Chapter 538: 504 "Two Si Mei Kong......"_2

"Mmm-hmm!" Milu nodded vigorously, her voice crisp, "Points! More points!"

Unfortunately, Shane didn’t care much about that.

"Maybe I’m just disrespectful and lack self-awareness, very arrogant and conceited?"

Shane simply shrugged in response.

"Indeed, a little arrogant." Lide didn’t refute Shane’s words, saying somewhat menacingly, "Knowing who we are and still daring to follow us, aren’t you afraid we might do something to you?"

"Oh?" Shane sounded a bit interested, "So, would you do something to me?"

Upon hearing this, Lide didn’t reply but instead turned to Milu beneath her.

"Do you want to take action against him? Milu?"

Lide asked casually.

Surprisingly, Milu actually began to ponder the question seriously.

Watching Milu do this, Shane inexplicably felt a shiver run down his spine.

He always felt that this girl, who appeared extremely innocent, romantic, and pure like a guiltless child, harbored something deep within her existence that sent chills down one’s spine.

That thing seemed very dangerous.

And it wasn’t about strength, but some sort of essential existence.

This gave Shane the premonition that as soon as she concluded she "wanted to take action," she would not hesitate to act and might cut him down on the spot.

Luckily...

"Milu doesn’t want to take action." It seemed Milu had reached a conclusion, shaking her head with an innocent smile, she said, "Big brother seems fun."

Her words eased the slight chill in Shane’s heart.

"Is that so?" Lide still had that indifferent look but said to Shane, "Me too, I don’t feel like doing anything to you anymore, unless you really are a coward that can’t even stand facing us."

It seems Shane’s score in their hearts was at least satisfactory.

He could be certain that if he did not meet their expectations, they would not hesitate to eliminate him.

"Don’t think us cruel," Lide sneered, "If you want to get involved with Ai Yi, after all, you have to shoulder that risk."

"Mmm-hmm!" Milu nodded emphatically again with a serious look, "Ai Yi is very important."

Leaving those words, Milu hopped forward, once again bouncing ahead with Lide.

Shane rolled his eyes, seemingly completely dismissive of the duo’s words.

Of course, Shane wasn’t so rash as to disregard their threat entirely.

He had listened to their words but merely found them somewhat absurd.

"Two dead brains..."

Shane muttered quietly to himself.

"Hmm?"

Milu stopped in her tracks and tilted her head in a confused manner.

"What did you say?"

Lide narrowed her eyes with a somewhat unfriendly expression.

"Nothing." Shane would naturally not admit to it and gave them a big smile, "Let’s go, ladies, shall we continue our stroll?"

"Stroll?" Milu’s head tilted even more severely.

"This isn’t a stroll," Lide countered.

"Right, right, right," Shane responded, still appearing unconcerned.

That attitude would have irked others by now, but Milu and Lide didn’t seem bothered—one continued to be confused, the other seemingly too lazy to argue, forming a strange and incomprehensible pair.

And so, the group continued onward.

Until, at one moment, Shane’s gaze sharpened, and he abruptly stopped walking.

In that instant, he sensed a familiar magic power.

This magic power was somewhat evil, somewhat dark, somewhat chaotic, and fierce. It was exceedingly uncomfortable.

Shane’s expression darkened and even turned somewhat ugly.

It wasn’t just Shane, even Milu seemed to have a dangerous look in her eyes, baring her fangs like a little lioness.

"Do you feel it?"

Only Lide maintained her nonchalant demeanor, her mouth curling into a smile as she watched Shane.

Shane didn’t say anything, he just suddenly quickened his pace, transforming into a ghostly figure and darted forward.

Around his waist, the sealed Holy Sword had already been drawn.

And the moment Shane drew the sword, from the depths of the forest ahead, a dark shadow also surged out like a fierce beast that had been lying in wait.

"Roar!"

A ferocious roar echoed from the mouth of the other.

On closer inspection, it was an extremely gruesome and terrifying monster.

It had the head of a wolf with a snake head protruding from its chest. Six arms, some growing from its back, some from its legs, and a tail extending from its face—there was not a single trait of a natural creature. It looked like a haphazardly assembled grotesquery, ugly and horrifying, causing a physical sense of discomfort in anyone who saw it.

Such a species was no longer a demon, nor any known life form in this world.

And yet, Shane knew the name of this monster.

——— "Refined Demon."

This monster was used as a sacrifice, to become the nourishment for the Demon Infant, born from a "Demon Refining Ceremony," where monsters and the Demon Clan, after battling each other and consuming one another’s flesh and Magic Power, were brought into existence.

"Roar!"

The gruesome Refined Demon, as if hunting, pounced towards Shane.

That speed, so fast that one could only see a blurred afterimage, proved that the opponent’s Level was very high and its strength was formidable.

But Shane simply had a cold gleam in his eyes as he met it head-on, not dodging in the slightest.

The Refined Demon’s wolf mouth gaped open and viciously clamped down towards Shane’s head.

"Clash!"

In that instant, a sword light, like a crescent moon blossoming in darkness, flashed by.

"Splat!"

The gruesome Refined Demon didn’t even have time to react before its head was severed by that ultimate flash, with the wolf’s head soaring into the sky.

"[Grant·Burning]."

Shane uttered the Magic spell with an icy tone.

Upon him, an astonishing Magic Power was released.

"Boom——!"

In the dark forest, a sudden blaze shot up into the sky, illuminating the surroundings.

The unexpected flames set the forest ablaze, causing the fire to burn intensely.

Shane stood in the middle of this Fire Sea, watching the Refined Demon being burned to ashes before he was willing to stop.

But his expression still wasn’t very good.

At this time, Milu and Lide approached him.

"It seems you really hate this creature."

Lide smiled as if very satisfied.

"It’s all burned! It’s all burned!"

Milu also cheered joyfully, darting about in the Fire Sea, seemingly oblivious to the surrounding flames, moving freely without a single spark touching her.

Shane then turned to Lide.

"What’s going on here?" Shane asked curtly. "Why is there a Refined Demon appearing here?"

Instead of an answer, Lide retorted with a question of her own.

"I’d like to ask you, why do you think there wouldn’t be a Refined Demon appearing here?"

Lide’s counter-question left Shane stunned at first, then he fell silent.

Seeing this, Lide nodded.

"You know, don’t you? The so-called Refined Demons are the product of ceremonies conducted by the Old Demon Clan Faction, essentially sacrifices and nourishment. The Demon Clan and monsters lose their reason under the influence of the ceremony, resort to slaughtering and devouring each other, and thus transformed into these monsters," Lide explained expressionlessly. "For this reason, the ceremony needs to be conducted in a place with a lot of the Demon Clan or monsters, and the more and the higher their Levels, the better."

For this reason, the Galuo Li Family, in collusion with the Old Demon Clan Faction, had set their sights on Artlu Canyon, because there were many high-Level monsters there.

And then...

"Taiger Forest is the largest Monster Forest in the world, even housing many Legendary Level monsters that have existed from ancient times until today."

Lide sneered coldly.

"With such a perfect site for the ceremony, do you think those bastards of the Old Demon Clan’s Primordial Demons wouldn’t covet this place?"

This was the reason why Refined Demons appeared here.
