Chapter 436: 428 "Blessing Oath
"Moro..."
Shane couldn’t help but silently repeat this name several times in his mind.
He had a feeling that he should not overlook this woman named Moro.
Not to mention, if she really was involved as the mastermind behind the Cosmos incident, then he had a reason to cause her trouble.
That debt, Shane had never forgotten.
And this woman was obviously not simple.
"I have investigated her, but I could not find any information about her origins, as if she truly popped up out of nowhere, first appearing in the Leferut Family; and prior to that, I could find no trace of her identity at all."
Harvis’s tone was filled with wariness and hatred towards Moro.
"But without a doubt, she is a cancer of the Empire, the enemy who harmed my father, my mother, and possibly my sister as well."
This time, Harvis came here to find an opportunity to take Moro down.
"My father has gone mad, completely enchanted by Moro, he doesn’t even inquire about incidents, even when Cappelen is involved."
"He doesn’t listen to me either, if it weren’t for a group of Nobles led by Lord Rocque, who have long been dissatisfied with him, supporting me, I as the first heir wouldn’t even be able to stay till now."
"I know, they definitely won’t give me the throne; be it my father or Moro, they are just wantonly abusing power, playing with lives."
"If it goes on like this, I will probably never be able to do anything against them, and sooner or later, I will be eliminated by them too, which is why I seized this opportunity to come to the Kingdom seeking help."
Harvis’s explanations finally made clear what he was really planning.
Whether it was contacting himself or competing with him, it was merely a means for Harvis to achieve his goals.
Because of the relationship between the Kingdom and the Empire, even if he approached the Royal Family directly as the Imperial Prince, it wasn’t certain they would believe his intentions; it was also improper for them to directly interfere in another country’s governance just based on Harvis’s word.
Hence, Harvis chose to start with Shane.
Firstly, Shane had close dealings with Luoqi, who could definitely introduce Harvis.
Secondly, competing with Shane and showcasing his own strength in front of the Royal Family would help him gain recognition and attention from the Royal Family.
Thirdly, with a Demon backing Shane, Harvis definitely wanted to try and secure this power on his side.
Moreover, battling with the First Priority Candidate in this suitor selection event would thoroughly confuse the Empire’s informants, making them believe that he was truly here to compete; this plan produced four benefits in one move, why wouldn’t Harvis employ it?
Shane understood why, after the competition, Harvis granted him such a significant favor.
All of this was to better connect with him and receive some of his assistance.
"To be honest, other than a lord who has just become a Noble, I couldn’t ask for help from other Nobles, not being certain if they would be hostile towards the Empire, nor assure myself that there would be no eyes of the Empire among them, and I don’t know if they would choose to use me to push the Empire into dire straits."
Harvis said with a bitter smile.
"Only a newly appointed lord, backed by a Demon, who once rejected a title, can I be sure that you are not from the Empire, and not likely to act out of self-interest, and probably your hostility towards our Empire wouldn’t be as intense as those Nobles in the Royal Capital, right?"
The Nobles in the Royal Capital had almost all suffered from the large-scale assassination plot ten years ago; their hatred towards the Empire was imaginable.
Therefore, Harvis’s choice to first connect with Shane was also out of desperation.
Coincidentally, Shane also had someone he wanted to protect,
And that was Thielle.
Harvis believed, Shane would not stand by and let Thielle be harmed by the Leferut family, and having experienced the Cosmos incident himself, he could not have any good feelings towards Moro, who was likely involved in the incident.
Therefore, Harvis decided to first connect with Shane, hoping to gain his assistance.
Shane understood all this but did not state his position immediately.
"Why does the Leferut Family want to kill Thielle?"
Shane decided to first understand this matter.
Unfortunately, Harvis did not seem to have a clear understanding of the insider details.
"I only know that it was an order given by Moro," Harvis said. "According to the information I’ve gathered, Moro needs to use Thielle Elbein’s corpse for some purpose, so when I proposed to come to the Kingdom to compete for a suitor, she sent William over, ostensibly to guard me, but really to monitor my every move and to take the opportunity to bring Thielle Elbein back. For this, she specifically stated that she doesn’t need her alive."
Because of this, Harvis said that William planned to kill Thielle.
"William, originally from the Leferut Family, has always been discontent with the family’s efforts to bring Thielle Elbein back, feeling that his position within the family was threatened by her, and thus when Moro gave the order, he immediately volunteered, probably also wanting to use this opportunity to outright kill Thielle Elbein, leaving no survivors."
