Chapter 402: Special

As they entered the crowd, the duo effortlessly seized the limelight— how could they not?

One possessed extremely rare silver hair and pale purple eyes that looked like he had been plucked out of a fantasy movie, his beauty unparalleled. As if he alone was not attention-grabbing enough, he was also accompanied by a man clad in a suit that hugged his tall frame perfectly. The man exuded roguish handsomeness, radiating a wild and savage charm with a careless smirk playing on his lips. Not to be overlooked were those unique different colored eyes that could captivate anyone who crossed his gaze.

Unfortunately or not, both of them only had eyes for each other.

For the first time in his life, Jin Jiuchi didn’t feel irritated at being stared at and scrutinized like he was an animal in a cage. He had never thought that it could be possible for him, but here he was. And it was all because of this impossibly beautiful and exquisite jade doll before him. With Shen Nianzu, Jin Jiuchi had experienced so many firsts that he could no longer feel shocked; he simply wanted to savor the moment.

"Are you having fun?" Shen Nianzu asked as he slowly slid his palms up from Jin Jiuchi’s torso to his chest, before wrapping his arms around Jin Jiuchi’s neck. His gesture was nothing but bold and provocative, and Jin Jiuchi almost couldn’t suppress a grin— he knew that Nian’er liked him dressing like this. "You’ve been smiling the entire time."

"How can I not?" Jin Jiuchi retorted breezily. With the music playing, he splayed his hands over Shen Nianzu’s hips and pulled him close, bending down and nuzzling his nose into the crook of Shen Nianzu’s neck. He took a deep intoxicated inhale and added, "Nian’er, you smelled extra sweet today. You’re happy, and that makes me happy."

"Oh my..." Shen Nianzu chuckled softly.

Unlike the quick and upbeat song earlier, this time the DJ chose a pop romantic song. Couples began to pour into the dance floor, seemingly triggered by their appearance, but Jin Jiuchi couldn’t care less about them. Not when his whole attention was fixated on the jade doll before him, almost entranced.

"Nian’er is also smiling a lot today. Have I told you how pretty your smile is?" He grinned when Shen Nianzu’s heart skipped a beat. Leaning close, he whispered beside the jade doll’s ear. "It makes me want to hide Nian’er... somewhere other people can’t see."

Your eyes whispered, ’Have we met?’

Shen Nianzu released another soft chuckle, a delicate sound that never failed to make Jin Jiuchi’s little heart leap in joy. "Glad that we share the sentiments. I also want to hide you away, but hmm... at the same time I want to show you off to the whole world."

Jin Jiuchi arched a brow, a hint of mischief dancing in his eyes. "You want to show me off?"

And it was enchanting to meet you

Shen Nianzu peered up at him through his long lashes, and the overhead lights painted a cluster of shadows over his cheeks, making his purple eyes look especially bright and lustrous. "How could I resist," he whispered, his fingers stroking the back of Jin Jiuchi’s neck, sending delicious shivers down the latter’s spine, "when you look so handsome like this? I want to tell everyone that you’re mine, so they will know that you’re off-limits."

Jin Jiuchi sucked in a breath, his jaws grinding. Shen Nianzu had been telling him how needy and sticky he was tonight, but did he even realize whose fault it was? It was not often that Shen Nianzu spoke such words voluntarily. He would either blurt them out in a fit of anger, or when Jin Jiuchi teased him so much that he had no choice but to grit it out as if he was sacrificing a pound of flesh.

In short, his Nian’er was surprisingly thin-skinned, and Jin Jiuchi relished in teasing him until he was reduced into a blushing and flustered mess.

But tonight...

Something was distinctly different about Shen Nianzu tonight, he could tell. It was not just his sweet scent, or the make-up that accentuated his captivating eyes and full lips. It was with the way he smiled; his touch, his gaze, his voice— every single one of them managed to drive Jin Jiuchi on edge.

If previously Shen Nianzu was already as sweet and soft as marshmallows, this time he was akin to a pot of boiling honey, so sweet to the point of burning, almost choking Jin Jiuchi with the rich sweetness.

Swallowing thickly, Jin Jiuchi tightened his grip around the jade doll as they continued to sway with the music. "Nian’er," his chest rumbled deeply as he spoke. "Should I wear this suit everyday?"

He couldn’t think of another reason why Shen Nianzu was acting this way; it all started when he changed into these clothes. Well, if this could make Shen Nianzu the way he was tonight, Jin Jiuchi did not mind wearing this always.

"No," Shen Nianzu smiled, and there it was again— the hint of coyness and seduction that made Jin Jiuchi’s blood boil. "Tonight is... special."

This night is sparkling, don’t you let it go

I’m wonderstruck, blushing all the way home

I’ll spend forever wondering if you knew

"Oh?" Jin Jiuchi could feel his throat bobbing. His mouth felt so dry that it was almost painful. The lustrous sheen of perspiration on Shen Nianzu’s skin had never appeared as tempting to quench his burning thirst. "How?"

This time, Shen Nianzu let out a giggle, though the sound was quickly muffled into Jin Jiuchi’s shoulder. But that alone was enough to enrapture him, so much that his head started to feel dizzy. He was caught in a trap called Shen Nianzu— hook, line, and sinker.

"You will know," he teased with a hint of glee. "For now, let’s focus on our dance, shall we, lover boy?"

Shen Nianzu hummed along with the music, and Jin Jiuchi could feel the vibration from their points of contact, all the way to his bloodstreams and marrow. He couldn’t resist drawing Shen Nianzu even closer, delighting in the way the jade doll willingly went along and leaned his whole weight onto him. The enticing curves of Shen Nianzu’s body fit him perfectly, just like a lock and key made for each other.

Mine mine mine, his mind clamored, his chest feeling so tight as if it was on the verge of bursting. This person is mine and mine alone!

In that moment, it was as if the whole world had faded into oblivion, leaving only the two of them.

All of a sudden...

Tsiing... boom!

A beam of light shot upward into the night sky before erupting into a cascade of colors that illuminated the darkness. It repeated a few more times, transforming the nightscape into a canvas of myriad hues. At the same time, jubilant cheers echoed all around them.

"Woah...!" Jin Jiuchi’s eyes sparkled as he took in the spectacular sight. "So this is the fireworks show! Nian’er, look—" he instinctively turned to Shen Nianzu, eager to share the moment. However, he was caught completely off guard when Shen Nianzu went on his tippy toes and pressed his lips close to his ear, hands clutching onto his shoulders for support.

Even amidst the booming fireworks and deafening cheers, Jin Jiuchi heard each word loud and clear as if Shen Nianzu had directly whispered them into his mind,

"Ready to receive your gift, boyfriend?"
