Chapter 125: Are You Implying I Eat a Lot Like a Pig, CEO Xu?

"...Calix?"

Since when did he get here?

Leslie vaguely recalled the uncomfortable feeling of having the blazing sunlight shine directly on her face. But, she was not conscious enough to wake up yet. Eventually, the glare faded as if something obscuring the sunlight from her.

Leslie slowly stirred awake from her nap, only to find Calix sitting next to her. His towering back was enough to block the piercing light.

Hearing the call of his name, Calix turned around. He faintly laughed at the sight of Leslie rubbing her eyes. Her hair was slightly messy from her sleep.

"Had a good nap?" Calix adjusted his sitting position, facing Leslie properly this time. Propping his elbow on one thigh, he rested his chin on the back of his hand, "Seems like you really like this place."

A chuckle found its way out of Leslie’s lips, amused by Calix’s teasing. She sat up while running her fingers through her long hair. Her eyes landed on his smiley ones.

"What time is it? The breeze whispered at me to sleep so, I took a nap."

Leslie’s reply enticed laughter from Calix. The sound blended with the echoes of nature encircling them.

"Almost five-thirty," Calix got up from the deck, standing while leaning heavily on one leg, "Mr. Nucci’s representatives will come to pick me up at seven. You should follow me to the restaurant."

"I’ll just stay here," Leslie also rose to her feet. Looking at Calix, she verbalized her refusal, "Won’t you talk about business with Mr. Nucci? It’s better if I don’t tag along."

"I don’t know how long I’ll be gone," Calix wore the sandals, preparing to head back to the private villa, "The restaurant has a garden outside. Don’t you like wandering around one? If you stay here, you’ll be bored."

Calix’s question earned a chuckle from Leslie. She walked away from the deck, stepping on the forest floor. The spouses walked toward the pathway shrouded by the small forest.

"I’ll put on a TV show before you go. I’ll simply watch it until you return," Leslie glanced at Calix who walked a few steps behind her, "Since there’s no stranger here, no one will feel weird seeing the TV on when you’re away."

Calix’s suggestion was tempting but, Leslie didn’t feel like taking up the offer. Even though Mr. Nucci and anyone else couldn’t see her, she didn’t want to impose her presence when Calix was having dinner with his business partner.

"Well, if you say so," Calix shrugged, not willing to pressure Leslie about following him. She had been refusing a few times already, "I’ll try to return as soon as I can."

"Haha, I’ll just wait here," Leslie peeled her eyes away from Calix, throwing her gaze to the front, "You’ll be busy with business talks. Don’t be in a hurry to get away from your partner."

Calix exhaled a sigh, smiling in helplessness. He felt uncomfortable leaving Leslie all alone in the villa despite her safety was reassured. But, there was nothing he could do if she was adamant about her choice.

"You should eat before I go," Calix told Leslie once they entered the villa. He changed into the home slippers, "Mrs. Rossi prepared some food for us. It’s in the kitchen. I’ll go upstairs to get ready."

"Alright~"

Leslie quickly made her way to the kitchen. She wondered what kind of meal the Italian housekeeper had cooked for them. Her mouth salivated just by imagining it.

The kitchen was well-furnished. Leslie found a pot of stew together with several other dishes. Without wasting time, she reheated them. While doing so, she looked around the kitchen.

This place was as huge as the kitchen in Calix’s residence. If Aunt Wendy could come here, Leslie had a hunch that the older woman would be very happy. She learned how much the housekeeper loved trying new recipes.

"Oh, they’re done."

Leslie carefully put the bowl of stew and other dishes on the kitchen island. Because she was alone, she didn’t feel like eating in the dining room.

The enticing fragrance of food wafted in the air, making Leslie feel hungrier. She quickly dug into the dishes, filling her plate and bowl with them.

"Wow~ Mrs. Rossi is a good cook. It’s a pity I can’t thank her myself."

While Leslie was enjoying the food, Calix appeared at the kitchen entrance. He swapped his casual clothes into a formal suit in navy blue. His bangs were styled into slick-back, leaving only a few strands hanging loosely on his forehead.

"How is it? Delicious?" asked Calix while putting on an analog watch around his left wrist, "Did you finish the entire pot?"

Leslie made a face, side-eyeing Calix, "Are you implying I eat a lot like a pig, CEO Xu?"

Calix grinned, snickering at Leslie who suddenly jabbed her fork onto the pasta dish, "Are you not?"

Under Leslie’s piercing glare, Calix hurriedly left while chortling. His maniacal laughter left its echo behind, much to her dismay.

"I hope he chokes when eating later, huh!"

Leslie quickly finished the rest of the food. She should start looking for which drama or movie she wanted to watch when Calix was gone. Once he left, she couldn’t even hold the remote controller.

Calix was making a phone call in the lounge when Leslie appeared there. She hurriedly switched to a streaming platform. After contemplating between a few dramas, she decided on one.

Once again, Leslie picked one of the dramas played by Evelyn. She had finished watching Bunny and the Moon so, it was time for another drama.

"Oh, this drama is from a few years back," murmured Leslie while reading the synopsis displayed on the screen.

This time, Leslie chose a contemporary romance drama – My Darling CEO Is an Insomniac![1].

In this drama, Evelyn played the female lead role who was reborn after being tormented under her loved ones’ torture. Soon after her rebirth, she was entangled with the male lead who suffered from a severe insomniac.

Yes! This should be a good dog-blood drama!

After watching the fluffy Bunny and the Moon, Leslie was in the mood for something angsty.

Kick the cheating scumbag! Slap the fake white lotus! Trample on the vicious cannon fodder!

Sitting in the middle of the couch, Leslie put her whole focus on the TV screen. Her choice of drama stunned Calix.

"...are you turning into a die-hard fan of my sister? Seriously, another drama of hers?"

Soon, Evelyn appeared on the screen. Her beauty was not blemished by how battered and bruised her character was during the starting scene.

"So, what if I am?" Leslie glanced at Calix, wiggling her brows with a lop-sided grin, "Ice Goddess Xu is my sister-in-law now. Shouldn’t I start supporting her more?"

Calix winced, "Urgh... I can see you and Irene fangirling over that brat."

Leslie scoffed. She threw a pillow at Calix, "Don’t disturb me ah. Let me watch it in peace."

Swiftly catching the pillow from hitting him, Calix rolled his eyes.

If Evelyn knew that her new sister-in-law started being a die-hard fan, for sure she would love Leslie.

Wait... wouldn’t it mean his wife would side with his sister when he wanted to prank the latter?
