Chapter 205: It Found Us!

Along with the deepening of the night, the drizzle abruptly intensified into a downpour as though the sky was weeping along with the looming bloodbath.

From afar, it looked like a white dot at first, almost indiscernible, but then it rapidly grew larger just like an avalanche, rolling straight toward Atlantis! To their horror, it was not just the queen; an entire army of cursed creatures accompanied her, and their number was overwhelming!

A blaring alarm echoed throughout the entire city as soon as the patrolling guard spotted the ominous phenomenon. The merfolk had barely recovered from the previous attack, and now they faced a threat a thousand times larger!

"Put up the defense barrier!" The King bellowed as he issued one command after another to the guards. The specter on his hand shimmered with his rage. "How dare they... how dare they come and disturb our hard-earned peace! Do not let a single one of them into the city. Evacuate the citizens and protect them. Head guard—" he subconsciously called out to his right hand command, only to be stumped when he recalled that he had sent the merman to save Ariel.

The other guards also realized this fact, and a wave of panic spread across them. The head guard could firmly remain in his position for decades because he was powerful. Without him, their fighting force would be severely reduced!

It was unknown who started it, but all over the streets, similar cries rang out, "The curse of the Flying Dutchman! This is the curse of the Flying Dutchman!"

"We are all going to be cursed!"

"Why?! Haven’t they gotten their hands on Princess Ariel?! Why are they coming after us again?!"

Desperation filled their hearts, and some began to pray fervently, "Please help us, oh Goddess of the Sea! Please bestow your blessing upon us and guard us from the curse!"

The King gritted his teeth as he gazed at the massive white chrysalis that would soon be upon them. Just the mere sight of it, along with hundreds of the cursed creatures, was enough to make even the strongest soldier tremble. Sensing the low morale among the guards, the King took the initiative to lead the army and boost their spirits, "Do not fear them! We have the Goddess of the Sea by our side! She will not leave us in times of adversity!"

A light blue barrier rose from the ocean floor to encompass the entire city like a protective dome, with tens of guards channeling their energy to sustain it. The King hoped the barrier would endure at least for the first half of the night, long enough to give them a chance to fend off the cursed ones. However, his hopes turned to horror when the giant white chrysalis collided with the barrier, causing it to crack!

The impact was so powerful that a dozen merfolk guards spat out mouthfuls of blood. They cried out in desperation, "Your Majesty, we can’t hold on much longer!"

The King’s pupils shook in disbelief, and his breath sharply ceased on his throat. How... how could this be? In the past, they were powerful enough to exile all the cursed clan and drive them away from the city, so how could they lose so easily now?! Had the cursed ones grown stronger, or... had they become weaker?

Meanwhile, on the ship, four heads peered down in a row as they observed the intense battle below, whereas a certain mermaid had been knocked out by Noir because she kept struggling and trying to return to the sea, wanting to foolishly fight alongside her father.

"Tsk tsk," Jin Jiuchi couldn’t help but click his tongue in astonishment. "Look at it. Look at how fat and round it has become! It must have eaten its fill all the way here!"

"Oh no," Gu Luoxin bit his nails anxiously. "The City will not be able to last long. Their barrier is collapsing!"

"It’s still a cocoon," Noir commented.

"Yes," Shen Nianzu echoed Noir’s words with a somber look on his face. "Even now, it’s still in its cocoon form. I don’t know if this is a good thing or not; since the queen has not completed its metamorphosis yet, it’s still not at its strongest. However, this also means it will continue to absorb nutrition to get even stronger. Last time, we missed the chance to kill it. We should do it now before it devours the whole merfolk clan. I have a hunch that only then will its metamorphosis be completed."

They could have taken advantage of the chaos and attacked the queen while it was occupied with devouring the merfolk. But here came an important question— could they complete the side task if the whole clan was annihilated? They were required to solve the mystery of the Goddess of the Sea, but what could be the mystery? By any chance, would the Goddess be moved by the merfolk clan’s desperation and descend to help them?

As they conversed, the cocoon continued to hammer against the barrier, causing a large hole to open up. And in an instant, a horde of the cursed ones dived in and pounced on the border guards, and a fight for life and death ensued!

The cursed ones fought with their sharp teeth and nails, while the merfolk guards brandished their weapons and spears. At first glance, it seemed like the merfolk had an advantage, but that was not the case because once they were injured by the cursed ones, they would immediately transform within minutes!

Shen Nianzu inhaled sharply and straightened up, saying, "There’s no time to waste. We have to make use of this period to catch the queen off guard and— wait, what is it doing?"

After creating a hole in the barrier, the white cocoon suddenly stopped moving. Instead, tendrils of white sticky substance crawled out of its body akin to tentacles, and it shot up right to the sky and grabbed their ship!

"AH!!" Gu Luoxin screamed out loud in fright. "It found us! It found us!!"

The ship creaked dangerously under the tyrannical strength of the tentacles. It was apparent that the queen’s target was them, and it intended to crush the ship to dust! In that moment, only one word echoed in the four players mind— Fuck!

Shen Nianzu couldn’t allow the expensive ship to be destroyed in vain like this, so he made a split second decision, "Prepare yourself. I’m going to take the ship back!"

In the next second, the floating ship vanished without a trace and the white tentacles grabbed onto thin air. The four players plummeted towards the sea under the pull of gravity!
