WHEN THE SEA CALLS
Chapter 72: Sasha’s Apology

Chapter 72: Sasha’s Apology

Will wasn’t saying anything, and that made Rhea wonder if he did have something to say to her. Rhea waited for a while and when Will said nothing, she sighed.

"Will," she began. "You said you have something to say to me. Can you say it, please? I still have a few things to do in the classroom."

"I am so sorry I was quiet for a while," Will apologized. "I am trying to put my words together and in order."

Rhea began to wonder what Will wanted to say and why he needed to put his words in order.

He is not going to ask her out. Is he? The thought of that made her cringe. He doesn’t like her like April predicted. Does he?

"You don’t..."

"I heard what happened between Maya and you," Will said and Rhea breathed a sigh of relief.

Thank goodness, it has nothing to do with liking her.

"I know Sasha must have sent her. I want to apologize on behalf of Sasha and her friends. If I had not gotten you involved with me, maybe Sasha and her friends would not bully you."

Rhea sighed. What would Will’s reaction be when he finds out he wasn’t necessarily the reason Sasha and her friends were bullying her. Alan, Reece, Louie, and Kristen are all reasons too.

"Will, is this what you want to say to me?" Rhea asked. "You don’t have to be sorry. You did nothing wrong."

"I might not have been directly involved. But I am the cause," Will insisted. "So I should apologize."

Rhea knew it wasn’t going to be easy to stop Will from apologizing so she decided not to push the conversation further.

She smiled. "Apology accepted."

"Really?" Will was very happy.

Rhea nodded in agreement. She has no reason not to accept. He did nothing wrong.

"Thank you," Will said. "You don’t know what this meant to me," he mumbled.

Rhea heard Will clearly and she began to wonder what accepting his apology meant to him. She did not ask him though.

"I have spoken to Sasha and her friends," Will continued. "And they are willing to apologize."

Rhea was surprised. Sasha agrees to apologize? That sounds strange.

"Dahlia told me she tried to apologize to you but you insisted that she did nothing wrong. Sasha and Maya should be the ones apologizing and not her."

Rhea nodded. She did say that to Dahlia.

Though she had said that because Dahlia wasn’t the one who wronged her, she also did not think Dahlia’s apology was sincere.

Why did she not apologize when Sasha was there?

"Are you still angry with them?" Will asked and that made Rhea furrowed her brows.

What is Will talking about?

"Who?" She asked.

"Sasha and her friends," Will replied.

Why would she be angry with them? Rhea wondered.

"I am not angry with them. Why did you think so?"

"I asked when you would be available so they could apologize but you said nothing. So I thought you could still be angry with them."

Rhea shook her head. She doesn’t necessarily need their apologies. She doubts they are ever going to give a sincere one, especially Sasha.

"I am not angry with them. I do not need any special time to listen to their apologies either. What I want is their sincerity. Will they be able to give one?"

Will was taken aback by Rhea’s words. She is right after all.

He could remember when he first confronted Sasha. She kept insisting that she did nothing wrong even after Maya and Dahlia confessed that she made Maya do it.

"That wasn’t our plan. If you had stuck to the plan, Maya would not have gotten into trouble," he remembered Dahlia saying that and Sasha had insisted that it was Maya’s business that she got caught in the web she created.

Why can’t they stay away from her? Will had wondered so many times that day. They would only keep getting hurt and Sasha... She would keep going scot-free.

For what happened between Maya and Rhea, Maya got a two-week suspension and Sasha got nothing. In fact, no one except those close knew she was involved. Dahlia got a one-week suspension too because her name was mentioned but the mastermind behind everything got nothing.

Nothing at all.

Rhea flicked her finger across Will’s face and he blinked.

"Are you okay?"

He nodded. He is. He is just lost in a few thoughts.

"I am fine. Did you say something to me?"

"I asked a question but you said nothing," Rhea answered.

"I am so sorry I zoomed out. What was your question again?"

Rhea shook her head. She already knows the answer to her question. Even if Dahlia and Maya are sincere in their apologies, Sasha will not be.

"That will not be necessary. I got my answer to my question already."

Will sighed. He did remember what Rhea’s question was. He only wanted her to repeat it just once. Maybe that will keep their conversation going.

"Rhea?" Louie called waving at her.

