A sharp, ear-splitting shriek burst from Will's mouth. It wasn't his usual voice, but rather the voice of a demon ripped straight from hell.

Toni almost instantly aimed his pistol at Will, the tension etched on his face revealing a hint of nervousness.

According to the standard script, Will should have now used his superpower, and a fierce battle would have erupted between them.

After all, by the law of "good always triumphs over evil," Will would either die by his hand or Bai Liang's.

Of course, Toni leaned towards the latter, as Bai Liang looked more like the protagonist.

However, the expected development didn't occur. After uttering those words, Will suddenly opened his eyes wide.

Then, his eye, glowing with a red light, burst from its socket, leaving a bloody trail. This gory scene nearly made Toni vomit his lunch!

When the red eye detached, Will lost all signs of life, as if his soul had been ripped out, and his body could no longer hold up, collapsing onto the floor!

BAM!

No one paid attention to Will's fate now. Toni and Bai Liang focused on the eyeball suspended in mid-air.

"This... what the hell is this?"

Gazing at the disgusting eye, Toni swallowed. His limited experience offered no explanation for what was happening.

An eyeball that detached from a body and hovered in the air?

BAM!

He still fired. The bullet flew accurately towards the eyeball.

The eye easily dodged the bullet, glanced at Bai Liang, and then exploded!

THWUP!

"Fuah~!" Toni let out a sigh of relief, turned, and smirked: "Hey, Bai Liang, looks like this thing isn't that scary after all. One shot was enough."

It seems you don't understand what's going on at all... Bai Liang shook his head, not wanting to shatter Toni's newfound confidence, and walked over to Will's body.

After a careful inspection, he turned to Toni: "What are you going to do next?"

Toni holstered his pistol, walked over, put his hands on his hips, and frowned: "Chief Blaney is too bored; he needs some work."

...

"I'm truly grateful to you!" Chief Blaney, summoned by Toni over the phone, stared at Will's body on the floor, his face streaked with black lines.

He turned to Toni, who stood by the door smoking, and asked: "Toni, what exactly is happening?"

"I needed to solve this case quickly, and you're only making it more complicated!"

Two dead Wills had already driven Chief Blaney mad, and now Toni had found another one in half a day, clearly a fresh one.

"Honestly, Blaney, I still can't quite grasp what's happening," Toni exhaled a puff of smoke, his voice growing serious: "I can only say that this case is far from over; this is just the beginning."

"I can tell you that Will isn't dead; this is merely a part of him."

What?

Chief Blaney grew increasingly confused, giving Toni a strange look: "Toni, I completely trust you with this investigation, but you must give me a satisfactory answer."

Toni nodded: "I know. You won't be able to solve this case yourselves, because not quite ordinary things are involved here."

"What do you mean?"

Toni looked around and mysteriously asked: "Blaney, do you believe there are gods in this world?"

"Are you saying you've seen God?"

"No, no, I've seen the devil, the very one from the myths!" Toni said this with complete seriousness.

Blaney decided he was just spouting nonsense: "Toni, I think you should go to the hospital. I'm concerned about your mental state."

"You don't believe me?"

Toni turned away: "I knew you wouldn't believe me. I knew it."

Then he remembered something, turned back, and pointed at the body on the floor: "This is a fact, Chief Blaney."

Blaney fell silent. He truly couldn't explain how the same person died and then came back to life again.

"Mr. Toni."

At that moment, Bai Liang walked in from the street and told Toni: "I think it's time for us to return to the agency."

It was already four in the afternoon, and factoring in an hour's journey, they would reach the agency by five.

And according to the rules, they had to clock in before six in the evening.

"Right."

Toni nodded, turned to Blaney, and said: "Blaney, don't worry, I'll get to the bottom of this case and give you a satisfactory answer."

When they returned to the agency, it was already five o'clock. Toni and Bai Liang took their employee cards and clocked in at the terminal.

"Mr. Toni, since we can clock in at five and leave, can't we just clock in at the beginning of the workday and leave immediately?"

Bai Liang, looking at the time on the terminal, turned to Toni, who was pouring water, and asked.

Toni poured two glasses of water, handed one to Bai Liang, took his own, took a sip, and replied: "I wouldn't advise that. The director's limit is five o'clock."

"If you cross that line, a size 43 boot print might appear on your face tomorrow."

Upon hearing this, Bai Liang shrugged: "Alright, I was just thinking out loud."

The agency was noisy. Besides Bai Liang and Toni, there were about a dozen other people, mostly rookies, with only a few old detectives.

Toni glanced at a figure in the corner and nudged Bai Liang with his elbow: "Did you notice that guy? Ever since we came in, he's been covering himself with a newspaper, and that's not how a rookie acts."

Bai Liang looked in the indicated direction and saw the person in the corner covering themselves with a newspaper, as if afraid of being noticed.

Suddenly, he lowered the newspaper, revealing a handsome face beneath itit was Xu Yaowen.

He looked at Bai Liang, then stood up and headed towards them.

"Why is he coming towards us?" Toni was a little puzzled.

Bai Liang remained calm, observing Xu Yaowen's serious face. He took a sip of water, wanting to understand what he was planning.

"Mr. Bai Liang, I think we should talk."

Xu Yaowen approached, first glanced at Toni, then addressed Bai Liang.

"What do you want to talk about?" Bai Liang asked indifferently.

"There might be a misunderstanding between us." Xu Yaowen, steeling himself, began: "I'm not intentionally against you. I got into this dungeon world because of one thing!"

Bai Liang watched him coolly, but inwardly he was a little puzzled.

This guy is that smart?

He surrendered immediately?
