Chapter 76: Reeece Hides the Star Sign
Chapter 76: Reeece Hides the Star Sign
Rhea thought about the possibility of Sasha being able to write down those words within the time she went to pick up her bag. She did not see Sasha return to the Principal’s office. She did not see her on her way to the locker room either.
This made her believe that Sasha must have written it. She thought about asking Maia and April if they had come to the locker room and saw Sasha leave.
But how is she going to ask them without raising any suspicion? She doesn’t want to make them worry.
She has decided to keep the letter a secret this time. If it was really Sasha playing a prank, she would like to see what she is up to.
Rhea thought about the best way to approach Maia and April with the matter without making them think something was wrong.
"I have an idea," Sapphire said. "You don’t have to ask her directly. I can tell you what to say when you meet them."
Rhea was happy Sapphire was willing to help. She has been helpful in the past few days too.
"Thank you, Sapphire," Rhea mumbled.
"You’re welcome," Sapphire answered.
Rhea placed the note in her shirt pocket, picked up her books, and left the locker room. Outside the locker room were Maia, and April waiting. Rhea was surprised to see them.
"She is out," April said.
"What took you so long?" Maia asked.
Rhea raised the books in her hand. "I came to pick some books. What are you both doing here? Did you not go to class?"
"We did go to class," Maia said. "But after waiting for a while and did not see you. We had to come out to look for you."
"Thank you, Maia. Thank you, April. Where is Poppy?" Rhea asked.
"Did you see her, April?" Maia asked.
April shook her head. "I did not. I think we left her in the locker room."
"Ask if she was alone," Sapphire said.
"Was she alone?" Rhea asked.
"I think she was," April answered.
"No she wasn’t," Maia answered. "She was with Sasha."
April shook her head. "I saw Sasha coming out just a few seconds after we did. So Poppy was definitely alone."
Rhea furrowed her brows. IfSasha left Poppy alone in the locker room, how was she able to write out the letter?
"Sasha did come out before Poppy. But she had no bag with her. I saw her going into the locker room while we were talking to Kristen and Louie. So I think she must have gone back to get her bag."
Rhea was becoming confused now. Sasha came out but went back in?
"Was Poppy still in the locker room then?" She asked.
Maia shrugged. "I think she was."
Rhea sighed. Who dropped the letter? Is it Poppy or Sasha? But Poppy has no reason to threaten her. They have been on good terms.
"Who do you think is behind this?" Sapphire asked.
No matter how Rhea thought about it, everything pointed at Sasha.
Sasha must have done it. She thought. She must have come out of the locker room to make Maia and April think she left and then go back in to carry her plans out.
Rhea was still confused though. Why would Sasha act so remorseful in front of Mr. Martins and the Principal and still go ahead to threaten her?
Rhea thought about asking Poppy if she left Sasha in the locker room or not but decided against it.
She shouldn’t drag the matter any longer.
Maia flicked her fingers across Rhea’s face and she blinked.
"Are you okay?" Maia asked.
"I am fine. Sorry, I got lost in thought."
"Are you sure you are okay?" April asked.
Rhea nodded. "I am. Where are Louie and Kristen? Did you tell them what happened?"
Maia chuckled slightly. "I almost did but April stopped me. She thinks you should tell them yourself."
"Can you keep it a secret? I don’t want Louie to be worried."
"I told you," April said.
"We will try our best to keep it a secret," Maia said.
"Let’s head to class. Louie and Kristen will be worried."
April and Maia nodded. They should.
They returned to their homeroom. Rhea stopped by the door and thanked Maia and April for helping her out. She needed to thank them before they got to their seats so Louie and Kristen would not suspect a thing.
"You are welcome," Maia said.
"You owe us a meal for this," April said and smiled. "I was joking about that."
"You can tell me what you want during the lunch break. I will get them for you."
April smiled. "You don’t have to. I am..."
"I want to," Rhea answered. "You’ve helped me out. I should treat you to lunch."
April nodded. "Then I won’t say no."
Rhea smiled. "Please don’t."
They returned to their various seats. Rhea sat down.
Louie was staring at her. "Where have you been?"
"The locker room," Rhea replied. "I went to drop my books but did not remember to take the ones for the next class. So I had to go back."
