Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Return to the Tang Family (Part 1)
"Hmm, okay, then please have Teacher Qi pay the medical bills."
Qi Cheng glared at Tang Yanqi, angrily took a bite of his candied hawthorn: "Tangtang, where’s your integrity? Your integrity?"
"It fell off because of someone."
"Hmm?"
"That person is eating candied hawthorn now."
"Oh my, Tang Yanqi, you stop right there, damn it, stop, where are you running off to."
Sheng Jianan stepped out from behind the tree, looking at the two people who had already run far away, a hint of a smile still lingering on the corner of his lips. Just how many sides does this woman have?
In front of Grandpa, she’s obedient and graceful; in front of me, she’s calm and indifferent; and before her classmates, she seems to be quite different again.
The phone in his pocket rang, interrupting Sheng Jianan’s thoughts. Only then did he return to reality, realizing that his attention had somehow drifted to Tang Yanqi again.
Sheng Jianan furrowed his eyebrows, answered the phone, glanced at a taxi passing by on the roadside, waved it down, opened the door, and got in.
"Brother Nan, when are you coming over? Everyone’s here already, just waiting for you, the young master."
Tonight, one of Sheng Jianan’s childhood friends was returning from his honeymoon, and Zhou Chengze had arranged a welcome party for them.
Arriving at the agreed place, Sheng Jianan effortlessly made his way to their private suite. As soon as he pushed open the door, he heard Zhou Chengze yelling loudly: "Damn it, I say, Mr. Xu, flaunting your love like this isn’t fair. Just because you’re married, you think you’re special? Winning the beauty makes you special?"
The scene Sheng Jianan walked into was Xu Muyun’s newlywed wife Lin Duo putting a peeled shrimp into his bowl.
Unlike Zhou Chengze and Sheng Jianan, Xu Muyun wasn’t a second-generation rich but a bona fide third-generation red. The Xu Family might not be extremely wealthy, but their background was rather substantial. Xu Muyun’s father and brother were both in the military, but he took a unique path with an interest in finance and became the manager of a notable bank branch in B City at a young age.
His wife, Lin Duo, was a college classmate; the two saying goodbye to college life with marriage and graduation certificates in hand became quite the romantic story.
Lin Duo was pretty and had an extremely gentle and generous demeanor, a classic example of a virtuous wife and loving mother.
Xu Muyun’s biggest trait was his meticulousness, or even harshness, and he was very methodical.
"Brother Nan, you finally arrived. I’ve been poisoned by Muyun for so long, I need rescuing. You wouldn’t believe it, his way of showing love is simply insane."
Sheng Jianan smiled slightly, poured himself a drink, and clinked glasses with Xu Muyun: "Congratulations on the wedding, how was the honeymoon?"
Xu Muyun glanced at his watch: "Jianan, you’re thirty-seven minutes and forty-two seconds late, how are you going to make amends?"
Sheng Jianan raised an eyebrow: "Round it up, I’ll drink four as penalty."
The three of them had been childhood friends, and naturally, their relationship needed no elaboration. Everyone was quite aware of Sheng Jianan’s drinking capacity, so no one stopped him. But after he finished four glasses, the bottle on the table was instantly empty. Zhou Chengze stood up: "I’ll get the wine, still the same, Brother Nan?"
"Yeah."
Sheng Jianan nodded lightly. Xu Muyun turned to his wife and said: "Duoduo, can you go with Ah Ze?"
Lin Duo nodded gently. After the two left the suite, Sheng Jianan raised his eyebrows: "What’s up? Something you want to say?"
"I heard you actually got married?"
The smile at the corner of Sheng Jianan’s lips froze for a moment but quickly returned to normal: "It was a command from the old man, couldn’t defy it."
Xu Muyun furrowed his eyebrows: "I thought Miss Tang would never agree after knowing about that, but I didn’t expect..."
