WHEN THE SEA CALLS
Chapter 46: Rhea is Acting Strange

Chapter 46: Rhea is Acting Strange

Myles, who had been holding Rhea in the air, finally released her, and her feet landed on the ground safely.

Rhea stood rooted to her spot, scared to take a step.

"Are you okay?" Myles asked walking closer to her.

"I... I am fine," Rhea stuttered.

"You are still in shock. Do you want to visit the school clinic?"

Rhea shook her head quickly. "No... No, thanks."

"Are you sure you do not..."

Louie and the rest showed up. They were very worried about Rhea and Celia.

"Rhea?"Louie called. "Are you okay? Where is Celia?"

Rhea did not say a word and that got the rest of them more worried that something might have happened to her.

"Myles, do you know what happened to her?" Louie asked.

"I will explain everything to you, but right now, we need to take her to the clinic. Louie, can you take her there? I will go get her sister."

"Celia is not the one who asked her to come to the rooftop?" April asked.

"She is not," Myles answered. "It was another student who asked Rhea to come. Did you not see a girl screaming?"

Louie furrowed his brows. "Maya?"

They had seen Maya screaming and calling the name wizard, and he had thought it was one of their usual pranks.

"Does that have anything to do with Rhea?" Louie asked.

"I think it does," Maia answered. "Let’s take her to the clinic. Lunch break will be over soon."

Louie moved closer to Rhea who had not said anything to them.

"Come with me."

Rhea took a step back from him.

She has been thinking. If Myles is a wizard, then Louie is too. That thought is scaring her.

"Are you okay?" Louie asked, trying to touch her, but she moved back quickly, almost losing her balance.

Kristen caught her. "Are you okay?"

Rhea did not move away from Kristen; Louie sighed.

Maybe she doesn’t want to get close to him.

"Kristen, I think she will be comfortable going with you," Louie said. "Maia, April, go with her, please. I will meet you at the clinic. I need to speak to my cousin."

April and Maia left with Kristen and Rhea. Louie moved closer to Myles. "What is going on?"

"I used my power on Rhea," Myles answered.

Louie frowned. "What the hell did you..."

"It was to save her. The other girl pushed her down the stairs and I held her in the air."

Louie sighed. He can understand why Rhea is staying away from him.

He brushed his hair backward. "You should go and call Celia, please. We will meet in the clinic."

They left the rooftop together heading to different places. In the hallway was Maya, who had not stopped screaming as she pointed at the rooftop.

Students had gathered around her now and they were beginning to worry that something might be wrong with her.

She saw Myles and began to run. "He is a wizard! He is a wizard!"

"You have to make her forget what she saw," Louie whispered. "Or we are both going to be in big trouble."

Myles nodded. "I will do that."

Without the notice of any student, Myles stretched his hand towards Maya and said some words.

Maya stopped running and talking and fell to the ground. Some students began to shout.

"Let’s leave this place," Myles said and they left

Some of the students rushed to call the teachers for help. Mr. Martins, their homeroom teacher, and Mr. Spooner, the Mathematics teacher, showed up, and Maya was taken to the clinic.

Mr. Martins went with them while Mr. Spooner tried to calm the rest of the students and sent them back to their classes.

The news about Maya had gotten to their classmates and Dahlia became worried. She was surprised to see that Sasha was calm.

"Sasha?" Dahlia called "Why are you not worried? Why are you not saying anything?"

"What do you want me to say?" Sasha asked.

"You sent Maya on..."

Sasha placed her finger over Dahlia’s mouth. " Shhh... Do you want the students to hear you?"

"But that is the truth."

"Yes, I am the one who sent her but I did not ask her to collapse. What does that have to do with me?"

Dahlia frowned. "I warned you not to do anything that would hurt Rhea, but you would not listen. Now look at what you have done."

Sasha stood up promptly. "How dare you accuse me of her misfortune? Was it my fault that she fainted? Rhea is not even hurt. How are you sure what happened to Maya has anything to do with what I sent her to do?"

A student walked in. "There is news about what happened," she said.

"What is the news?" One of the students asked.

"Maya tried to push Rhea down the stairs but she fell instead. I think she hit her head and began to see things. That must be the reason she kept screaming she saw a wizard."

