Chapter 351: Who doesn’t have a big shot in their family?
"There are intruders!"
"There are intruders!"
Just as Shane was lost in thought, suddenly, in the temple ahead, a group of Beastman Priests roared as if they had discovered something, causing a commotion and then all headed his way.
"Eh?"
Shane snapped to attention, somewhat surprised.
Because he had the Concealment Skill, and without making himself known, he hadn’t thought he would be discovered.
Even if the Beastmen were naturally sharp with their five senses, in the face of the Level 10 Concealment Skill, Shane should have even been able to hide his scent. By all reason, he should not have been so easily detected.
But then, Shane understood.
"Is it an issue with the flow of magic power around here?"
Indeed that was the case.
Due to his proximity to the Temple, the magic power that flowed outward from the Temple seemed to have reached Shane, causing a repulsion.
Under the influence of that magic power, most people would be directly transported out and wouldn’t be able to stay there.
However, Shane had the Magic Resistance Skill, at Level 10 as well, and thus resisted the oncoming magic power. Without being too close to the Temple, he wasn’t easily transported away.
This led to the Temple’s magic power flowing around Shane’s vicinity, all of it being blocked off, creating a void devoid of the Temple’s magic power at his location.
The Beastman Priests hadn’t discovered Shane, but their naturally sharp senses detected the void of magic power, and so they immediately found Shane, their alertness triggered, and came together towards him.
"Who is there!?"
One of the Beastmen shouted out with a fierce expression.
However, when he reached Shane and saw the Jade by his side, his expression changed drastically.
"Half—!?"
The Beastman Priest was about to shout something.
Sadly, Shane didn’t give him the chance.
"Sorry, I can’t let you continue to make a racket here."
Shane suddenly flashed in front of the Beastman Priest like a specter.
"Bang!"
With a muffled sound, Shane’s fist landed heavily on the Beastman Priest’s abdomen.
"Ugh...!?"
The Beastman Priest’s eyes bulged, his body doubled over, clutching his abdomen.
To this, Shane had only one comment.
"Truly worthy of the physically superior Beastman Race, trained to Level 60 or above, of course impossible to knock out with one hit, not bad at taking a beating."
As his words fell, Shane delivered a ruthless chop down with his hand.
"Bang!"
The second thud, a heavy hand chop landed on the back of the Beastman Priest’s neck, cutting off his voice abruptly, and at last, he fell down and lost consciousness.
Only then did Shane pick up the silently watching Jade, and in a flash, he disappeared.
A group of Beastman Priests slowly gathered and approached their knocked-out comrade.
"Be on guard!"
"Quick, be on guard!"
"Someone has been knocked out!"
The cries of the Beastman Priests intermittently rose.
By this time, Shane was already carrying Jade, having left that spot and appeared on the other side of the Temple.
To be specific, they materialized in front of the Temple’s main entrance.
There were also Beastman Priests guarding this place. Although they knew a situation had arisen, they forcefully suppressed their anxiety, not daring to leave.
Clearly, their duty was to guard the Temple and prevent intrusions; thus, they could not abandon their posts, even if troubles occurred elsewhere.
"It looks a bit tricky."
Shane thought as much.
Because of Magic Resistance, he was still fending off the Temple’s magic power, causing an abnormal flow of magic power around him.
In such a case, it was only a matter of time before the surrounding Beastman Priests noticed the anomaly and discovered him.
"Should I retreat?"
Shane contemplated this, but then he met Jade’s eyes.
In those amethyst-like pupils, emotions imperceptible to others lay hidden.
"... It seems I have no choice but to break through by force."
Shane chuckled bitterly.
If possible, Shane didn’t want to force his way through.
Not for any other reason but because if these Beastman Priests were truly the Priest Group of the Beastman Race’s Holy Daughter, then it meant they were the envoys of the Life Goddess in the Human Realm.
Facing the envoys of the Life Goddess, even a King wouldn’t dare to slight them, and the Temple’s Divine Practitioners would treat them as honored guests, with the utmost courtesy.
Especially the Beastman Race’s Holy Daughter, whose status was on par with the Temple Pope; even the King would have to treat her with respect.
If Shane just stormed through the territory defended by the Beastman Priest Group, he could probably expect to clash with the Life Goddess.
Given the situation, Shane naturally didn’t wish to have too great a conflict with the other party.
But judging by that Beastman Priest’s reaction, Jade’s presence might provoke their hostility.
In such a case...
"If I’m carrying Jade, unless I intend to abandon her, it seems I’m undoubtedly going to confront the Beastman Priest Group, right?"
Then, rather than waiting for that moment to come, it might be better to take a direct approach now and commence hostilities.
Despite the support behind the other side appearing strong, Shane didn’t feel too threatened.
"Who doesn’t have a powerhouse of their own?"
