Why must the devil be Defeated? -
Chapter 364 - 361 Troublesome Problem Child
Chapter 364: 361 Troublesome Problem Child
At this time, Shane was still unaware that, as he had burst into the Dark Temple and almost broken the seal of the Evil God Lilith, taking the holy daughter of the Beastman Race back home, in other corners of Cosmos, several events were also unfolding.
For example, an Imperial Princess from the Empire woke up to realize that she had been completely defeated by Shane; she became so despondent that she did not utter a single word all day. This concerned the Female Knights of the Broken Blade Knights to such an extent that they ultimately had no choice but to report back to the Empire.
Then there was the First Knight Order, who, having been humiliated and witnessed the ruins left by the fierce battle between Shane and Cappelen, seemed to have become aware that the situation within Cosmos was gradually becoming more complex and dangerous. As a result, they too sought instructions from the Sterling Family, daring not to make any rash moves for the time being.
Of course, Yuri still had the knights report Shane’s movements to this side at all times, showing great concern for Shane and his party.
Especially the two little girls with Shane, Yuri specifically instructed that they must not be disturbed, otherwise severe punishment would be meted out.
Under such circumstances, it seemed the Beastman Priest Group was also ceaselessly searching for Iris’s whereabouts in Cosmos.
Adding to that the huge disturbances caused by Shane’s Celestial Magic and Grant Magic a while back, as well as the increasingly frequent and inexplicable phenomena of shifting in Cosmos, the whole Cosmos now felt like a storm was approaching, becoming extremely oppressive, with the air growing very heavy.
Without a doubt, this was the calm before the storm.
The longer this calm lasted, the more it proved that the undercurrents surging beneath the surface were dreadfully formidable.
At the very least, both the Kingdom and Empire had gradually become aware that something was amiss and began to worry whether the situation here might deteriorate. The Beastman Race, in particular, was stirred into action in this Cosmos because of Iris’s situation, and scenes of Beastman Priests going from house to house in search were often witnessed, causing much unease among many.
And this unease undoubtedly touched the nerves of many, leading quite a few to think that they needed to act promptly to break the current deadlock.
There were even signs of the Empire sending reinforcements, and for this reason, the Kingdom had not been lacking in strategic planning, seemingly preparing to do something.
In contrast, Shane here had no incidents and welcomed a period of relative peace.
That night, Shane was in the bath, soaking as usual, as he reported the situation to a certain princess who was becoming increasingly anxious.
"In summary, this time it’s probably not just an issue with the Old Demon Clan Faction, but there are bigger problems waiting to be solved, just as you predicted, becoming super troublesome."
Shane, with his bare upper body soaking in the water, spoke these words to the screen that had appeared in front of him.
On the screen, Luoqi listened to Shane’s complaint-like words, her face filled with confusion.
"I..."
Luoqi was completely baffled.
What’s going on?
What exactly is going on?
How had things become so terrifying in just a short period of time?
The Evil God Lilith?
The Beastman Priest Group?
Ancient secrets?
The possibility of Hell reemerging?
How should things unfold for them to have reached such an astonishing point?
Compared to this, conflicts with the Empire Princess seemed incredibly trivial.
What made Luoqi even more vexed was that her little man, Shane, seemed to have gotten himself into an extremely troublesome situation.
"Was it you who almost broke the seal?"
"Did you also pick up the half body of the evil god?"
"You... You kidnapped the holy daughter of the Beastman Race?"
One shocking development after another exploded in Luoqi’s mind, almost making her doubt if she was dreaming.
And Shane, seeing Luoqi in such a state, felt a bit awkward.
"Don’t look at me like that; I can’t handle too much praise."
Shane scratched his face and laughed.
"Who is praising you...!?"
The thought of killing Shane crossed Luoqi’s mind.
Was this something to be praised for?
This was the kind of thing that made burying you alive seem too light a punishment!
"I’m really foolish... I’m so foolish..." Luoqi murmured to herself, almost in a state of self-isolation: "I should have known better, with your level of troublemaking, that you wouldn’t simply finish the original mission and be done. I never should have let you go..."
With that, Luoqi cradled her head, seemingly unable to accept the reality.
"Well, don’t be so pessimistic," Shane chuckled dryly, hastily offering comfort: "Think on the bright side; don’t you think this is a silver lining in the misfortune?"
Not at all!
Luoqi really wanted to say that.
But Shane spoke first.
"Think about it; even without my involvement, the situation would still have become this severe," Shane said: "The spatial nodes guarded by the Beastman Priests were destroyed by some mysterious figure behind the scenes. It seems the Old Demon Clan Faction also had a hand in this operation, attacking the Beastman tribes. If that’s the case, it proves that both the figure behind the scenes and the Old Demon Clan Faction have set their sights on the seal of the Evil God Lilith, right?"
This was the truth.
