Weird Rules Rumor: At The Beginning, He Insisted That He Was Not Dead
Chapter 187: Landen Detective Agency (15)

The gazes of the two men met, and a strange silence fell over the room.

"..."

"..."

How was he supposed to explain having so many items?

It was too late to back out now.

If he told the truth, he would be stripped bare, even losing his pants.

Xu Yaowen swore that if he had a second chance, he would never have uttered those words.

As he wracked his brain, a message from his brother appeared in the chat.

【Xu Tian (General): Remember, besides what I told you, don't say another word. And absolutely do not suggest acting together, understand?】

【Xu Yaowen (Disciple): Brother, you're too late.】

【Xu Tian (General): What do you mean? (questioning face)】

【Xu Yaowen (Disciple): I already told him I want to act together.】

【Xu Tian (General): And? Did he agree?】

Xu Yaowen felt his head itch. Sending the message, his heart pounded as if he were dancing on a knife's edge.

【Xu Yaowen (Disciple): No, I also said I have a lot of items and won't be a burden.】

【Xu Tian (General): ...】

There was no need to continue; Xu Tian understood everything.

"Idiot, idiot! I explained it to you word for word, and you still screwed up! It's a wonder our father didn't disown you!"

At the Arnold Guild headquarters, Xu Tian was so enraged he wanted to smash the table.

The moment Xu Yaowen saw Bai Liang, he immediately messaged him.

To save his foolish younger brother, he had used every last bit of his rapidly diminishing brainpower.

It was no exaggeration to say that Xu Tian had tried harder than in any dungeon!

Even a pig could have managed it by simply repeating what he said.

But Xu Yaowen, that loser, still managed to spill the beans!

After a short outburst, Xu Tian forced himself to calm down.

He immediately messaged Xu Yaowen:

【Xu Tian (General): Ask him right now, if he likes any of your items, tell him to take them. They're going to waste on you anyway, better he keeps them.】

【Xu Yaowen (Disciple): Really give everything away?】

【Xu Tian (General): You didn't have to before, but now you do. You idiot, don't come up with any more ideas!】

What could he do? He only had one younger brother.

If he, as the older brother, didn't look after him, he might not even make it back to the headquarters.

In the attic, Xu Yaowen finally breathed a sigh of relief after reading his brother's instructions.

Handing over a pile of valuable items and seeing Bai Liang's satisfied smile, he knew everything was alright.

Thanks to this incident, he learned a small lesson: never flaunt your wealth, or you'll be fleeced clean.

Especially not in front of someone like Bai Liang.

As for the suggestion of acting together, Bai Liang didn't agree, and Xu Yaowen didn't press the issue.

He was truly terrified. It was better to clear this dungeon quickly and stay far away from Bai Liang.

As the saying goes, "being close to a ruler is like being close to a tiger." And in Xu Yaowen's eyes, Bai Liang was far scarier than a tiger.

When Xu Yaowen went downstairs, Toni came up to the attic with a book in his hands.

"Are you finished?" he glanced at Xu Yaowen descending the stairs and asked casually.

"Yeah."

Bai Liang replied, noticing the book in his hands: "Mr. Toni, what have you got there?"

Hearing the question, Toni quickly approached, his voice filled with excitement: "I was just about to tell you. I was rummaging through the bookshelf downstairs and found something interesting in this book."

Saying this, he sat opposite Bai Liang, opened the book to a specific page, turned it, and pushed it towards Bai Liang:

"These are records of supernatural events that happened in this city before. I found something unusual connected to that red eye. I think we can find clues or even answers here!"

Bai Liang took the book, his gaze falling on the first line, and he frowned, looking up at Toni.

Toni finished speaking, and Bai Liang lowered his eyes again.

Karwen City – The Eye of God.

1903. A meteorite fell from the sky, destroying many homes in the eastern part of the city. Thousands died. When rescuers arrived at the scene, they saw a massive crater.

Initially, people thought it was just a regular meteorite impact. However, when rescuers descended to the bottom of the crater, they saw a gigantic eye, made of flesh and blood. Everything became strange.

To avoid panic, rescuers sealed the eye and handed it over to the police. That same night, the eye disappeared. The next morning, it was discovered that all the police officers had vanished. The police station was empty. After a long investigation, the case remained unsolved and had to be closed...

1953. After dark, strange shadows began to appear on the streets. Some people saw their faces and noticed they resembled those who had disappeared fifty years prior.

The next morning, everything returned to normal, and the missing people never reappeared.

2003. All cameras in Karwen City failed at six in the evening. Some people saw strange creatures rapidly flying through the sewers. One photographer accidentally captured them, but the photo was blurry, showing only something round...

"All these events began with a meteorite that fell from the sky. And this meteorite was actually a huge eye of flesh and blood."

"I interviewed some witnesses. Here are their words:"

Survivor – Member of the rescue team:

"1903... That was so long ago, I hardly remember anything anymore."

"I was a member of the rescue team. Now, I'm the only one left of us all."

"We were wrong, we shouldn't have touched it. We should have left it there, buried it, and then nothing would have happened!"

"He is the devil, he is a god, he is Satan, risen from the abyss!"

"No, no, don't talk about him anymore!!!"

Witness – Citizen Lisa:

"Oh, you're asking about that night in '53?"

"Young man, those creatures just appeared on the street. They came out of the shadows and scared us to death!"

"They say they looked exactly like those people who disappeared from the police station years ago. It was even in the newspapers."

"I noticed one of them was very close to me. He didn't look like a living person, more like a corpse."

"I don't remember anything else. I think I fell asleep afterward, and when I woke up, I was lying on the street and was sick for several days."