If it came down to it, close the doors and unleash Ai Yi.
And so...
"Flying Star!"
Shane charged decisively and cast his spell without any hesitation.
"Boom boom boom boom boom—!"
The Rain of Light immediately descended from the sky, exploding upon the Beastman Priests who hadn’t managed to react in time, causing them to howl in pain.
"Attack!"
"Attack!"
The Beastman Priests, struck down to the ground, first shouted, and then were bombarded by a series of meteor-like streams of light, rendering them completely unconscious.
In front of the grand entrance of the Temple, for a moment, there was flying dust and continuous Rain of Light, accompanied by non-stop sounds of explosions, roars, and the angry howls and cries of the Beastman Priests.
By the time Shane emerged from the dust, those Beastman Priests were already sprawled across the ground.
However, Shane did not relax his expression.
"What a strong resistance..."
Shane felt that as he neared the Temple, the magic power flowing out from the Temple struck him more intensely, attempting to repel him.
Thanks to this, Shane felt as though he were walking against a strong wind, his steps heavy.
"If it weren’t for the ’Magic Resistance’ skill, I certainly would have been transported away by now."
Shane looked at the grand entrance of the Temple and furrowed his brows.
Under such strong repulsion, Shane’s ’Magic Resistance’ skill seemed to be reaching its limit, with magic power consistently seeping into his vicinity, like droplets squeezed from stone crevices, bound to eventually touch Shane himself.
Shane was certain that once he stepped into the Temple, he would be transported away.
"Even a ’Magic Resistance’ skill at level 10 can’t completely resist this magic power?"
What exactly is the origin of this Temple?
Shane’s curiosity began to pique.
Just as Shane was contemplating whether to use the Holy Sword to boost his ’Magic Resistance’ skill level or to rush into the Temple under its protection, suddenly, Jade broke free from his embrace.
"Jade?"
Shane was slightly taken aback.
Under Shane’s gaze, Jade slowly walked towards the direction of the Temple’s grand entrance.
Seeing this, Shane suddenly noticed something abnormal.
"The Temple’s magic power is not repelling Jade?"
Shane revealed a look of astonishment.
Indeed, the Temple’s magic power was not repelling Jade; instead, it seemed to be welcoming her, allowing her to approach the Temple’s grand entrance.
Jade came to the entrance, reached out, and touched the door.
"Rumble rumble rumble..."
The next second, as if welcoming Jade, the grand door opened slowly amidst heavy rumbling sounds.
The scene was like greeting a returning master.
Only then did Jade turn her head to look at Shane.
In her eyes, Shane saw a message.
"Follow me."
As if Jade wanted to say that.
Shane didn’t manage to respond immediately.
"Over there!"
"Quick, get over here!"
The incensed shouts of the Beastman Priests entered Shane’s ears, making him aware that more Beastman Priests were approaching the Temple from all sides.
"Flying Star!"
Instantly, Shane used Asphyxiation Magic once more, unleashing countless flying stars from the sky, transforming into Rain of Light, assaulting the surroundings.
"Boom boom boom boom boom—!"
The sounds of explosions and roars once again filled the air, accompanied by the increasingly incensed shrieks of the Beastman Priests.
Only then did Shane follow Jade into the dark Temple.
"Rumble rumble rumble..."
The Temple’s grand door immediately closed automatically, cutting off all outside sounds.
Everything returned to calm.
Shane then reined in his magic power and looked ahead.
"There... seems to be nobody...?"
None of Shane’s Perception Skills reacted.
However, Shane could still feel a very strong flow of magic power.
That magic power stormed towards him like a tempest, making Shane feel as if turned into dust, entering the nostril of a giant beast, about to be blown out by the creature’s breath.
Fortunately, this time, the magic power actively avoided Shane, not striking him, otherwise, Shane certainly would have been repelled.
"Is it because of you, Jade?"
Shane looked towards Jade beside him.
Jade was also looking at Shane, nodding affirmatively toward him, confirming Shane’s guess.
The young girl then took Shane’s hand, her eyes like amethysts lighting up unconsciously, causing all magic power to bypass Shane.
Thus, Shane successfully entered the Temple; otherwise, he definitely would have needed to use the power of the Holy Sword to deal with the issue of being repelled.
"What should we do next?"
Shane asked Jade.
Jade didn’t respond but instead directly took Shane’s hand, pulling him deeper into the Temple.
"Tap—tap—tap—tap—"
In the utterly silent Temple, the footsteps of the two, one large and one small, seemed so clear, so resonant.
Shane observed his surroundings while continuously following Jade forward... walking...
After an indeterminate amount of time, the long corridor came to an end.
Shane and Jade entered a vast hall and were met with an astonishing sight.
"What..."
Shane inhaled sharply.
