Chapter 554: 515 Explain nothing!
Carol knew the reason had to lie with Shane.
Otherwise, why would the fairies be so close to him? And why would his magic power and aura be so akin to nature?
Such a condition, as far as Carol knew, could only be attributed to one possibility.
That is — "Blessing of the Nature Goddess."
Yes.
Once someone received the Blessing of the Nature Goddess, they would be protected by nature and favored by it.
Therefore, the bearer of this blessing would emit a magic power and aura very close to nature, endearing them to both elves and fairies.
But logically speaking, humans could not possibly receive the Blessing of the Nature Goddess.
The Goddess of Fate, Life Goddess, and Nature Goddess each governed their realms, guiding different Races and bestowing their blessings generally only within those they oversaw.
Hence, only members of the Elf Clan and Dwarf Clan could receive the Blessing of the Nature Goddess; humans and beastmen were not eligible.
Unless...
(He’s a Hero.)
Only Heroes from the Otherworld were exempt from these rules.
Because Heroes from the Otherworld had always been human, and they were invariably granted blessings of a Three Great Goddesses level. Thus, only Heroes had the luxury of sidestepping the rules, potentially receiving blessings from any Goddess.
In the past, there had been Heroes who received the Blessing of the Nature Goddess.
Yet now, the Demon King had been vanquished, wars had ended, and the grand ceremony of Hero Summoning was sealed away by the Supreme God Ominis in a remote corner of the Divine World, never to be used again.
In light of this, Heroes would no longer appear in this world. Consequently, the Blessing of the Nature Goddess could only be feasibly obtained by elves and dwarves.
This meant that it was impossible for Shane to be the recipient of the "Blessing of the Nature Goddess." The magic power and nature-like aura he possessed surely had another explanation.
Moreover, Carol hadn’t heard of anyone receiving the "Blessing of the Nature Goddess" being able to shorten a fairy’s Rebirth Period.
After all, if such a person had existed in the history of the Elf Clan who had this ability, it was unimaginable that they wouldn’t have used it.
Based on these considerations, Carol initially dismissed the possibility that Shane had the "Blessing of the Nature Goddess."
But if that was the case, what was all this about?
Why did this man from an Alien Race possess such unique qualities?
Could this be the reason he could attract the attention of both Dragon Demon Ai Yi and Evil God Lilith?
Carol had pondered these matters more than once.
She believed that the Elf Queen must be contemplating the underlying reasons as well.
Alas, in some ways, Shane’s uniqueness was even more significant for the Elf Clan than that of a Hero who had visited them a thousand years ago.
With his nature that could allure all elves and fairies, the Elf Clan could not neglect his presence.
For now it was fine, as not many within the Elf Clan had encountered this man from an Alien Race, and the elves’ inherent wariness toward him was enough to keep them at bay, resisting this allure.
But Carol always felt that if things continued this way, the situation would undoubtedly change.
At the very least, the fairies’ attitudes had already shifted.
Would the elves’ attitudes be far behind in changing too?
Carol was always on guard against this.
For she felt that this wasn’t necessarily a good thing for the Elf Clan.
She voiced her concerns to the Elf Queen yesterday, but it was clear the Elf Queen did not wish to strain relations with this man from an Alien Race.
The powers backing this man were not insignificant, with Dragon Demon support and Evil God Lilith accompanying him. It seemed he now had some involvement with the Beast Demon and Ghost Demon as well. With such connections, the Elf Clan certainly couldn’t afford to antagonize him too much.
Even the Nature Goddess Nudura sent down her will yesterday, indicating that the deity was monitoring the situation in the Elf Country.
This made Carol realize that this man’s uniqueness had caught the attention of many.
In such circumstances, there was little someone of her status could do.
Considering this, Carol thought it over and ultimately decided not to pursue the matter of Shane being able to shorten the Rebirth Period of fairies.
It wasn’t something for her to worry about.
Lest pulling on one thread unravel the whole, she figured it was best not to act at all.
Carol was like that, careful and methodical.
All of this was for the Elf Clan.
Of course, she felt compelled to report the matter to the Elf Queen.
Only individuals at the Queen’s level could rightfully address it.
With those thoughts, Carol suppressed all the ideas in her heart and, facing a visibly dejected Shane, spoke.
"Let’s not talk about this for now," Carol shifted the topic, addressing Shane, "I came to ask if you have any plans for today?"
"Today’s schedule?" Shane’s attention was diverted as he scratched his cheek, then said, "Since the Peace Festival starts in a few days and nothing’s going on today, we’ll likely take a good walk around Elf Country."
