics, only that it’s related to something from beneath Pit Number Two."

Hearing this, Carl nodded slowly.

Beneath Pit Number Two? Not surprising.

"So..." the man asked cautiously, "Knight sir, may we go now?"

"Go ahead."

Carl gestured with his hand. He then turned, approached a severely injured City Guard, crouched down, and said in a low voice, "Now, it’s your turn."
