Chapter 568: 525 "That’s an interesting thing you said."_2
"It seems we need to solve your Magic Power issue first," Shane asked Merica, "Have you told anyone else about your condition?"
"Not... not yet." Merica shook her head, her voice tinged with melancholy. "Actually, one of the reasons I returned to the Elf Country was to ask the elders of the Elf Clan about what’s happening to me, to find out what’s really going on."
The Elf Clan had the strongest Magic Corps of the Human Race and a batch of the most formidable Legendary mages, whose research and mastery of magic far exceeded that of outsiders.
Having sought help in the outer world to no avail, Merica naturally wanted to return home to seek advice from her elders.
However, Merica had only returned to the Elf Country yesterday and was immersed in the joy of reuniting with her people and childhood friends, so she hadn’t had the chance to act on this yet.
Unexpectedly, things had suddenly become so severe that her Magic Power had inexplicably increased more than tenfold, and she really had no idea what was going on.
"In that case, why don’t we go to the Queen’s Palace right now?"
Shane pondered for a moment before making this suggestion.
"Go to the Queen’s Palace?"
Merica was momentarily stunned.
"Let the Elf Queen and the two Garrison Commanders by her side take a look at you," Shane pinched this little elf’s delicate cheek, chuckling, "Your condition is clearly getting weirder. Without figuring it out properly, what will we do if something happens?"
At his words, Merica’s cheeks reddened again.
Evidently, Shane’s somewhat affectionate gesture made the little lady feel unnatural.
Even though the two had already done the most intimate things, Merica was still the same shy and nervous Merica.
Even if Shane’s action brought her a hint of joy, it was still the same.
The only problem was...
"Isn’t it inappropriate to trouble the Queen and the two Garrison Commanders over such a trivial matter?"
Merica was still hesitant.
"Who dares to call it a trivial matter when it involves your body?" Shane rolled his eyes, emphatically saying, "I think it’s a big deal."
It had to be a big deal.
Otherwise, what would happen if something went wrong with his precious little wife that he’d finally landed?
He’d be heartbroken.
Besides, Shane didn’t want things to get out of hand the next time he and this little lady engaged in their beloved activities.
Otherwise, he’d be scared stiff sooner or later.
"But..."
The little elf still seemed reluctant.
"There are no buts." Shane cut her off, saying, "I said we’re going, and I believe Her Majesty will be willing to do me this small favor."
Even if not for his sake, the Elf Queen would still likely help out of consideration for Ai Yi, Lilith, Lide, Milu, or Princess Luoqi.
After all, Shane didn’t think Her Majesty would risk offending so many heavyweights to turn him away.
"Let’s go," Shane then said to Merica, "We’ll head to the Queen’s Palace first."
"What about Princess Luoqi and the others?" Merica tentatively asked.
"Let them go sightseeing first," Shane shook his head, "I’ll join them later."
With that, Merica said no more.
The two then left the place together and headed towards the street.
Little did they know that from a hidden place deep in nature, a pair of eyes watched them closely.
"Merica..."
Nadura stared intently at Merica’s back. Moments later, with a lovely smile, she left the place.
...
Meanwhile, Shane and Merica found themselves back on the streets of the Elf Country, facing a world of ice and snow.
Here, members of the Elf Corps and some passersby from the Elf Clan were using Flame Magic to thaw the ice and snow in the area.
Among them, an elf girl with shoulder-length hair, holding a Short Stick, was busily moving about, seemingly drowned in despair.
"Genom, come here."
"And here."
"This needs thawing too."
"It’s your mess, take responsibility and return it back to normal."
The mages of the Elf Corps scowled as if they were supervising Genom’s corrective labor, each with a fierce look that, due to their overly stern faces, didn’t seem fierce but rather adorable.
Only Carol, leading them with arms crossed and an impartial, iron-faced look, appeared not only unadorable but also terrifying.
"Get this area sorted, then there are other places you need to work on, move quickly."
Carol reprimanded.
"Yes..."
Genom responded listlessly, using Flame Magic to thaw a building while his expression grew more desolate.
Seeing this scene...
"Pfft!"
Yes, Shane couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
"Mr. Shane..."
Merica’s voice, filled with embarrassment, came as a reminder.
But by then, it was already too late.
The moment Shane laughed, not only did the members of the Elf Corps hear him, but Genom turned his head and looked over.
A second later...
"Merica—!"
Genom’s despairing expression vanished in an instant. He brightened up on seeing Merica, and then, noticing Shane laughing there, a surge of anger rushed to his head.
"You despicable fellow, how dare you come back...!?"
Genom yelled, reflexively raising his Short Stick.