The reason why the situation had developed to this point was, after all, not caused by Shane.
"Since there are people watching the seal of the Evil God Lilith from the shadows, even if I hadn’t intervened, someone else would have eventually tried to break that seal, right?"
That was Shane’s view.
But to Luoqi, it still sounded like Shane was making excuses.
"Is it possible that a seal which can confine such an Evil God could be broken so easily?" Luoqi glared at Shane and said bluntly, "That is a seal set by the Three Great Goddesses themselves, strong enough to contain the most powerful of Evil Gods. Even if there is a way to undo it, it definitely can’t be something done with ease."
Indeed, that was the case.
If it weren’t for Shane, the so-called mastermind behind the scenes would have to go through great lengths to break the seal of the Evil God Lilith, otherwise they would have already invaded the Temple by now.
The Temple’s seal was not some fragile thing, apart from Shane, the unknown Hero, there were very few who could easily undo it.
"If it weren’t for the timely appearance of the Beastman Race’s Holy Daughter, you would have already released the Evil God. I really want to crack open your head and see what exactly you have in there."
Luoqi grit her teeth in anger.
Shane also knew that arguing was pointless.
There was no helping it, he was somewhat at fault in this matter.
However, this was just an apparent situation that made Shane seem at fault.
In the eyes of others, Shane indeed almost caused a huge disaster, but in Shane’s eyes, he was just trying to help Jade and following a strange premonition in his heart. That’s why he acted as he did.
So, Shane did not regret his actions.
After all, before doing anything, Shane had considered whether it would be unwise, and in the end, with the willingness to risk even mistakes, he decided to act.
Therefore, Shane had already prepared himself mentally.
This meant...
"I am ready to clean up the mess."
Shane indicated this to Luoqi.
Luoqi was immediately somewhat annoyed yet found it somewhat amusing.
"You are the most reckless Hero I have ever seen," sighed Luoqi. "Since things have come to this, there’s no point talking about it anymore."
"And then?" Shane looked at Luoqi and asked, "What do you plan to do?"
"Isn’t that obvious?" Luoqi rolled her eyes and said, "Of course, I have to report this to the Kingdom."
That made sense.
Now that an Evil God from the ancient times was implicated, the events within Cosmos had clearly exceeded what the Sterling Family could handle.
Even the Kingdom might not have the ability to cope with this matter.
"Fortunately, you have the Dragon Demon Lord on your side, and according to what the Dragon Demon Lord said, the Divine Race should have already sensed that the seal was undone. The Life Goddess is likely to come in person to repair the seal, so things haven’t reached the worst point yet."
Luoqi’s face grew stern, and she asked with some gravity, "What do you plan to do next?"
This was the first thing that needed to be clarified.
Should one say, fitting for Luoqi?
"You don’t seem to plan on fully siding with the Divine Race and the Beastman Race, do you?"
Luoqi saw through Shane’s intentions.
"Do you want to help the half body of the Evil God, help that child named Jade?"
Luoqi outright voiced Shane’s intentions.
Shane did not deny it.
"I might as well try," said Shane. "It’s just that I don’t know how to do it."
How could he help Jade fulfill her wish, return to her original form, and not be erased, yet be able to contain the chaotic instinct and control the power of the Evil God Lilith to become a true Goddess?
This was the problem Shane needed to find a solution to first.
If there was no solution, Shane might use some forceful methods.
Such as...
"I have thought about simply breaking Lilith’s seal, releasing her, teaming up with Ai Yi to injure her, weaken her powers, reduce her threat, and then let Jade return."
Shane felt this method was feasible; otherwise, he wouldn’t have had such a strong urge to break the seal, believing that doing so could help Jade.
Although he didn’t know what the premonition was about, Shane had some clues and chose to trust it.
The problem was that this premonition probably only told Shane that it could work, but didn’t tell him what would happen once it was done.
"Don’t mess around!" Luoqi hurriedly said: "According to what you’ve said, the Evil God Lilith is a terrifying existence that once nearly turned the world into Hell. Releasing such a dangerous being is far too risky!"
Following Iris and Ai Yi, Luoqi also denied the plan, believing that the Evil God Lilith should not be released.
This was the same problem troubling Shane.
"But if I don’t do that, what else can I do?"
Shane replied irritably.
"Don’t be impulsive; let’s take our time to plan," Luoqi first reassured Shane, then said, "I’ll see what the Kingdom plans to do, help you look up information, and ask friends from the Divine Race. Perhaps we can find a solution."
"That works," Shane considered and nodded, "No need to rush; trying out your way isn’t a bad idea."
"Alright," Luoqi nodded and said, "I’ll hurry and proceed. You just stay out of trouble for a while, and don’t cause any more chaos, okay?"
Shane rolled his eyes immediately.
Am I really being treated like a troublemaking child?
Damn it!