Louie nodded. Maia and April said a similar thing too.
"Rhea?" Someone called.
It was Reece. He was walking closer to them.
"Rhea," Louie whispered. "I forgot to tell you this. Reece has been looking for you."
Rhea furrowed her brows. Why?
"Did he say why?"
Louie shook his head. "He did not. But I think it’s important."
Reece got to their seats. "Hi, Rhea. Where have you been?"
"The locker room," Rhea asked. "Is there a problem? Louie told me you’ve been looking for me."
"Oh, yes," Reece answered. "I just remembered this morning that there is something I am supposed to do but I haven’t done. Can I see you outside for a few minutes?"
"It’s time for another class. Can you see her after the class?" Louie asked.
"It’s important that I see her now. We can talk on our way to class," Reece said.
Whatever Reece wants to say to Rhea must be important. Louie thought.
"Rhea, do you want to see him?" Louie asked.
Rhea nodded. It must be very important.
Louie sighed. "Fine." He stood up. "Then I will head to class before you. You meet me in class. And you..." He pointed at Reece. "Don’t make her late."
"I won’t," Reece answered.
Louie picked his books up and gestured to Maia, April, and Kristen that it was time to leave.
"What about Rhea?" Maia asked.
"She needs to speak to Reece," Louie answered.
Alan who had been staring at his phone looked up immediately.
Why is Reece not staying away from her? Did he not promise he will?
He stood up, picked up his bag, and moved closer to Reece. He did not say a word to him. He pulled him by his hand and dragged him out of the class. Rhea only stared at Reece being taken away but did nothing.
"What is going on between you two?" Alan asked. "Why are you not keeping your promise?"
Reece sighed. "Alan, I wish I could tell you why I can’t stay away from her but I can’t."
"Was that our agreement?" Alan asked.
"I know it’s not but..."
"But what?" Alan was furious.
Reece used to be very serious and determined about their reason for coming to the Seavora Community. But after his entanglement with Rhea, he has been carried away.
"Do you like her?" Alan asked.
Reece furrowed his brows. "Why do you always ask that?"
"Because of your attitude..."
"Alan, come on," Reece said. Alan stared at him and he sighed. "I know you are worried that our reason for coming to this community will be affected. It will not be, I promise. Getting close to her will not spoil our plan. There is..."
"I do not care if you like her or not. Or if there is any reason behind your entanglement with her. But I warn you. If you..."
Reece held Alan’s hand. "I promise you. And the explanation of how I was able to absorb some light from the bluestone and transfer it to you, I will tell you. But..."
"Reece?" Rhea called. "Are you..."
She saw Alan and kept quiet. He stared at her dangerously and her heart skipped a beat. Did she interrupt something? Why is he staring at her like that?
"Come on, Alan. Don’t scare her," Reece whispered.
"I am warning you," Alan whispered before walking away.
Rhea watched him leave. But how long will he keep covering his face? She wondered.
"Rhea?" Reece called but she gave no answer.
She was still staring at Alan who was now no longer in sight. Reece flicked his fingers across her face and she blinked.
"What are you staring at? Alan? Do you like him?"
Rhea shook her head quickly. "I do not. I am just wondering if he ever raises his hair up."
"Are you curious to know what he looks like?" Reece asked.
"Why do you want to see me?" Rhea asked instead.
Although she was curious to know the face under that blue and red hair, she couldn’t dare to say it.
"Are you trying to change the topic?" Reece asked.
"Are you going to tell me why you want to see me or do you want me to leave?"
"Don’t leave," Reece said.
"Then tell me."
"Remember I said we need to hide the star sign on your shoulder?"
Rhea nodded. She remembers.
"I have found a way. You just have to give me your hand."
"And it will work?"
Reece nodded. "It will. I am optimistic."
Rhea stretched her hand with the star sign to him and he placed his index and longest fingers on her wrist. He began to say some words.
Rhea stared at him. What is he saying?
He removed his fingers from her hand and smiled. "Done"
Rhea furrowed her brows. "So soon?"
Reece nodded. "So soon. Let’s head to class now. I don’t want Louie coming after me."
Rhea chuckled. Will he?
