Chapter 98: Chapter 84 Pink Apatite
"If the Spinel Raw Stones weren’t taken away, where would they be?" With the building surrounded by magical creatures so tightly that escape seemed impossible, Li Xiu figured he might as well spend the idle time investigating.
Judging by the degree of collapse, this house must have been destroyed by external forces. Combined with its poor construction, the interior was in shambles, with moldy and decayed furniture; the wooden table had rotted away, and the drawers crumbled at a touch.
After circling around, he didn’t find any place that could store gemstones—no sign of a safe or anything like that.
Thinking about it, that’s reasonable; the place had been abandoned for who knows how many years, surely many had visited, and anything precious would have been long scavenged. Rather than waste time, he’d do better to rest and consider how to escape the magical creature siege.
"Move again and I’ll kill you." Li Xiu squeezed the thing inside the bag to keep it quiet, stop its restless movements.
Unfortunately, the thing inside didn’t understand human language and continued wriggling incessantly, trying to escape from the bag.
Glimpsing at the situation outside, more magical creatures were gathering around the building. Some tried climbing from behind but were swiftly dealt with by the Jedi Knight and Demigod Shana.
The Knight of Chrysanthemum stood guard in the front, unafraid in the face of the magical creatures swarming him.
Of course, that’s because he wasn’t particularly bright, just a tool; with any real intelligence, he’d likely have defected long ago.
"Hopefully Sha Chu can win," Li Xiu thought, having encountered many magical creatures before. He knew that these magical beings outside weren’t genuine magical creatures but split entities from the one battling Sha Chu.
Li Xiu had faced magical creatures with splitting powers multiple times in the past, even ones stronger than this one’s ability.
The magical creature had summoned split entities almost like a sea of magical spirits; had Li Xiu not acted swiftly to eliminate them, the whole city might have been devoured, leaving not even a speck.
The splitting entities of this magical creature were much weaker than the original, clearly lacking power—much weaker than those Li Xiu had previously encountered.
Once the main body of the magical creature is eliminated, these split entities would rapidly age and die, so it all depended on Sha Chu’s effectiveness.
Staring at the swarm of split entities outside, Li Xiu suddenly froze.
He noticed an odd phenomenon; besides this building, there were a few others not far away.
These buildings, like shoddy bungalows, were even more dilapidated but similarly made of reinforced concrete.
Previously, Li Xiu believed these split entities could only emerge from the soil, as reinforced concrete seemed to affect their abilities, explaining his refuge here.
His hypothesis was confirmed; those split entities indeed couldn’t emerge from beneath the concrete foundation of this building.
But now Li Xiu discovered that, surprisingly, the buildings not far away had magical creatures drilling through the concrete surfaces, which, like adjacent soil, seemed to have become soft and sticky.
Even the buildings’ walls and roofs seemed to melt like chocolate, slowly flowing downward.
"Why is this house unaffected by the magical power? Could there be something special about it?" Li Xiu wondered, finding it unusual.
Li Xiu stood up and carefully examined this ragged house again—a two-story building with five or six rooms per floor, making about ten rooms in total, with the second floor nearly collapsing, but the first floor relatively intact.
Li Xiu’s current room, the second on the left of the first floor, was where he found the bones.
The rooms weren’t connecting suites, just old-style flats, with access to other rooms possible only from outside, while the stairs to the second floor were outside.
Carrying the bagged thing, Li Xiu exited the room, making the magical creatures outside screech upon sighting him, surging as if ready to engulf him at any moment.
"Come at me, and I’ll kill it." Li Xiu raised the bag in his hand, threatening the magical creatures fiercely.
He knew these magical beings could understand—not them directly, but their main body could, as they shared vision and hearing with their split entities.
Indeed, frightened by Li Xiu’s threat, the magical entities quieted significantly, only calling out from afar, not daring to approach.
Li Xiu navigated the mess near the doorway, entering the leftmost room on the ground floor.
After circling around, he found nothing of value.
Li Xiu checked other rooms, the situation mostly a mess, lacking anything of worth.
However, Li Xiu noticed something odd; the three rooms on the left were normal, but the floors of the two rooms on the right were somewhat soft, seemingly influenced by the magical forces.
Especially the rightmost room’s floor had turned soft and sticky, even allowing magical creatures to emerge, only to be swiftly sliced into halves by the Jedi Knight following Li Xiu.
"This house indeed has issues; the force affecting the room must be within my previous room. If it were in the third room, the right two rooms should also be affected, but they’re not. Now, only the right two rooms change, with greater magical force influence as you go further right, clearly indicating there’s a problem." Li Xiu returned to the second room on the left, reengaging in searches.
