When the Wild Beast is Trapped in the Nightmare Cycle (BL) -
Chapter 477: Can’t Let Go
Chapter 477: Can’t Let Go
Chills arose from the depths of Gu Luoxin’s heart as an inexplicable dread washed over him.
Unbidden, images of Noir’s pale complexion and skeletal hands flashed through his mind, igniting a surge of protectiveness he had no idea existed in him. Before his brain could fully process the situation, his body – or to be more precise, the kingkong’s body – sprang into action with lighting speed!
Several things happened all at once.
With an ominous rumble, the last glass slipper statue in the town finally shattered, breaking the seal that had confined the Queen to the palace and causing a tidal wave of malevolent force to surge forth!
Outside, thunder boomed and thick clouds swirled in a menacing dance as the dark shadows formed a pillar that stretched toward the heavens, before twisting and coalescing into a gigantic raven with bloody-red eyes, its wings huge enough to span over the entire town.
Without having to maintain the seal, a huge torrent of magic surged back into Lumina’s body, enveloping her in a dazzling aura.
With an ear-piercing cry, the monstrous raven folded its massive wings and plummeted downward, and somehow Gu Luoxin instinctively knew that it was targeting Noir! In a blur of motions, the cyan kingkong leaped onto the highest tower of the palace and pounced on the flying raven, hammering it with its fists!
For Gu Luoxin, who was still perched atop of the kingkong’s head, it was like being caught in a clash of titans where the slightest misstep could crush him into meat pies at any moment!
"Xinxin!" Lumina cried out in horror, and in the next second, a powerful beam of light erupted from her outstretched hands, enveloping both Gu Luoxin and his kingkong. "Please... I hope this is enough to protect you!"
"ROAR—!" The kingkong let out an agitated cry when the raven’s sharp beak aimed at its eye. With lighting reflexes, it narrowly evaded the attack, yet as it turned out, the attack was nothing but a ruse as the raven sliced across the kingkong with the tip of its sharp wing!
Startled by the sudden pinch of pain, the kingkong unwittingly lost its grip, almost slipping down from the raven’s body. But before it could fall, it desperately reached out and grabbed the raven’s talon with unyielding determination, seemingly as if it wouldn’t let go even after death.
Gu Luoxin was clinging to the kingkong’s fur like his life depended on it, which was not far from the truth. The whipping wind lifted his lower body, and if were to slip, his tiny body would instantly be torn into shreds by the malevolent shadows. Even then, his eyes gleamed with a resolute light as he declared through gritted teeth,
"I. Won’t. Let. You. Touch. Him ciit!!!"
The raven, enraged by the kingkong’s tenacity, emitted a shrill cry, morphing the surroundings shadows into sharp knives that tore into the kingkong’s body.
But before they could make contact, Lumina’s protective shield erupted into a dazzling light around the kingkong’s body, eroding the shadows into dust!
"CAW—!" Furious, the black raven opened its beak wide, and a black ominous sphere formed within, small at first before getting larger and larger, with silvery streaks of lightning swirling within.
Gu Luoxin’s heart involuntarily skipped a beat as he witnessed the scene. Avoid it! His instinct screamed. He had to avoid this, or else he couldn’t guess what kind of damage both he and his kingkong would sustain!
His brain was urging him so, yet his body and heart refused to cooperate, maintaining a tight grip on the raven. He knew... he knew how foolish and reckless his actions seemed. After all, Noir wasn’t weak. Hell, he was far stronger than Gu Luoxin. The two of them couldn’t even be compared in the first place! The man would surely have some means to combat this nightmare creature!
And yet...
And yet, Gu Luoxin couldn’t bring himself to let go. He must not! Because something told him that a horrible thing would happen once this nightmare creature got its claws on Noir.
The black sphere expanded in a blink of an eye, surpassing the size of the kingkong’s head. In Gu Luoxin’s eyes, the sight was even more horrifying; it felt like he was staring into the dark abyss, like he was confronting death itself.
But in the last moment before the raven unleashed its attack—
Tsiing!
A familiar gleaming black spear sliced through the air, impaling the raven’s wing and diverting the trajectory of the black sphere. At the same time, a majestic howl resonated through the air, accompanied by Shen Nianzu’s voice shouting. "Xinxin, get out of the way!"
Reacting instinctively to his leader’s authoritative command, the cyan kingkong released its grip before Gu Luoxin could even process the sudden turn of events. And right away, a white shadow soared past him, colliding straight with the ominous black sphere!
A horrified scream was torn from Gu Luoxin’s throat. "Da Shen!!"
The kingkong crashed to the ground, flattening the poor brick house while protecting the tiny and fragile mouse in front of its chest. Heart leaping to his throat, Gu Luoxin did not even pause to recover his breathing as he craned his neck, gazing up at the sky. And there he saw Jin Jiuchi... absorbing the black sphere into his mouth!
Jin Jiuchi released a loud burp as he landed effortlessly on the ground, licking his lips. "Thank you for the meal woof~"
Immediately, Shen Nianzu’s furious holler cut through the air, "Did I or did I not tell you not to put anything into your mouth?!"
Gu Luoxin was utterly dumbfounded.
But his surprise did not end there. Surrounded by three top fifty players and a handful of others with unique skill cards, the black raven stood no chance at all. First, it was drowned by Shen Nianzu’s illusion skill card, then it had its wings torn apart by Jin Jiuchi’s sharp teeth. And when it collapsed to the ground, crying and squirming in agony, it continued to be roasted by Grapefruit’s fire phoenix.
It could be said that the raven’s luck was truly shitty to encounter this group of players.
The murky darkness in the sky dissipated, revealing a clear nightscape glittering with stars.
Witnessing this, Gu Luoxin could finally breathe a sigh of relief, his small body sprawled like a starfish on the kingkong’s chest as he strived to regulate his breathing. Thankfully... everything ended well! He had no idea what would have happened if he had been the one who bore the force of the black sphere earlier. He should have known that he had the most reliable teammates, and they would never let him fight alone!
"They’re so cool, aren’t they ciit?" He whispered to his kingkong, who let out a soft grunt in response.
Scrubbing away his tears on the kingkong’s fur, Gu Luoxin deactivated his skill card and made his way to where his teammates and the other players were gathered.
But then, his gaze was drawn to a figure standing a distance away from the others, observing the scene with nary an expression on his face. He had his hands in his pockets, rendering Gu Luoxin unable to examine their current state.
As though sensing the weight of the brown mouse’s gaze, Noir turned, and their eyes locked in midair.
Relieved to see the man unharmed, Gu Luoxin rushed ahead, saying, "Senior, thank you so much for your help earlier ciit! I wanna thank Lucius too! You both saved my life back there hahaha!"
He had deliberately adopted a cheerful tone to dispel the desolate aura around Noir, yet the man simply stared at him with an impassive look, causing his smile to falter.
"S–Senior...?" he called out, uncertainty creeping into his voice.
