When the Wild Beast is Trapped in the Nightmare Cycle (BL) -
Chapter 346: Hatching Egg
Chapter 346: Hatching Egg
Everyone stared at the scene with their jaws agape. They had no idea where to focus on – the strange blue-haired girl who had appeared out of nowhere, or the large egg that turned out to be their missing tour guide.
Momoko made a leap to grab the egg, but Gu Luoxin instinctively raised it above his head, keeping it out of her reach. "W–Who are you?! What do you want to do?!"
An angry flush colored Momoko’s cheeks as she continued jumping around Gu Luoxin, her hands outstretched toward the egg. "Give him back to me!" She demanded in a shrill voice. "He’s my little brother, so you’d better give the egg to me!"
"Don’t," Shen Nianzu piped in with a fake smile that did not reach his eyes. "Xinxin, keep the egg and don’t give it to her. If I remember correctly, aren’t you the reason why Toki ended up in this state? What will you do to him once he falls into your hands?"
"You—!" Momoko redirected her glare to him, laughing in anger. "I see that you’re still alive even after breaking the rule. Do you want me to summon the Chrono beast again, you midget?"
Shen Nianzu bristled. "Mi—"
"Shut up!" The twins interrupted his sentence and stood between him and the fake tour guide. The silver-haired Jin Jiuchi retorted in a righteous tone, "Nian’er might be a midget, but he is the world’s cutest midget! You can’t compare to him at all, ugly blue pig!"
Black-haired Jin Jiuchi sneered in mockery, "Heh, ugly blue pig."
"U–Ugly blue pig?!" Momoko sputtered in anger and disbelief.
"What? Am I mistaken?!"
As the three children bickered back and forth, Gu Luoxin locked eyes with Noir across the space, and a brilliant idea sparked in his mind. "Catch!" That was the only warning he offered before he tossed the massive egg in the young boy’s direction.
Momoko’s attention was instantly snatched away as she chased after the egg, her voice full of anxiety, "Give it back to me!!"
Alas, she arrived too late. Noir sprang into action, unfurled his wings and deftly caught the egg in midair. He raised a single eyebrow in response to Momoko’s vexation, and his eyes glinted with something akin to sadistic mirth as he tossed the egg back to Gu Luoxin.
"Oof—!" Gu Luoxin caught the egg securely in his arms, only to be startled when he saw Momoko rushing straight toward him while exuding thick murderous intent. With a muffled yelp, he flung the egg back to Noir. And when Momoko darted to his direction, Noir returned the egg to Gu Luoxin.
Momoko was so furious that tears started welling up in her eyes. A twinge of guilt stabbed into Gu Luoxin’s heart when he witnessed her distress. Had he been too cruel to bully this little girl? But... But Xiao Shen ordered him not to hand the egg over!
Yet before he could ask Shen Nianzu for further instructions, Momoko’s small figure trembled and blue electricity began to slither around her body like a serpent.
"How dare you..." she raised her head to fix a livid glare at Gu Luoxin, the wheels of time in her blue eyes spinning wildly. "If you don’t want to give Toki back to me, then you can just perish together with him!"
With an enraged roar, she unleashed a storm of electricity toward Gu Luoxin, who instinctively used his own body to protect the egg. The overbearing energy rolled and churned like a surreal wave. The ceiling shook, and the air seemed to sizzle along with the heat it emitted. There was no doubt that Gu Luoxin would be reduced into mere ashes if that storm were to engulf him.
"Xinxin!" Shen Nianzu and Noir moved at the same time, lunging at him.
Before any of them could reach him, however, the fierce tempest fizzled out into nothingness just a mere arm’s length away from the young man. It was as if the air had solidified around Gu Luoxin, forming an impenetrable barrier that safeguarded him. Not even a strand of hair on his head was harmed.
"What...?" Momoko froze, her eyes widening in shock and astonishment.
Amidst the suspended silence, there was an unmistakable sound of crack-crack-crack as the top of the egg crumbled apart, and inside, a small baby with black hair lay in slumber with his eyes peacefully closed, his long lashes quivering with each breath he took. He would have passed as a normal baby if not for the fact that he had hatched out of an egg and also... a pair of tiny blue horns on his head, peeking out between tuffs of fluffy hair.
Gu Luoxin’s breath caught in his throat as those eyelids slowly fluttered open, revealing a pair of bright blue eyes akin to polished sapphires. They were crystal-clear, reminiscent of ripples in a clear lake when sunlight pierced its surface. Large, round, and brimming with childlike curiosity, those eyes reflected nothing but him.
"Chirp."
"Ah ah ah!" Momoko let out an anxious shriek as she jumped around Gu Luoxin, attempting to catch the baby’s attention. "Toki, look at me. It’s me, Momoko! I am your big sister! You remember me, don’t you? I’m the one who has been taking care of you!"
To her dismay, Toki did not even spare her a glance. He tilted his head to study Gu Luoxin more closely, his mouth emitting another soft sound akin to a baby bird. "...Chirp?"
"Noooo!" Momoko crumbled into a puddle of sorrow and regret, sobbing and wailing out loud while pounding the floor with her fists. "I’ve been waiting for this day for a long, long time! Now it’s all ruined! Ruined!!!"
Gu Luoxin couldn’t take his gaze off the newly hatched baby, utterly mesmerized. He, who had always been a sucker for cute things, couldn’t resist such a temptation at all. When the baby tried to wiggle for more spaces, resulting in more pieces of egg shells to fall off, Gu Luoxin had to hold back a gasp because oh God, what was up with this creature? Why was he so adorable?!
On the other hand, the grieving Momoko made a last-ditch attempt to draw Toki’s attention to herself. "My little brother... look here. Look at me, this is your big sister ah!"
But even as she pleaded, the baby continued to pay her no mind. Momoko’s frustration boiled over, and she shot Gu Luoxin a glare brimming with bitterness and resentment. "How dare you steal Toki away from me..."
"Die—!"
With that one word, another electrical storm erupted around Momoko’s feet, this time more powerful than before. It was as if a dragon had come to life, its massive head looming over Gu Luoxin’s much smaller frame, teeth bared menacingly.
Gu Luoxin stood frozen in place, too frightened and in awe to comprehend the dazzling and horrifyingly beautiful creature before him. "Uh-oh..." that was the only word he managed to utter before the blue electric dragon descended upon him, spreading a violent surge of energy that shattered the walls of the labyrinth.
Yet as swift and sudden as the attack struck, it dissipated even quicker, like a fragile sandcastle dismantled by lapping waves, leaving nothing but utter devastation in its wake.
And the source of this astonishing turn of events came from none other than Toki, who had managed to wiggle at least both of his arms out. Unlike an ordinary baby, however, the fair and porcelain skin of his fingers tapered into solid cerulean scales and sharp black claws. It was with those tiny claws that he crushed the blue electric dragon conjured up by Momoko.
A deadly silence enveloped the space as everyone stared, their jaws hanging open at such a thrilling spectacle.
Yet, as though nothing unusual had occurred, the newborn baby let out a huge yawn, tears squeezing out of his round eyes and clinging to his delicate lashes. He snuggled closer into Gu Luoxin’s arms and offered a sweet smile, "Chirp!"
