An illusion? When did all of this begin?

Fang Zhiyi stared at Bai Liang, who lay completely unharmed on the bed, utterly bewildered.

She was certain she hadn't made a single mistake. She had even taken his lazy and carefree nature into account, intending to exploit it to her advantage. Yet, in the end, she had still failed!

“When did you notice something was amiss?” Fang Zhiyi narrowed her eyes, fixing her gaze on Bai Liang, trying to discern the answer from his expression.

Bai Liang averted his gaze from her, looking at the book in his hands, and slowly said:

“Your acting has too many flaws. Even I, someone who only recently started interacting with Fang Zhiyi, know exactly what she's like. And you, without even truly seeing her, decided you knew her better than me?”

Fang Zhiyi lifted her chin and snorted:

“You've only spent one day together, and you already think you know her well? Ridiculous.”

“I admit, your illusion was excellent. Even I fell for it for a moment.”

With these words, she raised a hand and removed the mask from her face, revealing a seductive, fox-like visage.

“I have another question. If you suspected something beforehand, why didn't you dodge when I pounced on you? Weren't you afraid that under this mask would be a man's face?”

Bai Liang looked up and met her gaze:

“Didn't the information your organization gave you state that I never come out at a loss?”

“That's impossible!” The woman seemed to realize something, and her face froze in alarm. “This artifact blocks all perceptions! Even other A-class artifacts couldn't detect it. How did you know?”

Bai Liang extended a hand, pointed to his eyes, and turning to her, calmly said:

“You should believe that even without artifacts, I can see right through you. Including your blue and white striped underwear.”

The woman instinctively lowered her head, then, looking up, her eyes reflected confusion and surprise.

Bai Liang closed his book, got up from the bed, unhurriedly put on his shoes, and looking at the woman, calmly said:

“To be honest, I've never cared about people like you, these rats. I have no interest in playing cat and mouse. But you, like flies drawn to a scent...” Bai Liang suddenly realized the comparison wasn't entirely appropriate, and corrected himself: “You, like moths to a flame, recklessly rush forward. Are you truly not afraid of getting burned?”

The woman's cheeks flushed slightly; she tugged at the hem of her nightgown and said:

“The world of anomalies is cruel; it's either you or me. So why waste time on superfluous talk?”

“Thanks for the reminder,” Bai Liang smiled, as if he had just realized something profound. Above his head, a floating Death Eye appeared.

Seeing that enormous, emotionless eye, the woman felt an internal alarm. Nervously chuckling, she tried to smooth things over:

“Excuse me, it seems I raised my voice a little. Perhaps that caused a misunderstanding for you. Mr. Bai, perhaps we could talk a bit more?”

“Forgive me, but I've suddenly changed my mind about talking to you,” Bai Liang said.

Not wanting to simply perish, the woman conjured a Voodoo Doll from thin air. But before she could use it, a hand appeared behind her and snatched the doll away.

“Didn't I tell you, what makes you think you're dealing with my real body?” Bai Liang was already standing beside her, holding the doll in his hand, looking with a mocking smile at the bewildered woman.

【Hahaha, that trick again! Mr. Bai never disappoints!】

【Woman: Which one is real? I can't tell anymore!】

【Not just her, I can't figure out where Mr. Bai's real body is either. Perhaps from the very beginning, he was already out of our sight, and everything happening is just an illusion he created!】

【What are these people even thinking? Deciding to oppose the White God? Is this cheat character someone ordinary players can handle?】

【Guard against fire, thieves, and the White God! To touch him is death. There's no way to come into contact with him.】

【A warning to everyone: once you enter the world of anomalies, steer clear of the White God. Under no circumstances should you cross paths with him, or you won't even realize how he's tricked you!】

...

“You... you...”

The woman stared at Bai Liang sitting nearby, then at Bai Liang by the bed. Her mind completely froze in that moment.

"I should be under the car, not in the car!"

"What is this organization even doing? Why did no one even mention that he has such insane abilities? This is a direct betrayal of comrades!"

Alas, she had no more time to ponder this.

Whoosh!

Rays of Annihilation pierced through the air, and she completely vanished from this world.

【Name】: Ke Tianxing

【Age】: 26 years old

【Profession】: Half-Fox (Level 2)

【Organization】: Giant Beast Alliance

“What a trash organization. Do they send such incompetent people?” Bai Liang glanced at the woman's information and shook his head in dissatisfaction.

The Giant Beast Alliance was one of the five leading player organizations.

According to information obtained from Li Xin, this alliance only accepted professions related to animals.

For example, professions related to dragons and phoenixes were considered elite within the Giant Beast Alliance. Meanwhile, those associated with domestic animals, like cows and horses, occupied the lower ranks.

This "Half-Fox" profession sounds decent, but her assassination training level was clearly too low. She could only camouflage herself, and even with that, she was exposed at first glance.

...

At the Professional Trading Center, within the headquarters of the Giant Beast Alliance on North Street, a loud roar echoed from an office, accompanied by the sound of smashing objects.

Within the headquarters, many members of the organization turned their gazes toward the office at the far end of the corridor, wondering what had set their captain off this time.

“Damn it, my little sweetie was killed!”

Inside the office, the captain of the Giant Beast Alliance, Beipo, stood with a face distorted by rage, pressing both hands against the table. Fragments of a shattered stemmed glass lay nearby.

Two long horns darkened on his head, his nose was adorned with a golden ring, and thick brown fur covered his body, resembling a human-bull hybrid.

“Hahahaha! I told you: don't mess with him now, it's still too early. But you didn't listen to me! You played yourself!”

Opposite him sat a slightly corpulent man, laughing heartily, tightly clutching a glass of red wine in his hands.

Hearing that mocking laughter, Beipo snorted, white steam erupted from his nostrils, and his eyes reddened with anger:

“Xia Dongze, what are you so happy about? Don't think I don't know how your two generals from the Professional Association died in the Genetic Tower!”

“And I merely lost one toy. What are you laughing at?”

Xia Dongze's laughter abruptly ceased. He took a sip of wine and replied grimly:

“Don't you dare remind me of those two clowns! If they hadn't died in that dungeon, I would have dealt with them personally!”

Every time he recalled Zi Yunfeng and Pei Zhixin, whom he called "sleeping dragon and young phoenix," his head began to ache.

Even now, he couldn't decide whether to regret their deaths in the dungeon or to rejoice.

Beipo snorted, but stopped his taunts, instead saying with a serious expression:

“It seems we won't be able to stop him. Although Ke Tianxing wasn't particularly strong, her assassin skills were quite impressive. If even she failed, then even if we intervened personally, it's not certain we could kill him.”

Xia Dongze sensed something amiss:

“Are you still planning to oppose him? Aren't the casualties enough? Have you lost your mind to such an extent that you want to keep sacrificing people?”