Shane had not forgotten that their visit to Elf Country was for leisure.
Since it was for pleasure, they naturally had to explore Elf Country which everyone wished to enter.
That is to say...
"I’ll be going out to the streets today." Shane looked toward Carol and said, "You’re not here to stop me, are you?"
Shane also knew that Carol probably didn’t want him wandering around Elf Country, frightening the local clanspeople.
But he had no intention of being constrained here, coming to participate in the festival only to be isolated by a bunch of sexists.
If Carol’s aim today was to stop him, then Shane felt he wouldn’t be living up to his title as a "Wanderer" if he didn’t make a scene.
Fortunately, Carol had no such thoughts.
"Although it was not my intention, you are ultimately guests, and since we have decided to entertain you, our Elf Clan must not be rude."
Carol’s voice was light and detached.
"I will inform everyone in the Elf Clan to be mentally prepared."
Otherwise, once Shane took to the streets, chaos was sure to ensue.
"You will be going to see Merica, right?" Carol said, "Having Merica show you around Elf Country will suffice."
It was Merica who had invited Shane and his company, so naturally, the task fell to Merica to handle.
"I only have one thing to say." Carol looked straight at Shane, saying each word enunciated clearly, "Please do not do anything suspicious."
Carol had said this many times before.
Shane really wanted to ask, what exactly counts as doing something suspicious?
Peeking at Elf girls changing clothes? Or spying on them taking a bath?
Was he that kind of person?
...After all, there are still several days left, what’s the rush?
"I will definitely behave myself today."
So Shane solemnly promised.
Yes, today he would definitely behave.
As for tomorrow...
Well, tomorrow is another day!
"Good." Carol, unaware that she had been duped, nodded and added, "Once you have finished touring Elf Country, you can go to the Queen’s Palace. The Queen has already instructed that you may visit the Queen at the Queen’s Palace at any time, and it seems the Queen has something she wants to discuss with you."
"Something?" Shane raised an eyebrow, asking, "What is it?"
"I don’t know," Carol replied crisply. "Perhaps it’s something related to you."
After all, Shane’s party was quite special and important, even the Elf Queen had to treat them with caution.
Moreover, a lot had happened the day before, and the Elf Queen definitely wanted to inquire properly.
Such as the matter of the Beast Demon and Ghost Demon’s arrival.
Such as what the Beast Demon had mentioned when seeking the Elf Queen yesterday.
And such as the sudden stir among the Elf Clan the previous night, which even alarmed the Nature Goddess.
The details of these incidents were still mysteries.
Carol thought the Elf Queen wanted to clear up these events.
So she conveyed all that needed to be said.
"I still have patrol duties, so I’ll be leaving now."
Finally, Carol left with those words.
"Remember, don’t do anything suspicious."
After saying her piece, Carol glanced at the fairies still fluttering around Shane before turning and leaving.
Shane watched Carol go, and only after her figure had completely disappeared did he curl his lip.
"What a dull woman."
With that thought, Shane then returned to teasing the little fairies, reentering a playful state with them.
...
Before long, in the tree house, a group of young girls woke up one after another, left their rooms, and gathered in the living room.
Without exception, they all saw the scene of Shane playing with the fairies and were momentarily stunned.
"What have you done?"
Luoqi ran up to Shane in surprise, her first statement being an accusation.
"Since when could you get along with fairies like this?"
Ai Yi appeared half-asleep and quite disgruntled, seemingly still bothered by the events of the previous day, and thus his disposition towards Shane was very unfriendly.
"Hehe!"
"Fun!"
Lilith and Milu, the two young girls, had completely forgotten what had happened yesterday, like two innocent children, and seemed to have developed a friendship, sitting hand in hand, chasing after the panicked fleeing fairies, all the while emitting joyful laughter.
"It seems these children were drawn here because of Mr. Shane," Lasha commented softly while quietly preparing breakfast for everyone.
Lide lay sprawled on the table, looking meaningfully at Shane.
"Aren’t you going to explain?" Lide said with poise, "This time, you can’t bluff us like you did yesterday."
It seemed that, after a night’s discussion, the Beast Demon had finally realized she had been too concerned and fooled by Shane.
Shane could only roll his eyes.
Explain?
Explain what!
Isn’t it natural that I, born charming and beloved by all, adored by flowers and fairies alike, should be favored? Isn’t it allowed?
To assume right from the start that one has done something, just how much do you all doubt my charisma and character?
Damn it!
