Chapter 271: Real Background

As they walked out of the café, Lily glanced at Samuel with a hint of concern in her eyes. She hesitated for a moment before speaking.

"By the way," she said, turning to him. "Are you sure you haven’t been followed? You know you’re supposed to be acting as James right now."

Samuel’s steps slowed slightly. He met her gaze, his expression calm but firm. "Yeah, I’m sure. After I confessed to Zinnia at the hospital last time, they stopped tracking me."

Lily raised an eyebrow. "Why would they stop? Aren’t they worried you might slip up?"

"They’re confident I’m doing the missions they’ve given me," Samuel replied, his tone steady. "They know what’s at stake. My family’s lives are still on the line if I fail. I mean No. 13 family."

Timmy, walking beside them, frowned. "And they haven’t checked on you at all? That seems... careless on their part."

Samuel shook his head. "Not really. They think they’ve already won. The Lucas Realty Group is shut down for now, and my wedding with Zinnia has been postponed. From their perspective, everything is going according to their plan."

Lily tilted her head. "What about when you came home after following Zinnia? Didn’t that raise any suspicions?"

"No," Samuel said, his voice hardening slightly. "They assumed I was still doing my ’mission’—making Zinnia fall for me while destroying her relationship with Samuel." He gave a dry, humorless laugh. "Which is, ironically, me."

Lily crossed her arms, nodding slowly. "So they really think you’re on their side."

"They’re overconfident," Samuel said simply. "They think they have complete control over No. 13 because of the leverage they hold. They didn’t bother assigning anyone to tail me when I came back."

Timmy glanced between them. "That works to our advantage. If they’re not watching you, we can move without them suspecting anything."

"Exactly," Samuel said. He looked at Lily. "But we need to be careful. If they catch wind of this, it’ll all fall apart."

Lily gave him a faint smile. "That’s good, then. At least we’re not dealing with any unnecessary surveillance." She paused, her tone turning serious. "We need to make a move now. The longer we wait, the more time Frank has to tighten his grip."

Samuel nodded, his eyes sharp with determination. "Then let’s do it. No more delays."

Timmy adjusted his jacket, his expression resolute. "I’ll start coordinating the backup. We’re not going in blind."

Lily glanced at Samuel one last time. "Are you ready for this?"

Samuel’s voice was firm. "I don’t have a choice. This ends now."

Without another word, the three of them headed toward the next phase of their plan.

The sunlight filtered through the curtains as Zinnia stirred awake, the faint hum of the city outside breaking the silence of her room. She rubbed her eyes and stretched, glancing at the clock on her bedside table. It was already 8:30 a.m.

She got up, her mind immediately going to Samuel. "Maybe he’s already in the kitchen," she murmured to herself, slipping into her slippers.

As she made her way downstairs, the faint hope of finding him there kept her pace brisk. But as she entered the kitchen, her heart sank. The room was empty.

"Of course, he’s not here," she muttered, biting her lip.

Determined to make the most of the morning, she decided to prepare breakfast. The soft sizzle of eggs and the comforting aroma of brewed coffee filled the kitchen as she set the table for two.

"Maybe he’s still asleep," she thought, pouring a glass of orange juice. She glanced toward the hallway leading to Samuel’s room.

After waiting for some time, with no sign of him, she decided to check. Wiping her hands on a towel, she walked to his door and knocked gently.

"Sam?" she called softly. "Are you awake? I prepared breakfast for us."

There was no response. She frowned, knocking again, this time a little louder.

"Sam? Are you there?"

Still nothing. Her heart skipped a beat, a sense of unease creeping in. Taking a deep breath, she slowly opened the door.

The room was empty. The bed was neatly made, and there was no sign of him.

"Where is he?" she whispered, her brows furrowing.

She stood there for a moment, staring at the empty space, before stepping back and closing the door. Something didn’t feel right.

On the Other Side of the City

The airport buzzed faintly in the distance as Lily, Timmy, and Samuel approached her private jet. The sleek white aircraft stood waiting on the tarmac, its engines humming softly.

Timmy glanced at it, then at Lily, and sighed. His thoughts were a chaotic mess.

Even now, days after learning the truth, he was still in shock. Lily Oceanic Industries—the name carried weight, influence, and power, known globally as a giant in the business world. And Lily, the woman he had grown close to, was actually the heiress.

He felt like a small speck standing next to her.

"Timmy," Lily said, nudging him lightly on the shoulder, snapping him out of his thoughts.

"Huh?" he blurted, blinking at her.

"Are you okay?" she asked, her expression calm but tinged with concern.

Timmy hesitated before nodding quickly. "Y-Yeah. I’m fine."

Lily raised an eyebrow. "You don’t look fine. You’ve been out of it since we got here."

He rubbed the back of his neck, avoiding her gaze. "I guess... I’m just still trying to wrap my head around everything. You being you, I mean."

Lily sighed, folding her arms. "Timmy, I’m still the same person. The fact that my family owns a company doesn’t change who I am. You don’t have to act weird around me."

Samuel, who had been silent until now, smirked faintly. "She’s right, Timmy." He leaned closer to him and whispered, "She’s still Lily—the same Lily who has a crush on you."

"Hey!" Lily shot him a glare, but there was a playful glint in her eyes. "What was that? Why are you whispering?"

Timmy let out a nervous laugh, feeling a little lighter. "I guess you’re right. It’s just... hard not to feel like we’re living in completely different worlds."

"Timmy," Lily said, her tone softening. "We’re in this together. No matter what our backgrounds are, we all want the same thing—to stop Frank and save everyone involved. That’s what matters."

He nodded, her words grounding him.

As they reached the steps of the jet, Lily glanced at both men. "And don’t worry about the mansion. I’ve already asked my men to surround it. They’re keeping an eye on everything."

Samuel gave her a curt nod. "Good. We can’t afford any surprises."

"We won’t have any," Lily assured. "Everything is in place. We’ll make sure this is a success."

Timmy took a deep breath, following them into the jet. The sense of awe hadn’t left him, but for now, he pushed it aside. They had a mission to complete.
