Why must the devil be Defeated?
Chapter 390 - 386 "Core of Existence

Chapter 390: 386 "Core of Existence

At that moment, in mid-air, Ai Yi and Anima had completely enveloped Lilith within the source of light, bringing everything back to tranquility.

If it weren’t for the transparent barrier still above Cosmos, everything on the ground would have already been leveled, leaving Cosmos nothing but a wasteland and ruins. Besides that, nothing was left behind. If someone told others this wasn’t a dream, perhaps they would think all the catastrophes that had occurred up until now were merely figments of their imagination?

"You had already disappeared, hadn’t you? How come you are here?"

At this time, Shane cast his gaze upon Lasha, his face still a picture of confusion.

Seeing this, Lasha gave a wry smile.

"It’s a long story; I’ll tell you about it later if there’s a chance," Lasha briefly touched on the subject and then told Shane, "I never expected you to turn up here, and even get involved with the Evil God Lilith."

Lasha truly hadn’t expected this.

So when she first arrived and saw Shane, Lasha was quite startled.

But now, it seemed not the time to worry about such things.

"You’re all right, Mr. Xi’en?"

Lasha cautiously asked Shane.

Beside him, it wasn’t just Lasha; there was another girl.

"I... I thought I was surely dead..."

Iris was standing with Lasha and the others for some unknown duration, her face still pallid and her heart lingering with fright.

Obviously, in the catastrophe caused by the Evil God Lilith, Iris had nearly faced death multiple times, and it seemed she had been rescued by Lasha’s group, which was why she appeared here now.

"I’m fine."

Shane shook his head and replied to Lasha, then did not bother with anything else, directly turning his gaze back to mid-air.

There, Ai Yi and Anima had already descended.

"Not bad," Ai Yi began with praise, saying, "Facing that maniac and holding your ground to this extent, you’re more capable than I imagined."

It looked like the Dragon Demon was quite satisfied with Shane’s performance.

On the other hand, there was another person whom Shane did not recognize. His eyes were firmly closed, yet it seemed as if he was intently staring at Shane, making Shane clearly feel the "gaze" lingering on him.

"Who are you?"

Shane furrowed his brow and asked.

Although he didn’t know who the other was, Shane could feel an astonishing magic power and an immensely strong life force from him, making him wary not to underestimate the individual.

Naturally, the person wouldn’t underestimate Shane either.

After all, not only Ai Yi and the others had seen Shane’s performance, but Anima had noticed it as well.

Thus, Anima gave Shane a respectful bow.

"I am Anima, please just call me by my name."

The attitude was as if she was dealing with a highly esteemed guest.

Shane didn’t mind.

However, her name made Shane instantly recognize her background.

"You said Anima?" Shane exclaimed in astonishment, "You are the Life Goddess?"

"What... what?" Iris trembled from head to toe next, her expression shifting between shock and excitement as she looked toward Anima.

Undoubtedly, this was the first time Iris had seen the Life Goddess, the being she worshiped.

Being a Holy Daughter and the spokesperson of the Life Goddess in the Human Realm, but without having received blessings or gone to the Divine World, Iris had never seen the Life Goddess in person.

Rather, many people never had the chance to meet the god they worshiped.

Gods generally only appeared in the Human Realm when granting blessings, otherwise staying in the Divine World, seldom appearing in other realms.

Therefore, other than visiting the Divine World, the only opportunity to meet a god was when receiving blessings.

Iris, being the Holy Daughter of the Beastman Race, albeit due to a series of fortunate events tied to her title, had met several goddesses, but facing one of the Three Great Goddesses, who stood at the pinnacle among the Divine Race, not just her, even the Pope of the Temple and the king of a country had rarely had this opportunity.

This was why Luoqi, who had been allowed to travel to the Divine World at any time and even had been solicited by the Divine Race to reside in the Divine World, was so exceptional.

In such circumstances, encountering the divine being she always worshiped and prayed to for the first time in her life, Iris was naturally both shocked and excited.

"You’ve endured much this time, Saintess Iris."

Anima didn’t neglect Iris, affectionately stroking Iris’ head.

"Ah..."

The color rapidly returned to Iris’ pale face; she obediently let Anima pat her while becoming so moved that she was nearly in tears.

Having her life’s faith and everything she offered up acknowledged and consoled by the goddess personally was enough to make Iris feel fulfilled.

Anima treated Iris like her own child, then turned to Shane with a smile, initiating the conversation.

"Maybe this is your first time meeting me, but I’ve been watching you for a few days now, so please, don’t be too formal with me."

Anima’s words contained many things Shane wanted to pursue.

But more than those, what Shane urgently wanted to know was the current situation.

"Have you... what have you done with Lilith?" Shane couldn’t help but say, "Did you seal her up again?"

