Chapter 636: Declaring War
Chapter 636: Declaring War
Although it was called a peace treaty, the atmosphere did not look like it at all.
To begin with, Master Nasser and the delegation from the siren’s side, who seemed to be an elder, did not even meet face-to-face. The communication was held through a video call which was broadcasted nationwide, mainly to prevent the two of them from coming into blows.
Master Nasser still appeared high and mighty, not even bothering to at least put on a remorseful or apologetic look for the transgression that had occurred in his territory, which infuriated the siren elder so much he wished he could climb through the screen to pummel that arrogant mug.
"You finally decided to show up now?" The siren elder broke the tense silence with a sneer. "Let me tell you, Nasser—this time you have gone too far! Don’t think that mere compensation is enough to appease our wrath and grief! We demand that you kneel before our Royal Highness Prince Kaivia’s body which your people have humiliated. Better yet, accompany him down the road to the underworld and beg for his forgiveness with your worthless life! Oh, our sweet little prince..." the elder wept inconsolably, his tears solidifying into a broken string of pearls. "What an unjust death you’ve suffered ah!"
In the face of the elder’s meltdown, Master Nasser did not even twitch an eyelid. "Are you done?" he asked coldly.
"You—" the elder was almost choked to death with rage, but Nasser interrupted him,
"I am willing to compensate for the unexpected loss suffered by the sirens—"
"Did you not hear what I said just now?!" The elder burst out in fury, feeling incredulous for the audacity and shamelessness of the other person.
"—by fixing the one major problem that has been plaguing you for decades: fertility." He gave a wintry smile when the siren elder turned dumbfounded. "The reason why you’re freaking out now is because only the blood of the royal family can be used to summon the sea witch, right?"
He gestured to the people outside the screen, and soon, a soldier showed up, pulling at someone clad in a black flowy cloak who looked just like... like...
"T-The sea witch!" The elder jumped in shock, his expression horrified. "How... how did you..."
There was no mistaking that familiar figure. Having lived quite a long lifespan, the elder could recognize the mysterious sea witch at a glance. He was omnipotent, possessed uncanny abilities, yet always disappearing as he wished. Oddly, he was not included in the siren ranks. He was akin to an anomaly birthed by the vast ocean itself, shrouded in an impenetrable layer of mystery, leading the sirens to revere him almost like a god.
And now their god... was in the humans’ grasp!
How–How could that be possible?!
"You used our little prince’s blood to lure him out?!" The elder gritted out, his feeble frame trembling in sheer outrage. That was the only possibility he could think of.
But Nasser gave him no definite answer, only maintaining his smile.
That triumphant smile... oh, how he wished he could wipe it off that repulsive human’s face! The elder was so angry that he nearly shed tears of blood. Yet the undeniable fact remained: the sea witch, the last lifeline of the siren race and the only one who could create the potions for them, was indeed under Nasser’s captive.
And judging from how limp and restless he was...
"What have you done to the sea witch?!" The elder cried out in a shrill voice.
"What have I done..." Master Nasser drawled on his words, knowing that he had gained the upper hand in this peace treaty. He leaned back into the chair in a relaxed posture, his leg crossed one atop the other. "That depends on your behavior, Elder. Stop the sirens and summon them back to the sea, or you will see the sea witch’s head hanging outside our gate by the next day."
"You... you...!"
"If you agree to my condition," Nasser continued with a firm tone. "Not only will you gain unlimited access to the potions from now on, we, humans... will also help you capture the garudas. By then, sirens will be free to walk on land and breed with my kind, thus elevating the fertility rate for decades or even centuries to come. How does it sound?"
Each word spoken from Nasser’s mouth was so shocking that it left the elder utterly speechless, his eyes wide in a mix of horror, confusion, and incredulity. "What are you talking about? The garudas..."
"I’m saying there is no longer any need for them to exist," a sneer formed on Nasser’s face as he recalled the quick ’betrayal’ from Master Grinu earlier in the day.
If you want to blame someone, then blame your own greed and callousness, Grinu. I am just returning the favor to you... a hundredfold.
"They’re but a useless race," he spat out coldly. "Master of the Sky? Ha! Sooner or later, we humans will conquer the sky and beyond with our cutting edge technology. And if you agree to cooperate with us, we won’t mind sharing the benefits with you. How about it? It’s a win-win situation for us both, don’t you agree?" Nasser smiled, his lips curving into a calculated smirk.

In the medical bay.
The atmosphere erupted into a massive uproar following the most recent developments in the peace treaty. No, it could no longer be considered a treaty—Master Nasser was openly declaring war against the garudas, and he had even roped in the sirens for help!
"Long live Master Nasser!"
"There’s no way the sirens will refuse such a tempting offer, right? We’ve won magnificently this time around!"
"Ha, take that! Who said that we humans are the weakest race? From now on, the sirens and garudas will be under our mercy!"
The soldiers cheered in genuine joy, celebrating their ultimate victory in this war. They did not think anything was wrong with Master Nasser’s ruthless statement. The garudas were a vicious bunch; they had trafficked countless humans and treated them as lowly slaves.
It was only right that they ceased to exist—once and for all!
"Long live Master Nasser!"
"Long live Master Nasser!"
Meanwhile, Noir’s head was throbbing in pain.
Should have killed Nasser the first chance I got, he thought expressionlessly.
Now it was too late for regret, and the Cycle had reached its climax—the three main territories would officially go into war, and most likely, the garudas would end up suffering the most damage of all!
No longer caring about the eyes on him, Noir pushed himself off the recharging pod and, ignoring the soldiers’ startled exclamations, snatched a robe on the side and draped it over himself. He strode out while putting on his earpiece to contact Gu Luoxin.
But the other side remained unresponsive until the line was cut off.
With each passing second, the creases between Noir’s brows grew deeper as wisps of white smoke billowed out of his lips with every exhale. After trying to reach out a few more times to no avail, Noir decisively changed the recipient, and this time the call connected in an instant,
"Moshi-moshi! Wassup, my good brother? Miss me already?"
Ignoring Jin Jiuchi’s cheerful greeting that made one want to punch him in the face, he delved straight to the point, his tone somber, "I think something’s happened to Xinxin."
