Who let him join the Sword Sect?!
Chapter 97: This Is How We Card Players Are

Chapter 97: Chapter 97: This Is How We Card Players Are

There are not many Saints who pave paths for others, but there are indeed many who watch others jump into ditches.

Underground City, Heavenly Cave Tomb

The low-tier Sword Spirit dressed as a Corpse Demon, following the preset routine, kicked the seventh unlucky individual of the day into the ditch.

This unlucky guy was worse off than Chen Jiu; Chen Jiu advanced cautiously, so he lingered longer in the Underground City.

This guy was rash, charged straight forward upon entering, thus the speed at which he fell into the ditch was exceptionally fast.

He spent less than three minutes in the Underground City.

Upon coming out, he cheerfully warned those preparing to enter the Underground City, just like the ones before him.

"Watch out for that stone house, there are important items inside, but be wary of ambushes."

Yet he didn’t mention a word about the ditch and the fake Corpse Demon lurking behind the stone.

Seeing the eighth unlucky individual confidently stepping into the Teleportation Array, Unlucky Number Seven hurried over to the market area to find Li Hai.

Before Unlucky Number Seven could speak, Li Hai sneered coldly.

"You’re here to sell me Corpse Demon information too, aren’t you?"

"How did you know? Anyway, brother, I’m selling cheap, I’ll just charge you ten Spirit Stones, bargain price."

"Get lost! You’re the seventh person today trying to trick me."

After driving away this freeloading fellow, Li Hai grinned with anger, turned around entered the inn, and booked an upper room.

He decided not to go to the Corpse Nurturing Land for now but would wait here for Chen Jiu to return.

When that scoundrel Chen Jiu comes back, he intended to duel him to the death.

Though the small card in the Underground City capsized the fragile friendship between Chen Jiu and Li Hai, it brought the girls at the Thousand Mechanism Pavilion closer.

The girls were playing cards.

After all, watching people constantly fall into ditches is quite a boring task.

And with Lin Feng and Wang Lin not scheduled until the afternoon at their present pace.

So when Zhang Ze noticed everyone was getting a bit bored, he took out another set of cards he had finished making three days ago.

There were two sets of these small cards, the first set akin to Talismans, containing information stored within golden cards.

The second set consisted purely of silver cards meant for playing.

Zhang Ze tweaked the rules of Hearthstone and Yu-Gi-Oh slightly.

He then incorporated the characteristics of those demonic creatures in the Four Continents to create a Cultivation-themed battle card game.

Named "Duel Inn"

He was now totally carefree, fearless.

With a "patch whenever possible" principle, Zhang Ze planned to start at the Thousand Mechanism Pavilion and, with the help of those merry Demon Race and Thousand Mechanism Cultivators, create more fun.

Later, Pikachu, Red Hat, and many others won’t escape.

Anyway, since he was in the Four Continents, they could send a legal team over if they have the guts.

"My turn, normal summon Immortal Ant. Activate effect, special summon two more Immortal Ants from Nine Netherworld."

"Directly attack Sister Qi!"

Chen Qin slapped the three cards with Immortal Ant images onto the field, then ended the game.

Have to say, Junior Sister’s talent in playing games was just as monstrous as her cultivation talent.

Just listening to Zhang Ze explain the rules once, Chen Qin crafted a deck herself.

She directly shattered Lily’s Tao Heart, who fancied herself a genius girl.

Then won three times consecutively against Li Yueqi, making her doubt her life.

Li Yueqi gazed at Zhang Ze suspiciously, "Did you teach Xiaoqin in advance?"

Zhang Ze shook his head like a rattle drum, "No, my Junior Sister is naturally gifted, didn’t you know that?"

A delighted Chen Qin waved her little hand at Li Yueqi and Lily, "Both of you, come at me!"

Accept death but not humiliation, who are you looking down, one against two?

Regaining her Tao Heart, Lily pulled Li Yueqi to the side; the two were preparing to reorganize their deck to properly target Chen Qin.

Seeing everyone having fun, Zhang Ze didn’t plan to mix in to avoid another sudden group attack.

He patted Li, who was watching merrily from the side.

"Let’s go."

"Why?" Li smoothly climbed up Zhang Ze’s trouser leg to his shoulder.

"There are two Cultivators almost reaching the hidden level at Gourd Cave, let’s go meet them as a warm-up."

"Okay."

...

It was almost noon, yet the progress in completing the two Underground Cities hadn’t surpassed ten percent for anyone.

The Cultivators at the Tomb, were either kicked into the ditch or happily ganged up on in the small stone house.

Only a few managed, either through their strength or luck, to cross the ditch.

Then upon entering the graveyard circle, they fell into Zhang Ze’s designed pack of dogs killing god’s Array.

These Cultivators very much wanted to know which cunning dog conceived such a nasty formation.

Not only hiding two fake dogs at Foundation Establishment behind every grave mound, but also placing cold-arrow-shooting Thousand Mechanism Puppets on stalactites hanging from the cave’s roof.

During the fight, all surrounded by barking dogs, these dogs specialized in headbutting your kidneys.

The person with the best record also helplessly failed here, chased back to the ditch by the pack of dogs.

As for the Gourd Cave side.

Better, but not by much.

At the Gourd Cave, fewer monsters but teeming with traps, crisscrossing like a maze.

After sealing the Escape Technique with an Array, without some capability, ordinary Cultivators, upon descending into the Gourd Cave lower layer, could forget about climbing out from the pit.

Except for some Body Refiners, due to their monster-like prowess.

Daxiong inserted his hand into the rock seam, climbing upwards, Hong Sen dangling on Daxiong’s back.

Without Spiritual Qi, Daxiong relied on the bear’s strength in his bloodline to climb out of the pit.

"Damn it, everyone has lonely moments, don’t let me catch the one designing traps, I’ll squash them."

It seemed Daxiong’s mantra, something Hong Sen was already accustomed to hearing.

Leaving the trap, Spiritual Qi restored its flow, easing their minds slightly.

Only, without any clue on the road ahead.

Daxiong rubbed his head, gazing at one larger and one smaller entrance before him; after thinking for a while, he removed his shoes.

Then fished out a Lucky Charm from his pocket, affixed it to the shoe, and tossed the shoe into the air.

The shoe bounced a few times upon landing, finally pointing its toe towards the smaller cave.

Daxiong looked at the hole larger than himself, annoyed but chose to trust his ancestral method and its judgment.

"Let’s go this way," Daxiong said to Hong Sen.

"Whatever, you’re leading after all." Hong Sen nodded.

"Alright."

The endpoint of the small hole led to a tomb chamber filled with various coffins, Zhang Ze crouched behind a large coffin, waiting for the duo’s arrival.

He wore a plain grey cloth, and with the Night Demon Emperor headband, Zhang Ze now resembled a headless ghost completely.

Perfectly suited for the tomb chamber atmosphere.

Meanwhile, Li sat at Zhang Ze’s feet, yawning.

Recently she wasn’t hungry but started feeling sleepy; despite lots of daily sleep, she remained drowsy.

After multiple diagnoses, confirming her not being infected by Qiao Lezhi, everyone reached a conclusion.

She might have overeaten again, causing thick blood, feeling sleepy.

"Shh, keep it down," Zhang Ze lightly patted Li, "They’re coming; get ready to transform."

Right after Zhang Ze spoke, a large hand pushed the tomb chamber’s stone door open a crack, then a Heaven-shaking Thunder, trademarked by Thousand Mechanism Pavilion, was tossed in.

Zhang Ze: "?"