Shane had to be concerned about this.

If that was indeed the case, all his efforts would have been in vain.

"Don’t worry," Ai Yi seemed to have seen through Shane’s thoughts and thus explained concisely, "That was just a temporary isolation, just like what you did in this city called Cosmos."

Shane had isolated Cosmos from the external world with a barrier, turning it into an independent area.

Ai Yi and Anima had only performed the same task.

Of course, their actions were not on the same level as the Barrier Shane had created.

After all, the task was carried out jointly by two of the Six Great Demons and the Three Great Goddesses, and Shane could not yet comprehend the subtleties involved.

But hearing that it was only temporary, Shane tentatively let go of half of his worries.

As for the other half, it was too early to let go now.

"Now, Goddess Lillith must still be struggling."

Anima then withdrew her smile and uttered these words.

"Struggling?"

Shane couldn’t help but be drawn into the conversation.

"Yes," Anima nodded and honestly said, "The rational Half Body has now returned to the original body, but the very nature of the Evil God as the controller of darkness and chaos will not easily allow rationality. Thus, for the rational Half Body to regain the body and power and become a true goddess, it must struggle against the instincts of darkness and chaos."

Only if this struggle succeeded could Jade reclaim everything and gain full control over her own body and power.

And if it failed...

"...It would be very dangerous, right?"

Shane quietly asked after a moment of silence.

Anima did not respond but simply nodded.

Suddenly, the atmosphere became somewhat oppressive.

Everyone fell silent and looked towards the light source in the midair, uncertain of what to say.

Shane felt the same.

"That fool," Shane said helplessly, "She could have waited longer."

If they had just waited a bit longer, Shane could have found a way to weaken Lillith’s power further, giving Jade a better chance at reclaiming her original state.

"The outcome actually turned out quite well," Anima said. "Originally, the rational Half Body’s return to the original body was almost impossible. Now, at least there is a slight turn of events, and it doesn’t seem as hopeless as before."

"That’s true," said Ai Yi lightly. "The power of the Evil God isn’t something that can be weakened just by saying so. Otherwise, the Divine Race would have done it the last time Lillith rampaged on the ground, to help that Half Body return, right?"

"Yes," sighed Anima, "No matter how severe the injuries are, Evil God Lillith wouldn’t care or be affected by them—I can guarantee that."

If it weren’t so, Lillith sealed within the crystal, wouldn’t be as scarred as she was when Shane saw her.

Those scars were left by the Divine Race trying to stop her rampage.

But it ended up being futile, forcing the Divine Race to eventually resort to sealing her using the combined power of the Three Great Goddesses.

This time, there had been a turn of events.

"Because of the power of the Holy Sword, this time, it wasn’t just that Evil God Lillith got injured; her power was truly suppressed and weakened, so now there’s a chance, right?"

Laischa chimed in with her thoughts.

"If it weren’t for the weakening by the Holy Sword, a rational Half Body with hardly any power, even if able to return, would have had a hard time reclaiming the body, right?"

Lasha spoke emotionlessly.

"That’s exactly it," said Anima softly. "The rational Half Body is now constantly trying to fight against the weakened Evil God’s power. Looking at the situation, it seems that there’s not no hope."

"But the hope is not very large, is it?" Ai Yi glanced at Anima and said, "If it weren’t so, that Half Body wouldn’t have entrusted the ’True Seal’ to this kid."

Ai Yi’s words rendered Laischa and Lasha silent and caused Ilyss to start in shock.

"Miss Jade entrusted the ’True Seal’ to Mr. Shane...!?"

Ilyss exclaimed in amazement, even shocked.

"’True Seal’?"

Shane furrowed his brows, thought of something, and rolled up the sleeve on his arm.

There, the patterned mark left by Jade before her return to the original body remained.

"What is this thing?"

Shane couldn’t help but ask.

It was Anima who answered Shane’s question.

"That is the fundamental Core of Existence of our Divine Race."

Anima turned her head, her closed eyes seemingly looking at Shane.

"Our Divine Race originates from the split from Goddess Ominis herself, and is also the only Race that is undying and undestroyed."

This was something previously mentioned.

The number of goddesses in the Divine Race is limited and fixed.

Even if they die, they will reincarnate after a period of time and revive.

"Unless our Supreme God dies, our Divine Race will never cease to exist."

Anima said so.

"The reason this is possible is because even if the body and even the soul are destroyed, our ’Core of Existence’ remains, eventually forming the center to reconstruct the body and soul."

At these words, Shane’s heart leapt suddenly.

If this was the case, then...

"The Core of Existence entrusted to you by the Half Body is her ’True Seal’."

Anima’s voice slowly entered Shane’s ears.

"Once destroyed, she will completely disappear, never to reincarnate or revive again."
