When the Wild Beast is Trapped in the Nightmare Cycle (BL) -
Chapter 441: One-Eyed Mouse
Chapter 441: One-Eyed Mouse
Gu Luoxin gawked at the other mouse in disbelief. Apparently, his reaction must have given it the answer it wanted, as a relieved smile spread across its face— a smile that looked oddly human. It looked left and right before beckoning at him, "Let’s move somewhere else to talk. It’s not safe here."
After being rescued by the one-eyed mouse, they took shelter behind a house where the area was completely devoid of people. However, now that the crowd had started to dissipate, the possibility that the two of them would be discovered and hunted down again grew higher.
Remembering the massive shoe that almost reduced him into meat pies, Gu Luoxin’s heart trembled in fright, and he hastily nodded in agreement.
With the one-eyed mouse’s lead, Gu Luoxin cautiously followed behind, taking mental note of the surroundings and mapping the routes in mind. Although the other mouse had saved his life, it didn’t mean he would let his guard down so easily. For starters, he didn’t know anything about it, while it seemed to know something about him – or to be more precise, about the former humans turned mice.
Gu Luoxin was no longer a naïve newbie who had just entered the Nightmare Cycle and would blindly entrust his life to the first person – or mouse – that showed him kindness. He had become a veteran player; moreover, this Cycle was supposed to be his advancement test, meaning that the stakes were higher than ever for him! All the more reason for him to heighten his vigilance!
Gu Luoxin swore that as soon as the other mouse exhibited even the slightest suspicious behavior, he would... he would immediately run away!
Who was he kidding? This one-eyed mouse looked like a seasoned fighter, there was no way in hell Gu Luoxin, who had just become a mouse for a day, could contend against it!
Crying inwardly for how much of a weakling he was, they continued to venture through a series of twists and turns. The beautiful houses eventually gave way to dilapidated structures, and the air grew heavy with the stench of garbage, rotten waste and decay.
Gu Luoxin grimaced as the foul odor assaulted his senses, his snout twitching in disgust. It never used to bother him this much before, but he reckoned that it must be due to the mouse’s heightened senses that made him more sensitive to smells.
Despite their attempts to remain as lowkey as possible, they would bump into people once in a while. Another jolt of fear coursed through him, but soon he was relieved to discover that they showed no alarm at the sight of two mice scurrying by. Instead, the passersby appeared utterly disinterested, paying them no mind.
To Gu Luoxin’s dismay, the one-eyed mouse brought him straight to the source of the foul odor – a waste disposal site. It was a dim and abandoned corner where people dumped their garbage, creating a tall mountain that dwarfed Gu Luoxin’s little mousy form.
Gu Luoxin watched with his jaws agape as the other mouse began to dig through the garbage with its paws, while telling him,
"What are you waiting for ciit? You must be hungry, right? This is the quickest and most convenient way if you want to fill your stomach. Don’t ever hope that people will toss you their leftovers ciit."
Gu Luoxin almost gagged when he watched the one-eyed mouse devouring dead insects and gnawing on a dirty apple core. Even though he hadn’t eaten anything since arriving at this Cycle, he didn’t feel hungry at all. Not even a bit. His stomach churned with nausea and he felt like he could puke out his guts at any second.
He couldn’t believe that he, Gu Luoxin, had finally been reduced so low to the extent of having to dig through garbage to find something to eat!
While he hadn’t lived a life of luxury, his uncle had always given him sufficient money to feed himself, never letting him go hungry. To make matters worse, ever since joining Shen Nianzu’s organization, he had been treated to so many exquisite and sumptuous cuisines. Asking him to scavenge through scraps on the ground... it was no different than asking him to die!
Wuwuwu, he wanted to leave this Cycle as quickly as possible! Life as a mouse was truly miserable!
He vowed to himself – if he ever survived this, he would buy lots of food for the stray mice in his college to eat... QAQ
Noticing his green and blue complexion, a flicker of pity and sympathy flashed in the other mouse’s eye, and it kindly offered an advice, "I’d suggest you get used to this, the sooner the better ciit. I’ve been in your position, and it took me longer than necessary to realize that struggles are futile."
Gu Luoxin was so busy trying to suppress his nausea that it took him a second too long to grasp the crux of the other mouse’s sentence. He instantly swiveled around to face it, "Hold on, you’ve been in my position before? Ciit, it means that... you’re also..."
"Heh, look at what we have here."
A sudden voice interrupted him, and from within the dark alley, a super large fierce-looking stray cat sauntered out, its eyes gleaming with a predatory intent. "It’s two thieving mice... meow..."
In an instant, both Gu Luoxin and the one-eyed mouse jumped in surprise, their eyes reflecting fear as they simultaneously thought— bad news!
Why is my luck so shitty?! Gu Luoxin lamented with tears flooding his heart. Now I’ve even met a cat – mice’s natural predator!
Never in his wildest dreams had Gu Luoxin imagined he would one day feel such intense fear just from looking at a cat. Life was truly full of wonderful surprises, he lamented woefully.
The one-eyed mouse sprung up and positioned itself protectively in front of Gu Luoxin, snarling at the cat, "What do you want, Jackie? This is a neutral area ciit!"
Great, Gu Luoxin thought despairingly, his heart full of ashes. Even a stray cat has such an awe-inspiring name. Don’t tell me that its surname is Chan[1].
"Neutral?" Jackie The Cat sneered. "Who says? From today on, this area belongs to me meow! You have eaten what’s mine, so you have to take responsibility for it!"
The one-eyed mouse was so enraged that it could breathe out fire. This had always been a neutral area where all small and helpless animals could feed, so how could it suddenly belong to this stinky cat?! But alas, in the face of this predator, it couldn’t even let out a squeak of protest. It tensed its body and secretly whispered to Gu Luoxin in a voice that only both of them could hear, "Listen to me ciit. When I give the signal, run away and don’t look back!"
Gu Luoxin’s eyes widened in shock. "Y–You... what are you planning to do ciit?!"
