Chapter 241: Smuggle The Black Cat
"Y–Y-You... what are you doing here?!"
Gu Luoxin stood rooted in shock. Never in his wildest dream had he imagined seeing Lucius again so soon, in his own college campus at that! It was literally the last place he’d expected to see the black cat in! Wait a moment, if Lucius was here, then...
Gu Luoxin’s entire being snapped to attention, his senses on high alert as he scanned the surroundings for a certain familiar figure. Alas, the area appeared desolate with only one or two occasional passersby. Not to mention that summer vacation was already in full swing, most students had chosen to return home, leaving behind only a handful of people who lacked a place to return to— himself included.
No matter how hard he squinted his eyes, he still could not spot the tall and curly-haired man anywhere. A trace of disappointment seeped into his heart, but he quickly shook his head to dispel it. What was he thinking? How was it possible for Noir to attend the same college as him? The chances of it happening was no more than 0.00001 percent!
Lucius let out another meow, snapping him out of his reverie. "Ah my bad, my bad!" He bent down to scoop the feline into his arms, and the creature wasted no time in making itself comfortable by curling up and kneading biscuits against his chest, a loud purr resonating in its throat.
Gu Luoxin giggled and buried his face into the black cat’s soft belly, inhaling the scent of dew and the briskness of a summer morning from it. "Haaa, this must be Heaven..." he murmured with a blissful look on his face. However, the image of the emerald-eyed man soon came to mind, and Gu Luoxin abruptly yanked himself away from the paradise of fluff. "No, this is not the time for me to indulge! Little Ancestor, are you here alone? What about the Great God? Won’t he be worried if you’re missing all of a sudden?"
However, Lucius merely nestled in his arms and shut its eyes, playing dead. It did not seem to have any intention to return to its owner at all.
Gu Luoxin had no idea whether to laugh or cry. What should he do? Lucius had sought him out first, so... it would be okay for him to keep the cat for the time being, right? Moreover, as a divine prop bound to Noir, the man could likely summon it back at will. Making up his mind, Gu Luoxin asked gingerly, "Then... would you like to come with me for now?"
Lucius immediately snapped its eyes open, pushed itself up and nuzzled its head against Gu Luoxin’s chin. "Meow!"
That settled it, then.
Gu Luoxin proceeded with his plan to smuggle the black feline into his dormitory. He had no idea if the building allowed animals or not, but upon seeing the naggy and disciplined keeper auntie who was sweeping the floor, he dared not take a risk. Hence, he unzipped his hoodie halfway and stuffed Lucius inside.
Somehow, Gu Luoxin could sense the shock radiating from the stunned black cat, who definitely had not seen this coming. Feeling a little guilty, Gu Luoxin placed a finger to his lips and gestured for it to stay silent, whispering, "I’m sorry, Little Ancestor. Please bear with it for a while, okay? Only five— no, three minutes, and I will let you out!" Fortunately, he was wearing an oversized hoodie right now, so even if his stomach was bulging a bit, it did not look as conspicuous as long as he moved fast.
After giving Lucius’ furry head a brief rub, Gu Luoxin pulled the zipper up to his neck. He took a deep breath, determination swirling in his eyes. Then, with a gait as natural as possible, he approached the building’s entrance and greeted the auntie with a cheerful smile, "Good morning, auntie!"
"Oh, Student Gu!" She raised her head and returned his smile. "You’re still here? I thought you had already gone back home!"
"No, no, I will be staying in the dormitory until classes start again. I’d have to trouble auntie to take care of me," Gu Luoxin responded with the most natural and obedient expression he could muster. However, just then, Lucius suddenly stirred inside his hoodie, presumably feeling a little hot and stifled. Oh no! Gu Luoxin’s heart almost jumped out of his throat in shock. Before the auntie’s gaze could zero in on his moving ’belly’, he instantly blurted out, "I... I remember I’m almost late to submit an assignment. Please excuse me, auntie!"
Without giving a chance for the other person to react, he zoomed into the building and bounded up the stairs while holding the black cat over his stomach to prevent it from accidentally slipping out, but in his haste, he almost tripped and tumbled down the stairs!
"Careful!" The auntie cried out in alarm, but not only did Gu Luoxin not slow down, he quickened his pace instead and vanished from view soon after. She couldn’t help but let out a helpless sigh. "It must be a very important assignment..."
Gu Luoxin practically flew all the way to the third floor, not even stopping to catch a breath. He retrieved his key, opened the door and slammed it shut again in the span of two seconds as if someone was out there after his life. Leaning against the door, he breathed heavily and pulled open his zipper, "Haa... haa... I–I’m sorry, you can come out now..."
Lucius promptly leaped out and landed gracefully on the floor, only to be taken aback by the array of vibrant cyan items that filled the entire room. Unfortunately, Gu Luoxin did not have a chance to catch the speechless look on its face because he abruptly burst out into a fit of laughter.
He doubled over and clutched his cramped stomach, tears prickling on the corner of his eyes. "Oh my God, that was just so... exciting! It’s the first time I have ever done something like that, look at how fast my heart is racing!" He fanned himself and belatedly realized that he was drenched in sweat all over from the brief sprint earlier.
"Ugh, I feel so sticky..." Without any warning, he unzipped his hoodie to the end, shrugged it off and used it to wipe the sweat around his neck.
Bathed in the morning sunlight, the youth’s bare body was exuding an aura of fresh vitality. He was not as muscular as Jin Jiuchi, nor was he as fair-skinned as Shen Nianzu. Nonetheless, his frame was lean, adorned with a fine layer of toned muscles. His waist, in particular, was so slender and delicate that it was dazzling to see.
Gu Luoxin tossed the sweaty hoodie toward the hamper on the corner of the room with a posture as if he was throwing a basketball, and he pumped his fist in the air with a triumphant ’yes!’ when it landed perfectly inside. Only then did he turn to Lucius, who had since turned into a frozen cat, and asked happily with his eyes curving into crescents,
"Do you want to wash your paws in the bathroom with me, Little Ancestor?"
