Chapter 28: This Is Just Ridiculous!
“You wanted to teach me a lesson?”
Rhodes grinned. His bright white teeth gleamed, sharp like the fangs of a predator baring its bite.
“I get it now, you’re a fake!”
The white student, Frank, suddenly wore a smug expression, like he had seen through everything.
How could a scrawny weakling bulk up this much in just a few days?
Even if he had taken steroids, it wouldn’t explain such a drastic change. Which could only mean one thing—his muscles had to be fake. Silicone. Cosmetic trickery. A mere paper tiger.
Smirking confidently, Frank strode forward with a sinister gleam in his eyes. If Rhodes wanted to act tough, fine! He’d expose him right here in front of everyone. Frank grabbed Rhodes by the collar—RIP!
With one forceful yank, Rhodes’ school uniform tore apart, buttons popping off and scattering.
“Whoa!”
“He looks so strong… I wanna touch it.”
“Emma was with this guy for years? How did she even survive that?”
“Her new boyfriend’s Buck, right? After spending years with this guy… how could Buck’s, uh, thing even compare?”
“Honestly, how did she let go of someone like that?”
Gasps rippled through the crowd. Shock. Awe. Admiration. Everyone stared, slack-jawed, at Rhodes. Especially the girls. Their eyes practically glowed green.
If there weren’t so many people around, the girls closest to him looked like they’d reach out and feel those impossibly perfect muscles.
“No way… that’s real?”
Frank’s eyes widened, disbelief painted across his face.
What the hell!? Weren’t the muscles supposed to be fake? Wasn’t it all just silicone? Why the hell did it turn out to be real?!
“You done playing around?”
Rhodes calmly grabbed Frank’s head with one hand and effortlessly lifted him up.
Their eyes locked. A faint red glow flickered in Rhodes’ irises. The pressure radiating off him made Frank’s mind go completely blank. It didn’t feel like he was looking at another human being anymore. It was like a terrifying werewolf, jaws wide, ready to bite his head clean off.
Drip.
A wet splatter hit the grass. Rhodes frowned. With the werewolf blood in his veins, his enhanced senses picked up the smell immediately.
He glanced down. Frank’s pants were soaked. He had literally pissed himself in fear.
Maybe that was too much.
Rhodes hadn’t expected this school bully—who spent his days tormenting others—to be this much of a coward.
“Go home and change your pants.”
With a flick of his arm, Rhodes tossed Frank onto the lawn.
Seeing all the eyes around him, Frank didn’t even dare say a single word. He scurried off like a dog with its tail between its legs.
Rhodes didn’t spare him another thought. It wasn’t because he was gracious or merciful. It was simply because they existed on different levels. With the power he now held, there was no reason to let a few ants ruin his day. They lived in two different worlds now.
If Rhodes really wanted to kill someone, who could stop him? So far, no one had.
As disappointed murmurs spread through the crowd, Rhodes buttoned up his shirt, slung his bag over his shoulder, and walked into the school building. The crowd slowly dispersed behind him.
As he made his way to class, Rhodes finally understood what it meant to be “the center of attention.”
No matter where he walked, no one could ignore him. That invisible pressure, like being constantly stared at, was honestly uncomfortable. But he figured he’d get used to it.
When he reached the classroom, he scanned the room briefly… then walked to the very last row where no one was sitting, seeking a little peace and quiet.
“Rhodes, is this seat taken? Mind if I sit here?” A sultry voice purred beside him.
Rhodes looked up. It was a girl with bright red hair tied in a ponytail, a light spray of freckles across her cheeks on top of some thick makeup.
Despite the excessive makeup, she was clearly beautiful underneath. She wore the school uniform, but clearly modified. The collar had been redone into a plunging V-neck, exposing a generous amount of cleavage. The hem was tied up to reveal her flat stomach and navel. Her school uniform looked more like a club outfit. Her skirt barely covered her thighs. Any sudden movement and you’d definitely catch a peek underneath.
“Go ahead.”
Rhodes shrugged. The seat wasn’t his, after all. What right did he have to stop anyone?
He thought that would be the end of it. But just as this girl—Vivian, apparently—plopped down beside him with zero hesitation…
“C-Can I sit here too…?” Another girl, cheeks flushed, stepped forward.
Rhodes nodded numbly, a bad feeling creeping in.
A few minutes later… Rhodes found himself surrounded on all sides—boxed in like a tic-tac-toe grid by several girls. His expression turned a bit helpless. Feeling the intense gazes around him, he had no doubt: If he even hinted at it, any one of these girls would happily go home with him. They’d do anything he asked. Anything.
Rhodes scratched his head.
When did I become this popular?
Girls were practically throwing themselves at him, for free!
This is just… ridiculous.
