Chapter 213: Parasitic Skill Card

Jin Jiuchi’s pupils dilated sharply. In that moment, his scalp abruptly tingled and his primal instinct screamed at him, clamoring for him to get away from this place as soon as possible! He instinctively struggled to break free from Lily’s vice-like grip, but she was grabbing onto him as if her life depended on it, rendering him unable to escape from the scorching and sticky depths of the cocoon.

Jin Jiuchi seethed, his different colored eyes blazing in anger. "Let go!"

Alas, now that she had caught him, how could she let go?

"Ha... hahahaha!!" With a frenzied and sinister laugh, she activated her skill card.

Skill Card: Spider Lily’s Embrace

Skill Type: Parasite

Skill Level: Jack

Skill Description: Within her floral domain, the Lady of the Spider Lily casts her enchantment of dual arts. With serpentine grace, she draws strength from sanguine vitae and souls alike, her power surging with every tender embrace. Within the cascade of petals, shadows entwine, and the crimson threads of dusk’s tender grip pulse, birthing a symphony of potent vitality.

Outside the cocoon, Shen Nianzu, Gu Luoxin and Noir were still fighting against the queen’s furious and frantic tentacles. Despite its repeated attempts to slip away, Noir would always freeze it in place with his ring prop, enabling Shen Nianzu and Gu Luoxin to deal blow after blow on it. The other merfolk guards soon threw themselves into the fray, their spears thrusting deep into the cocoon’s body, drawing pained shrieks from within.

Across the water, Shen Nianzu locked gazes with Gu Luoxin, who looked visibly jittery and anxious. In an instant, he knew what the other was worrying about, for it was exactly his main concern right now.

It had been over ten minutes, but why were there no signs from Jin Jiuchi?

Even if the cocoon had grown much larger since last time, it did not make sense for such a big eater like Jin Jiuchi not to reach the center of the cocoon in that time. Furthermore, the fact that the queen’s cry resembled that of a little girl, who was most likely the same person Jin Jiuchi had encountered at the port, made him feel queasy and unsettled deep down. It was as if there was something very, very important he had overlooked...

Suddenly, Shen Nianzu felt a subtle movement in his pocket, which caused him to freeze for a split second. Was it only his imagination? No, it was not! Again, the mirror shard in his pocket moved, this time intense enough to be considered as vibration!

The mirror had never displayed such behavior before, so Shen Nianzu had always taken it as an ordinary mirror save for its ability to connect the two halves of Jin Jiuchi. Now that it suddenly acted out of norm... damn it, had something happened inside?!

Shen Nianzu’s expression abruptly changed, and without any heed of his surroundings, he pulled the mirror shard out of his pocket. He only had time to see a furious Jin Jiuchi shouting something at him, when all of a sudden, a brilliant crimson glow burst out from the depths of the cocoon.

In that fleeting moment, time seemed to halt as an eerie crimson glow enveloped Atlantis. The merfolk guards froze, unsure whether to proceed, while the ordinary merfolk scrambled as far away as possible to avoid any possible disaster. Gu Luoxin stood frozen in shock, but Noir seemed to have guessed something because his expression suddenly darkened.

Shen Nianzu could finally discern what Jin Jiuchi had been shouting at him all this while,

Get away, Nian’er! Don’t get close to the cocoon!

Alas, it was already too late.

As the crimson light erupted, an invisible force drained the energy from everyone within a ten-meter radius, causing their strength to wane rapidly. The guards’ weapons slipped out of their gaasp as they collapsed, panic evident on their faces. "W–What the hell is going on?!"

Shen Nianzu felt weakness creeping through his limbs. His eyes blurred and the tiny wound on his back seemed to throb in pain with each inhale he took. His head suddenly felt twice as heavy, and he gripped onto the mirror shard tighter until the sharp edges tore into his palm, using the pain to stay focused and fight against the dizziness that threatened to overwhelm him. With sheer determination, he lunged towards Gu Luoxin, dragging him away from the crimson radar, whereas Noir had already gone ahead of them!

The crimson light intensified, so did the size of the cocoon. It swelled in size until the cracked marble floor could no longer contain its expanding form and— BANG! It burst apart with a deafening sound, allowing the cocoon to break into the city!

Like a mad bull with no sense of direction, the cocoon began thrashing wildly, crashing into buildings and shattering them. The tall spires crumbled, the transparent domes shattered, and the seashell beds crushed, leaving nothing but chaos and destruction in its wake.

"AHHH—!"

"RUN! RUN AWAY FROM HERE!"

"Goddess of the Sea... Goddess, please save us!"

"Why... why is the Goddess not protecting us?!"

Everywhere the cocoon went, it would indiscriminately ensnare any nearby merfolk, sticking them to its body before dragging them inside as though it was desperate to patch up the damage caused by the crimson glow within. In a blink of an eye, the once serene and beautiful Atlantis turned into a scene of carnage and disaster, with ruined buildings and terrified merfolk fleeing for their lives.

Amidst the relentless waves of tsunami, the border guards struggled to maintain the protective barrier, and as soon as it began to waver, the queen seized the opportunity to shatter it in one powerful collision before escaping to the sea!

Shen Nianzu no longer cared that their identity would be exposed. Seeing that the queen had almost run away, he immediately summoned his ship and dragged Gu Luoxin onboard! The quality of the unique prop from the Nightmare App could not be underestimated. Even under the turbulent currents carried by the tsunami, the ship shot up like a rocket, carrying the two players to the surface!

Once out of the water, Gu Luoxin did not even dare to catch his breath. He sprang to his feet and peered anxiously into the water, his expression filled with horror as he stared at the chrysalis pulsating with crimson light. He couldn’t tell if he was trembling from fear or the chilling cold after swimming in the depths. "W–What the hell is that?! Da Shen... Da Shen is still inside! What should we do, Xiao Shen?!"

He waited for a command from Shen Nianzu, yet it never came. Instead, all he heard was the man’s heavy panting and suppressed coughs, "Cough cough—!!"

Feeling as if he had been plunged into an ice cellar, Gu Luoxin slowly turned his neck to see Shen Nianzu barely able to stand on his feet. He held himself up by leaning against the cabin wall, blue veins snaking beneath his extremely pale skin. His pupils had fully turned into slits, more silver scales adorned his face and body, and his mouth... when he opened his mouth, jagged and sharp teeth peeked out between the narrow gap of his lips!