"Did you hear that?" Dahlia said. "It’s all your fault, Sasha."

Sasha frowned. "If you dare to call my name in this, I won’t let you go."

"And where is Rhea?" Reece, who had been listening to the conversation, asked.

The student who had brought the news was shocked and scared. "She... She..."

"Just say the word," Reece said.

"Cli... Clinic," the girl mumbled.

"I am going to the clinic," Reece said to Alan who nodded.

He moved closer to Sasha. "If anything happens to her. Just like you won’t let Dahlia go. I won’t let you go either." He pointed at Dahlia. "And you too."

Reece left the class and walked down the empty hallway. He saw Louie and the rest returning to class.

"Where is Rhea?" He asked.

"In the clinic. She is having a rest," Louie answered.

Reece frowned. "And you dare to come back? Are you not supposed to be with her?"

"Her sister is with her," Maia answered.

Reece pointed at April and Maia. "Your job is to protect her. How come she got hurt?"

Maia and April were surprised.

How did Reece know they were supposed to protect her? April wondered.

Could he be a merman? Maia wondered.

"What are you talking about?" Maia asked.

"I am not here to exchange words with you. If anything happens to Rhea. I won’t let any one of you go. If you can’t protect her. Then you let her be."

Reece left them standing and went to the clinic. No one stopped him on the way. He walked into the clinic.

"I want to see Rhea," he said.

Leslie recognized him immediately, as the bearer of the seal.

"What is your name?" She asked.

"Reece Raymond," he answered.

"Rhea is over there," Leslie said. "But she is sleeping. Would you like to have a chat with me?"

Reece sat down. "What do you want to talk about?"

"Do you know who you are?"

Reece furrowed his brows. "What do you mean?"

Leslie smiled. "I think you do. The aura around you is strong. You must have been practicing."

"I do not know what you are talking about," Reece said.

"You are the bearer of the seal."

Reece blinked. How did she know that? She must be a mermaid

.

He had felt her aura but wasn’t sure of it.

"You are a mermaid, right?"

Leslie nodded. "Yes, I am."

"And Maia is your daughter?"

"Yes, she is."

"That makes her a mermaid too." Leslie nodded. "And her friend April too."

Leslie nodded. "Have you met with the last royal bloodline of the mermen yet?"

Reece shook his head. He can’t trust Leslie yet and tells her that Alan is the last royal bloodline. He doesn’t know if Leslie is a good person.

"I haven’t," he answered. "Have you found the new Aqua?"

Leslie shook her head. "I haven’t but I suspect someone."

"Who?" Reece asked

"I can’t tell you that. You have to find that out yourself."

Reece sighed. They do not trust each other yet.

He stood up. "Can I see her now?"

"Do you want to wake her from her sleep?"

"I am not doing that. I just want to be sure she is fine."

Leslie nodded, and he headed to Rhea’s bed. He opened the curtain and saw Rhea seated with her eyes closed.

She seemed to be emitting blue light from her body.

Reece blinked. That is the light from the bluestone!

Beside Rhea was seated Celia who had been affected by the light; she wasn’t moving.

Reece turned to call the attention of Leslie but stopped.

He can’t let anyone know that Rhea possesses the blue stone, or they will try to take it away from her, and Alan will not be able to use it.

He decided it was best to hide it from everyone. He closed his palms together and tried to absorb the light in the atmosphere while he woke Rhea up from her slumber.

If he gets to absorb a lot, he can transfer that to Alan and help him heal up part of his internal core that has been broken.

Reece knew he was going to get hurt if he tried to absorb it, but he needed to save not only Alan but Rhea, too.

Her body wasn’t strong enough to control the stone, and if the light took over the school, Alan would not be the only one affected; everyone would.

Reece began to absorb the light from the atmosphere. Leslie walked in. She had seen the light too.

"Aqua!" She mumbled.

"Help me absorb the light," Reece said quickly. "Or she will get hurt."

"She won’t," Leslie said. "She is the Aqua. She is trying to merge with the stone. Can you get Celia out of that place? I will help her merge quickly."

Reece furrowed his brows. Is that the reason he could not stop himself from getting close to Rhea? Is she the Aqua they had all been waiting for?
