When the Wild Beast is Trapped in the Nightmare Cycle (BL) -
Chapter 137: Someone Was Here
Chapter 137: Someone Was Here
Shen Nianzu glared at him.
The words ’what kind of nonsense are you talking about’ almost slipped out of his lips, only to be stuck in the end when he recalled that the Nightmare had appeared every single time in the Cycles Jin Jiuchi were in. First, it flicked Jin Jiuchi’s forehead and sent him flying and second, they directly fought with each other.
What next? Would they sit at the same table and play chess?
Other people saying it would sound too arrogant and pompous, but coming from Jin Jiuchi’s mouth, somehow... Shen Nianzu had a strange hunch that the man could really achieve it if he wanted.
"You..." he shook his head and sighed. "Forget it, you’re still too weak right now. Let’s talk again after you have entered the top 50."
"Hmph, how stingy!" Jin Jiuchi pouted sullenly. "Just wait! I will definitely enter the top 50 as soon as possible!"
Gu Luoxin: "..." Why did it sound so easy to enter the top 50 from these two’s mouths?
Sigh, forget it. He, this mortal, just could not join in on the conversation between two godly players.
Thanks to this little interruption, the heavy atmosphere in the air dissipated and Gu Luoxin could finally think again. "You’re right..." he raised his head, a determined light flashing across his eyes. "I can’t only think of how to get through the next Cycle. I must have an ambition! E–E–Even though I am no match for the Nightmare, I... I will make it my goal to defeat it!" He almost bit down on his tongue amid the sentences.
That one declaration sounded so conceited, yet as soon as he said it, Gu Luoxin felt a jolt of electric current coursing through his body, making his heart race. As if from this moment onwards, the trajectory of his life had shifted to an unknown direction — one that was full of thrill and surprises. Whether it would change for the better or worse, he could only find out once he embarked on it.
"Any questions?" Shen Nianzu asked him, to which Gu Luoxin shook his head like a rattle drum. But then he suddenly thought of something and hesitated again.
Shen Nianzu clearly perceived the shift in his emotions because he said, "It’s okay, just ask. We’d better clear your doubts right here and now. We don’t have much time. Two weeks is a very short time to study a mid-level Cycle."
Gu Luoxin cleared his throat, "It’s nothing much. I’m just curious..." realizing that it was the exact excuse he had given earlier, he stuck his tongue out sheepishly. "Mr. Shen, there are so many top organizations out there. You can just choose one and I’m sure they will definitely accept you. Why would you go through all the trouble to create a new one? Wait, is this some kind of competition between top players? I remember that the top three players in the leaderboard are not affiliated with any organizations either..."
Among the player ranks, there existed five distinct levels: Newbie, Intermediate, Veteran, Elite and Legendary. Their country only had three Legendary players thus far, and they sat firmly on the top three positions on the leaderboard. Unlike other players, their skill cards were displayed on the App for everyone to see.
Rank 1st, Hui – Harbinger of Doom
Rank 2nd, XXX – The Divine Oracle
Rank 3rd, Grandpa Is The Best – Sword Of Heaven
The position of these three players had not changed for years, nor were they involved in any organizations. The leader of the most popular and powerful organization, Imhotep, was the fourth rank player who was rumored to possess a healing type skill card.
If they could not defeat the Nightmare alone, then why would those Legendary players challenge the Cycle in solo? Why didn’t they create their own organization?
Facing Gu Luoxin’s sparkling eyes who looked at him as if he was the key to every answer, Shen Nianzu could only shake his head helplessly. "I don’t know either. I have never come across any Legendary players. Who knows what they’re thinking? As for the reason why I chose to establish my own organization..." he cleared his throat and explained in a lofty yet righteous look. "I have always received the best in my life, whether it’s food, clothing or books – anything I want. If I were to join an organization, then the only position I would accept is the leader. I’d rather control others than be controlled. Now, do you think those top organizations are willing to sacrifice their leaders to accept me?"
Gu Luoxin: "..." Of course not.
So this was the main reason why he wanted to form his own organization, huh?
"Bravo, Nian’er!" Jin Jiuchi clapped from the side to show his immense support for the jade doll. "Nian’er deserves nothing but the best! Our organization will be the best in the future too!"
"Hmph, that’s for sure." Shen Nianzu sipped his tea with an aloof look, though the corner of his lips were subtly curved upwards. "Do I still need you to tell me that?"
By now, Gu Luoxin had literally turned into water that would flow where his Boss threw him to. With a heart as dry as ashes, he clapped and cheered along, "That’s right, we will definitely become a top organization in the future!" Though inwardly, he was questioning everything he had heard,
’Is it okay for us to pin our hopes too high?! The best organization? We haven’t even registered our organization yet! Not to mention, other organizations have hundreds of players while we only have three!’
Alas, in front of the Local Tyrant Shen Nianzu, Gu Luoxin dared not voice his thoughts out loud and could only shed tears in his heart.
Noticing that it was approaching three pm, Shen Nianzu stood up and pulled the silly husky along, "Let’s go. I will bring you back to your college."
"W–We are going just like this?" Gu Luoxin scrambled to say. "How about the... bill?" His voice cracked when he said the last word, especially when he recalled the hefty amount of food that had entered his and Jin Jiuchi’s stomach. He almost dreaded the time to pay, but then he saw Shen Nianzu waved his hand offhandedly in a gesture of dismissal.
"My family is a major shareholder here. They will put the bill on my tab, so there’s no need to worry about it."
Gu Luoxin: "....Oh."
At that moment, Gu - poor - Luoxin resolutely decided that he was going to cling to his Boss’ thigh and become his loyal follower for life!
Shen Nianzu dropped the young man off in front of his college and proceeded to drive back to the mountain villa. When they arrived at the destination, the sun had nearly dipped in the horizon, painting the forest in a soft and warm golden glow.
Shen Nianzu spun the car key in his fingers as he strode toward the door. "We will start to study tonight, so prepare yourself and don’t even think of— Jin Jiuchi?" He paused when he sensed Jin Jiuchi halting on his tracks, his brows creased into deep lines as he sniffed the air. For some unknown reason, Shen Nianzu’s heart skipped a beat. "What’s wrong?"
"Nian’er..." Jin Jiuchi informed him with a frown. "Someone was here."
