Chapter 143: Want To Eat Me?

Jin Jiuchi’s breath was scorching against his neck. Being held so tightly in his arms, Shen Nianzu had a notion that he was cornered by a large beast, one capable of ruining and tearing him apart. His breathing quickened, his heart pounding on his throat, and his grip around Jin Jiuchi’s shoulders tightened until his knuckles turned white.

’Move,’ he told himself. ’Move and push him away! Why can’t I move?!’

Shen Nianzu was not weak. On the contrary, there might only be a handful of people in this country who could overpower him. However, under the light weight of Jin Jiuchi’s teeth on his neck, he felt strangely powerless as if all his strength had been sucked away, leaving his entire body soft and pliant for the man to manipulate as he pleased.

In response to Shen Nianzu’s flustered question, Jin Jiuchi merely let out a hum as he was unwilling to budge from his current position. He was surrounded by Shen Nianzu’s alluring scent, the silky cascade of his silver hair, and the rapid thump of his heartbeat. The more Jin Jiuchi indulged in it, the more he craved it. A voice within him urged him to give in, to satisfy his hunger and devour this person once and for all, merging them into one.

But how was it possible for Jin Jiuchi to hurt his Nian’er?

Suppressing the primal urge writhing within him caused Jin Jiuchi’s body to tense. Veins flared along his arms, and his breathing grew erratic. Lost and confused about how to handle the overwhelming desire, he could only resort to gnawing and licking the skin of Shen Nianzu’s neck, akin to a lost puppy seeking comfort.

"You—!" Shen Nianzu gasped. This time, he exerted more strength to push Jin Jiuchi away. "Stop it!"

However, Jin Jiuchi refused to let go. He rubbed his face on the crook of Shen Nianzu’s neck, again and again, as if he could quell the burning desire he was feeling by this act alone. "Nian’er, Nian’er..." he uttered the jade doll’s name again and again.

Oh, my God, I feel it in my air

Telephone wires above are sizzlin’ like a snare

Honey, I’m on fire. I feel it everywhere

Nothin’ scares me anymore

’Not good...’ Shen Nianzu let out a shaky exhale. Trying to use force would not work, and thus he could only try to talk some sense into Jin Jiuchi’s head. Who knew what wrong medicine he had eaten to become so sticky and affectionate all of a sudden? He couldn’t have gotten drunk from two cans of soda... could he?

"Y–You... let go first and talk!" His pale purple eyes flew wide as he felt Jin Jiuchi’s lips latching onto his neck again, his canines grazing the skin ever so slightly. Clenching his jaw tightly, he summoned every ounce of strength to push Jin Jiuchi away. "Jin Jiuchi!"

Jin Jiuchi let out a gasp as he was torn from the cocoon of Shen Nianzu’s sweet fragrance. He blinked, disoriented. "Nian’er...?"

They were so close that their breath mingled with each other. In such proximity, Shen Nianzu could see the genuine confusion in those glowing silver eyes. It looked like he really had no idea what he was doing. Shen Nianzu covered his throbbing neck with his palm and asked warily, "What’s gotten into you? Why would you..." he choked on his words. With no better way to explain Jin Jiuchi’s action, he could only settle with, "...do this?"

"I don’t know, I just..." Jin Jiuchi’s eyes shimmered in the mixture of agitation and bewilderment, and he looked so lost that Shen Nianzu could not even get angry at him. "What’s wrong, Nian’er? Have I hurt you?" His gaze shifted to Shen Nianzu’s covered neck, causing him to grow flustered. "I–I haven’t hurt you, right?!"

"No, you... you haven’t..." Shen Nianzu replied, still reeling from the shock. This was the first time he had ever been so intimate with someone else, yet the aforementioned person seemed utterly oblivious of the meaning behind his actions. "But w–why would you suddenly lick and bite me?" Recalling what the black-eyed Jin Jiuchi told him, he couldn’t help but narrow his eyes in suspicion. "Do you, by any chance, want to... eat me?"

"No?" It came out more like a question, as if Jin Jiuchi was unsure of it himself. "I just want to... get closer to you... even closer than this..." he mumbled with his lashes lowered. He looked so pitiful like this that Shen Nianzu had the urge to pat his head. But before he could do so, he heard Jin Jiuchi say,

"Besides, if I eat you, how can I sit and talk like this with you in the future?"

The corner of Shen Nianzu’s lips twitched. So eating a living and breathing person was not his main concern, but the fact that he would have no one else to talk to anymore, huh? He gestured at their close proximity and the arms coiled around him, and deadpanned, "Even like this, it’s still not enough?"

Jin Jiuchi shook his head honestly.

Shen Nianzu could only stare at him, speechless. ’So how can it be enough? Does it mean that he wants to... to... No! Don’t even think about it!’ Shen Nianzu scolded himself mentally for letting his mind wander to a dangerous territory. He had just opened his mouth to say something when Jin Jiuchi beat him to it,

"Am I not allowed to be closer to you, Nian’er?" He even pulled out his wet puppy eyes, his silver eyes so bright that stars could spill forth from them.

"..." Shen Nianzu opened his mouth, only to find himself at a loss for words. For a split second there, he was certain that Jin Jiuchi must be doing it on purpose. He must have known that Shen Nianzu could not resist him especially when he acted all vulnerable like this, and that’s why he dared to act this way!

Unconsciously, his gaze was drawn to Jin Jiuchi’s lips, his heart hammering in his ribcage.

"Nian’er?" Jin Jiuchi called out upon seeing the jade doll in daze.

Shen Nianzu snapped out of his trance and hurriedly looked away. He couldn’t believe that he had... entertained the idea of teaching Jin Jiuchi to kiss earlier! Heavens, what had gotten into him? It must have been the song. Yes, it must have been the damn song that elevated the mood! Remind him to turn it off as soon as he returned later!

"Well, it’s not like you can’t..." he began, and Jin Jiuchi’s eyes lit up in response.

Finally recalling what he was here for, Shen Nianzu decided to throw out a bait. "I will allow you to get closer to me... if you answer my questions. Honestly." He emphasized on the last word.

If Jin Jiuchi had a tail, it would have wagged excitedly by now. "Ask, ask!"

Ignoring the heat of Jin Jiuchi’s arms around him, Shen Nianzu cleared his throat and posed his first question, "What do you think about the ’twin star’ Miss Qian was talking about?"

He had put a lot of thought into the first question. In case Jin Jiuchi was unaware of his counterpart’s existence, Shen Nianzu did not want to reveal it and arouse the man’s suspicion. But if he already knew, then the question could also be used to gauge his level of awareness. No matter from which angle Shen Nianzu inspected it, starting from the twin star in the prophecy seemed like the best approach.

But then, he heard Jin Jiuchi make a curious noise before he said, "Twin star? Isn’t it about me and my brother?"

"Y–Your..." Shen Nianzu’s eyes went wide. So he truly knew about the black-eyed version of himself! Shen Nianzu’s mind raced and he finally pretended to be clueless, "You have a brother?"

Jin Jiuchi gave him an amused look, "Nian’er, haven’t you talked to him already?"

Shen Nianzu: "!!!"

H–How did he know about that?!
