Chapter 125: Encounter at the beach
Before Timmy could ask anything, Samuel called out to someone in the hallway. Moments later, a tall, muscular man appeared in the doorway, dressed in a black security uniform. His presence filled the space with an air of authority, and Timmy’s nerves tightened at the sight.
Samuel spoke with a calm but firm voice. "This boy," he said, gesturing toward Timmy, "will be staying here for a while. Your job is to take care of him. Make sure no one enters any of my personal floors in this building except for him. Understood?"
The security guard nodded, his face a mask of professionalism. "Understood, sir."
Samuel then turned his attention back to Timmy, his eyes hardening just a bit. "When we’re outside this building, pretend you don’t know me," Samuel instructed, his voice lowering to a warning tone. "If you don’t want to be dragged into the mess surrounding me or end up hurt by people associated with me, you’ll keep a low profile. Stay here. Don’t go back to your dormitory. Attend your classes, then come back here. This is the only place you’ll be safe."
Timmy’s brows furrowed with confusion and disbelief. He hadn’t expected this act of kindness. He felt a mix of gratitude and curiosity, the question bubbling up before he could stop himself. "Thank you... but why are you being so good to me?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Samuel’s gaze lingered on him for a moment, a flicker of something unreadable crossing his features. He seemed to consider the question, but his response was short and simple. "I don’t know," he said, his voice distant. "But this place would be empty anyway. Might as well let someone use it."
Timmy swallowed, his heart pounding. He didn’t know what to say. This person before him, who always seemed so unapproachable and cold, had just done something that made him feel seen, like someone actually cared if he was safe.
Samuel’s face remained neutral, as if dismissing the whole interaction, and he turned on his heel to leave. Timmy watched him go, feeling an unexpected sense of relief and admiration welling up inside.
Samuel had become his savior that day, a figure who made sure he had a place to feel safe. And that act of kindness, even if given so nonchalantly, stayed with Timmy ever since.
Timmy couldn’t help but smile as the memory of that day washed over him. It was a day that changed everything. Samuel had been more than just a boss ever since. Because of Samuel, Timmy had managed to finish his studies and even step into the business world. Working alongside Samuel had become a purpose. And to Timmy, Samuel wasn’t just a boss. He was his only friend, his only family.
Timmy shook his head lightly, trying to clear his mind of the past. With a contented sigh, he stepped outside, feeling the warm sun on his skin. The day was perfect, and he was ready to spend an entire week at the beach resort he’d been dreaming of.
It wasn’t a long ride to the resort entrance. As soon as he arrived, he felt his heart lift. The scent of the ocean greeted him, salty and refreshing, mingling with the warm breeze. The sound of the waves crashing against the shore was a soothing backdrop, and Timmy couldn’t resist taking it all in.
He wandered along the white sandy path, taking his time. The resort was stunning, with tall palm trees swaying gently and the clear blue sky stretching above. Seagulls called to each other, flying in lazy circles, and he admired the view that felt almost unreal. The turquoise water sparkled under the sun, and Timmy found himself smiling.
After settling his things in his room, he stepped out again, unable to stay inside. The call of the ocean was too tempting. He walked slowly, admiring every detail of the place. The sun warmed his skin, and the breeze played with his hair. Everything about this resort made him feel alive.
He made his way toward the docks, where groups of people were gathering for island hopping tours. The laughter and excited chatter around him filled the air, and he felt his spirits lift even more. He decided to join one of the groups, eager for the adventure.
Before they could board, he noticed a few employees moving around the boats, checking each one meticulously. They looked serious, almost as if someone important was nearby. Timmy’s curiosity got the best of him. He scanned the area, taking note of how thorough the inspections were.
The employees moved efficiently, double-checking everything. It struck Timmy how this resort wasn’t just another tourist spot. It belonged to Lily Oceanic Industries, the most powerful company in the country. His mind raced. Was one of their high-ranking officers here? Doing these inspections personally?
It made sense. The company was known for its quality. Even in this small branch of their business, they paid attention to every detail. Timmy felt a surge of respect. It was something to learn from, something he could take back to Samuel to help their own business grow.
He waited for his group’s turn to board the boat. The minutes dragged as he kept observing. A woman seemed to be leading the inspection, moving with a grace that commanded attention. When she finally turned in his direction, Timmy froze.
His breath caught in his throat. She was stunning. Dark, long hair tied in a simple bun, glasses framing her striking features. Her posture was confident, her expression serious yet captivating. She had a smart, almost intimidating look, but it only amplified her beauty. Timmy felt as though he was dreaming. How could someone like her exist in the real world?
He was so lost in his thoughts that he barely registered her voice. "Sorry for the inconvenience," she said, her tone formal but polite. "We just want to make sure you have a comfortable and safe ride."
Her voice was pleasant, even with that hint of strictness. Timmy wished she would talk more. There was something about it that made him feel calm, yet alert. He shook himself out of his daze, realizing how silly he probably looked.
