Lucius blinked, taken aback by that compliment that had come out of nowhere. But before he could utter anything in response, Gu Luoxin let out a startled squeak when he felt a pair of rough paws seizing him from behind, yanking him away from the steel cover.

"Xinxin, what are you doing ciit?!" Caen’s voice rang out with urgency. "That black cat is dangerous, I can feel it. Don’t get too close or you will be hurt ciit!"

Seeing that he was about to be dragged away, Gu Luoxin’s pupils shrank and he struggled by reflex with all of his might. "N–No! Let go of me ciit!" He knew that Caen meant well by doing this, but right now Gu Luoxin couldn’t find it in himself to be grateful. It was not easy for him and Lucius to meet in this Cycle, what if they got separated from each other again?! No, he didn’t want it. He must not let it happen!

Caen, who was caught off guard by Gu Luoxin’s frantic struggles, couldn’t hold onto him properly, allowing the smaller mouse to slip away and squeeze into the small sieve on the steel cover.

"Xinxin!"

"Ciit—!" Squeezing his eyes shut, Gu Luoxin focused all of his strength to run forward, only to collide with a soft, warm yet solid wall of fluff that carried the refreshing scent of sunshine. Amidst the foul odor of the underground sewer, it felt like he had caught a whiff of Heaven.

Alas, Gu Luoxin didn’t even get the chance to savor it properly as the momentum of the collision sent his small body bouncing backwards.

Oh no, he was going to fall!

Gu Luoxin reflexively curled his body into a small ball and squeezed his eyes shut to brace himself for the impact. But before he could roll away and knock his silly head on the ground, another paw caught his body— this time larger, softer, and plumper, with all the sharp claws carefully tucked in.

"Careful meow~" Lucius’ voice sounded directly above him, causing him to snap his eyes open with a gasp. He was almost bedazzled when he came face-to-face with Lucius’ emerald eyes which were as large as his furry face, so close that he could clearly discern the otherworldly specks of gold within and see his own foolish face staring back at him.

Lucius’ tone was tinged with fond helplessness. "Luckily, I found you early meow, or who knows what kind of trouble you would have gotten into?" After saying that, he leaned in and licked Gu Luoxin’s cheek.

Gu Luoxin: "...!!!"

At the sensation of that barbed and wet tongue tracing a long stripe over his face – his dirty and dusty face! - Gu Luoxin let out a high-pitched squeal from his throat and recoiled backward in shock, only for his path to be blocked by Lucius’ soft and pink paw that was still supporting his back. He was so shocked that he couldn’t even formulate any response, only gaping at the dark and beautiful cat before him, his heart pounding in his throat.

"Stay still," Lucius commanded, bringing Gu Luoxin closer with his paw and proceeding to lick him all over. "You’re so dirty meow."

"W–Wait—" Gu Luoxin squawked in surprise. He knew very well that cats cleaned themselves with their tongues, and they could also help each other, but... but he’d never foreseen that he would one day be on the receiving end of such treatment !

As Lucius’ tongue traveled from his face down to his neck, heading to his belly, Gu Luoxin became so mortified that he reflexively plopped himself down to the ground, curling himself up into a ball of shame. If only he could blush, his entire body would be painted in deep and vivid crimson by now.

"C–Ciit— stop... stop it!" he pleaded with tears in his eyes.

Although his entire body was covered in fur, it was still his naked body Lucius was licking right now! Oh God, c–could things get any more mortifying than this?! Not to mention, Lucius was Senior’s divine prop, and he had heard Shen Nianzu mention how some of their feelings would be transmitted to each other. What if Lucius felt so disgusted with his new form and how filthy he was, and conveyed that to Noir himself?

Nooo, even the mere thought of it made Gu Luoxin want to bash his head to the nearest surface and die!

Unfortunately, the black cat seemed utterly oblivious to the violent turmoil in his heart. Now that Gu Luoxin had practically hidden himself like an ostrich, Lucius seamlessly switched to more accessible areas, namely the brown mouse’s ears and neck.

"Ciit—!" Gu Luoxin let out another high-pitched squeak when that barbed tongue licked the back of his round ear, eliciting an intense shiver down his entire body, though he couldn’t tell whether it was due to the ticklish sensation or the hint of sharp canine he could feel grazing against his fragile ear. He cried out even more desperately, shaking and quivering, "It’s enough, it’s enough ciit—! I will not be clean no matter how much you lick me!!"

Those words successfully stopped Lucius, who nodded in agreement. "Well, that’s true meow." With that, he finally deigned to release Gu Luoxin and began grooming his entire body with such leisure and ease as if he had not almost shattered Gu Luoxin’s three views.

Peeking out with one eye open, Gu Luoxin noticed that the black cat seemed to have lost all interest in cleaning him, and he could finally relax and uncurl himself. Alas, his relief was short-lived as he turned his head and caught sight of Caen, who was gawking at him from the other side of the steel cover.

Caen: "..."

Gu Luoxin: "..."

A tense silence lingered in the atmosphere as Gu Luoxin froze in place. That’s right, he had forgotten that he and Lucius were not alone in this place. Don’t tell him... Caen had witnessed everything...

Ahhhh, someone please get him out of here! How was he supposed to show his face around after this?!

Yet as it turned out, Gu Luoxin had been overthinking. Rather than the licking service Lucius had given him, the one-eyed mouse was more focused on the calm and docile black cat, and how Gu Luoxin appeared so relaxed in his presence. Despite the obvious answer glaring at him right in the face, he still gathered the courage to ask, his gaze shifting between Gu Luoxin and Lucius back and forth.

"You two... know each other ciit?"

Gu Luoxin tensed, recalling the ’amnesia’ excuse he had used early in the day. Shoot, how was he supposed to answer this now?!