He was standing at the entrance to their classroom.

"Louie," Rhea waved back. "Will, if there is nothing else to say to me, I have to go."

Will sighed. He does have a lot to say to Rhea but with Louie standing over there, he can’t.

"You can go," he mumbled and Rhea took a few steps forward. "Rhea," he called and she stopped. "You haven’t told me when..."

"Anytime during school hours is okay, but it has to be in a public place. I won’t meet them after school either."

Rhea had one thought in mind. Whatever the reason why Sasha and her friends are apologizing, she can’t let them hurt her.

Will nodded. "I will bring Sasha to apologize later. For Dahlia and Maya, maybe when they are back from their suspension."

Rhea furrowed her brows. They were suspended? She did not know that.

"I did not know they were suspended," she said.

"They were. A few days ago."

Rhea sighed. She did not notice that. Is that the reason they did not come to Louie’s birthday party? Sasha did not show up either.

"How many days?" She asked.

"Dahlia got a week and Maya... two weeks."

Rhea felt pity for Dahlia and Maya. Although they have always tried their best to bully her, it wasn’t totally their fault. They were just following instructions from their master who didn’t care about them.

"And Sasha?" Rhea asked though she knew what the possible answer would be.

"She got nothing," Will answered.

Rhea sighed. Maybe they deserve it. She thought. Maybe with this, they will stay away from Sasha. Is that even possible?

"Thank you for the information, Will. But I have to go now. Louie is still waiting for me."

Will nodded. He had seen Louie waving at Rhea and urging her to come.

"See you around," he mumbled and she waved at him.

She left him and went to meet Louie. "Finally you are here," Louie said.

"I am sorry. Will was just telling me about Dahlia and Maya’s suspension."

Louie furrowed his brows. That is surprising.

"They were suspended? It wasn’t mentioned. Was it?"

Rhea shook her head. It wasn’t. Someone must have blocked the information. Maybe it’s Sasha.

"Was it because of what happened between you and Maya?"

Rhea nodded. "Yes."

"What about Sasha?"

"She got nothing. I am not sure Maya or Dahlia mentioned her name."

Louie was kind of surprised. Why would Dahlia and Maya cover Sasha up when she was the cause of everything? Does she have something against them? Something that can make them do her bidding.

"Do you think she has..."

Rhea tapped Louie slightly. "She is coming," she whispered.

"Who?" Louie asked in confusion.

"Sasha," Rhea whispered. "Do you think she wants to apologize?"

Louie scoffed. That will be so strange. Sasha will never do that.

"She will never do that," Louie whispered.

Sasha walked past them, giving Rhea a scornful look.

Typical of Sasha. Rhea thought.

"I told you," Louie whispered.

Rhea nodded. Why did she think Sasha would change so easily.

"Let’s go in," Louie said.

Rhea and Louie took a few steps into the class but were stopped by Sasha.

"Rhea?" She called. "Can I talk to you alone?"

Louie shook his head. "She is not talking to you alone."

Sasha scoffed. "I wasn’t talking to you Mr. Best friend. I am talking to..."

"If you want to talk to Rhea, it has to be through me. If you do not want to do that. You can ask well..."

"Fine," Sasha answered. She had seen Will walking closer to them. "Can we at least leave the class?"

Rhea who had seen Will walking towards them knew what was going on immediately.

Sasha is trying to apologize because of Will. Did she not walk past them before, giving her a scornful look?

"Fine, let’s talk over there," Rhea said. "After all Will needs to see you apologize," she mumbled.

They walked close to the window in the hallway and Will joined them.

"I want to apologize for what happened," Sasha began. "I shouldn’t have asked Maya to push you down the stairs."

Rhea rolled her eyes. Is she genuinely sorry? Of course not.

"I know I should have apologized before now but I was ashamed of myself."

Louie scoffed slightly. He doesn’t sense any sincerity in Sasha’s apology. Is it even necessary?

"I hope you can forgive me," Sasha said.

"Apology accepted," Rhea answered.

She wasn’t really interested in Sasha’s apology. Though she did apologize to her, Rhea knew Sasha wasn’t in any way sincere about it. The look in her eyes said it all. Though she was apologizing, her face screamed revenge.

And revenge... she shall get.
