Chapter 530 - 15 Imitation
Chapter 530: 15 Imitation
A day later, Bai Wei and Vic arrived at a new small town.
Compared to Yade’s town, which only had a few hundred people and was more like a village, this new small town looked somewhat like a city.
Of course, that’s not quite accurate. If Bai Wei remembered correctly, this used to be a city... during the Senluo Period.
After the death of the God of Senluo, the night fell, the population of this land sharply declined, turning the city into a town, the town into a village, and the village into the few broken shacks they passed by yesterday.
After entering the small town, Bai Wei, familiar with the way, took Vic to a small inn, also the only inn in the town.
The innkeeper was a little girl with a ponytail. She cast a glance at Bai Wei, obviously not a local, and then at Vic, heavily wrapped up standing behind Bai Wei, raised an eyebrow, and curiously asked, "Outsiders, where are you from?"
"Why?" Bai Wei said with a smile, "Do you need proof of identity to stay here? Or is it that outsiders are not allowed to lodge?"
"Of course... not needed." The little girl spread her hands, saying, "We don’t even have a church here, who cares about outsiders? I’m just curious, because it’s rare for outsiders to come to this place. It’s just curiosity. If you are willing to satisfy my curiosity, I can give you a half discount on the room fee."
"Really?" Bai Wei asked with a smile, "Are you serious about that?"
"Of course." The little girl patted her flat chest, "My promise is as sincere as my faith."
"But it seems all your gods here are dead... Alright." Bai Wei shrugged, saying nonchalantly, "I’m from Rhein."
"...Rhein?" The little girl’s expression became more intriguing, her gaze wandering over Bai Wei, "I heard that your Rhein Priest... doesn’t like women, is that true?"
"Hmm... Before answering you, I’m more curious about where you learned these things from?" Bai Wei looked at the little girl with interest, "Didn’t you say you rarely encounter outsiders? And you hardly go out yourselves."
"Of course, I’ve never left here." The little girl said, "But don’t take me for someone who knows nothing. I know many things from outside, like the Rhein Priest, the notes of Holy Sound, and those in the Lyra who like to turn their bodies into metal lumps... Of course, I’m not sure if what I know is true or not."
"You actually know quite a lot." Bai Wei stroked his chin, "Looks like someone told you, let me guess... Wildfire sect member?"
"Hmm? How did you know that?"
"In this land, the only ones who can connect with the outside world are that bunch, right?" Bai Wei looked around with a smile, seemingly searching for something.
"Rest assured." The little girl seemed to see through Bai Wei’s thoughts, and said, "There are no such strange guys here."
"Not even at night?"
"Of course... In fact, they never spend the night in this town." The little girl shrugged, saying, "They just occasionally come here during the day to purchase some daily necessities and bring some outside news, like the other church information I just mentioned, all obtained from them."
"I see." Bai Wei nodded, "Turns out they’re quite good indeed."
"Take out the word ’good,’ I just think they’re odd." The little girl said, "Alright, alright, I’ve answered your question, now it’s your turn... Is it true your priests don’t like women? I heard they all prefer little boys."
Seeing the little girl’s eager look, Bai Wei smiled and said, "Actually, it has nothing to do with gender, the most important thing is appearance. For them, those small, fragrant, best indistinct gender ones are even better."
"...Tsk, your way of saying is too weird." The little girl said, "And why can you say such details? I think you’re lying to me."
Bai Wei shook his head: "I’m not lying to you."
"Evidence?" The little girl reached out her clean little hand to Bai Wei, "Without evidence, I can’t believe you, nor can I give you a discount on the room."
"So you were waiting for me here, already planning not to discount the room fee?" Bai Wei leisurely reached into his arms, "Too bad, I actually have evidence."
With that, he placed an armband in the little girl’s hand.
The little girl looked at the armband, puzzled, and asked, "What’s this?"
"The badge of Rhein Priest."
"How did you get this thing?"
"Because I am a Rhein Priest."
The little girl was stunned. Before she could react, she saw Bai Wei lean forward slightly, his nose twitching.
"To be honest, you smell quite good."
The little girl was dumbfounded. Once she realized, she immediately shrank into the corner and tossed the badge back to Bai Wei.
"Alright, alright, I believe you, half of the room fee will be waived, I’ll keep my word!" She said as she tossed a rusty key onto the table, "The room at the far end on the second floor, I won’t walk you there."
Bai Wei chucklingly took the key, gave the little girl a glance filled with intrigue, startling her into a pale face, and then went upstairs with Vic.
As the little girl watched the two disappear at the top of the stairs, she let out a sigh of relief, then, as if coming to a delayed realization, sniffed her own sleeve, muttering to herself, "...Do I really smell nice?"
