Weird Rules Rumor: At The Beginning, He Insisted That He Was Not Dead -
Chapter 135: Healing Town (12)
“What do you mean, ‘fifty billion is too much’? Do you even hear the nonsense you’re spouting?”
“Beep!”
“Transfer of... yuan successful!”
“I want you to buy this hospital as quickly as possible. Can you handle it?” Bai Liang asked, holding his Black Card and addressing Fang Zhiyi with a serious expression.
“The money’s already arrived?” Fang Zhiyi felt a little dizzy. Fifty billion... Said it, transferred it! “Does he treat money like joss paper?”
“Of course, I’ll do everything perfectly and won’t let you down!” Fang Zhiyi promised with an utterly serious expression. Now, she at least had a vague understanding of Bai Liang’s wealth.
Why “vague,” exactly? Because in her entire life, she hadn't seen even a fraction of such money. Fifty billion... She would have needed a long time just to get used to a sum of one billion!
With her modest financial experience, it was hard to imagine anyone so casually transferring fifty billion.
Tsou Wei, standing nearby, was also wide-eyed. She had never expected Bai Liang to casually drop fifty billion so easily.
A thought even flashed through her mind: “Maybe I asked for too little back then?”After all, for him, spending fifty billion was like her spending five hundred yuan. No, it was even easier than spending five hundred yuan! Perhaps, to him, one billion and one yuan were almost the same thing.
After receiving the money, Fang Zhiyi immediately left, intending to carry out Bai Liang’s instruction as quickly as possible and thereby prove her professional competence.
However, only a couple of minutes passed before she returned.
Bai Liang had just gotten up from his wheelchair, preparing to lie down and rest for a bit. Seeing Fang Zhiyi enter the ward, he thoughtfully raised an eyebrow:
“That fast?”
Maybe ten minutes had passed since she left. Since when did buying a hospital become a ten-minute affair?
“That deputy chief doctor learned I wanted to buy the hospital and immediately contacted the chief doctor. He’s waiting right outside the door nowhere are the documents for the transfer of shares,” Fang Zhiyi replied, handing Bai Liang the share transfer agreement and smiling radiantly.
Bai Liang glanced at the document and found no hidden catches in it:
“It seems this chief doctor has long wanted to sell the hospital and prepared the papers in advance. He just couldn’t find a buyer.”
Fang Zhiyi shook her head:
“Sir, don’t forget that the power of money is immense. If you have enough of it, printing a share transfer agreement in ten minutes is no problem.”
“You’re right. And I just happen to be someone with plenty of money,” Bai Liang chuckled. “Call him in.”
It seemed the person outside the door was already itching with impatience. The moment Bai Liang uttered those words, he couldn’t hold back and opened the door himself.
A middle-aged man entered, wearing a White Lab Coat and black-framed Spectacles. He had a classic “island” bald spota neat “sun” on the crown of his head. His face, shiny with grease, broke into a warm smile.
He briskly approached Bai Liang’s bed, extending a hand for a greeting:
“Mr. Bai, I’ve heard so much about you, heard so much!”
“Oh pleaseI’ve only been in this world (dungeon) for a day, where would rumors come from?” a thought flashed through Bai Liang’s mind. He didn’t shake the extended hand, merely gave a slight nod and a polite smile:
“Chief Doctor, how should I address you?”
“My surname is Gu. You can call me ‘Xiao Gu,’” he replied, trying to maintain a modest demeanor, for he clearly understood that he was facing a walking “gold mine”: anyone who casually dropped fifty billion like that was truly a “living God of Wealth.”
“I’ll stick with Chief Doctor Gu,” Bai Liang chuckled. Calling someone who was clearly no longer young “Xiao Gu” (implying “Little Gu”) seemed odd, to say the least.
“As you wish, Mr. Bai,” the chief doctor didn’t object, then clarified: “I heard you want to buy our hospital?”
“Yes,” Bai Liang nodded. “If you agree, we can sign the agreement right now, and the money will be in your account immediately.”
“Of course, I agree!” Chief Doctor Gu practically beamed with happiness.
The contract signing went smoothly. From that moment on, Bai Liang became the true owner of ‘Ya’an Hospital’. Everyone working there was now his employee.
After signing the papers, the satisfied Chief Doctor Gu stood opposite Bai Liang, who then asked him a question:
“Chief Gu, there’s something I’d like to clarify with you.”
“Yes, please, ask away!”
“Who are the people guarding the basement of this hospital?” Bai Liang needed to clarify the details, as this depended on whether he could complete the task faster.
Upon hearing the question, Chief Doctor Gu pondered for a moment and replied:
“While it’s not entirely according to the Rules, since the hospital is yours now, you have the right to know. These people are not listed among our staff. They belong to some patients from the VIP wards. But as for their purposes, I’m sorry, but I cannot say.”
Evidently, he knew what was going on but chose to remain silent. It seemed some serious secret was involved.
“Chief Gu, if you speak, I’ll immediately transfer another fifty billion to you,” Bai Liang offered.
If a problem could be solved with money, then it wasn’t a problem!
Chief Doctor Gu took a deep breath, and his face instantly adopted a stern expression:
“Mr. Bai, your fifty billion is certainly very tempting, but I truly cannot speak. Such are the Rules!”
“Rules, then?” Bai Liang thought and nodded, no longer pressing the issue. If the ‘rules’ were involved, then no amount of money would help.
“Zhiyi, transfer the money to Chief Doctor Gu.”
Having received payment, Chief Doctor Gu departed. He was no longer in charge of the hospital and could comfortably retire.
As if having learned of the deal in advance, or perhaps by Gu’s own call, his four deputies soon also gathered in the ward.
“Bring me all the data on the patients from the VIP wards!” Bai Liang commanded.
Since verbal clarification was impossible, he would have to figure it out through their medical records.
“Understood, boss!”
The chief doctor’s deputies acted swiftly and soon returned with a hefty stack of photographs and personal files.
Bai Liang began to examine them one by one.
The first picture showed a withered, emaciated old man, lying on a cot with a tangle of tubes and a breathing apparatus beside him.
The card indicated:
Chang Lixin, male, the wealthiest man in Muda'er City. Suffering from severe heart disease and kidney failure. Heart and kidney transplant surgeries are necessary...
Upon seeing this entry, Bai Liang’s gaze involuntarily hardened. He suddenly realized the meaning of those flashes that had appeared upon entering the ‘dungeon,’ and understood why players, after loading in, could be said to have ‘no organs left inside them.’
“What a cursed dungeon...” he murmured and continued to look through the files.
The second photograph also showed an old man, who by all indications, needed organ transplants.
Bai Liang put down the patient files and turned to Fang Zhiyi:
“Is there a way to throw all of them in jail?”
“Umm...” Before Fang Zhiyi could answer, he added:
“No, actually, jailing them is too lenient. It’s better to send them straight to hell.”
Upon hearing these words, Tsou Wei remarked with a slight smile:
“So, Mr. Bai, you are a man with a strong spirit of justice?”
Bai Liang glanced at her:
“You’re mistaken. I merely imagined my organs potentially going to these old scoundrels, and it frankly disgusted me.”
