Chapter 1707: Chapter 1707: Black Fog

A moment later, on the way to the Star Palace in the sky.

Gou Ye looked indignantly at the little sapling lying on Jiang Xiaobai’s shoulder.

"Damn thing! Back in the day, when Gou Ye ruled the Heavenly Court, I could swagger through the four heavenly gates without any resistance, and now you, a mere shrub, dare lay hands on me?"

"The world is truly degenerating—where’s the morality gone?"

Jiang Xiaobai rolled his eyes: "Dog Bro, given how fierce you were back in those days, could it be you owe your gall to True Lord’s favor?"

"Impossible! Gou Ye was ranked as the number one spiritual pet in the Heavenly Court! Those other spirit pets—puny things—couldn’t compete with me!"

"Let that sapling down; Gou Ye wants to battle it for three hundred rounds!"

Gou Ye said angrily.

"Or maybe those spirit beasts left you alone because of True Lord,"

Su Mei interjected, looking amusedly at Gou Ye.

She couldn’t believe that the loyal helper beside True Lord turned out to be such a goofy character.

"Impossible!" Gou Ye immediately refuted, though feeling less certain, he added again: "Absolutely impossible!"

Jiang Xiaobai had lost interest and looked off into the distance, pondering the identity of the woman in the white space.

First of all, she definitely knew him, and she had explicitly said she was "watching a show!"

What kind of show? Watching him, Mr. Jiang, defy destiny and end up crushed to death?

But it felt off, especially since that woman had forcibly enhanced Jiang Xiaobai’s strength!

Woman, yellow-robed elder, Heavenly Palace...

Suddenly, a series of events and powers connected in Jiang Xiaobai’s mind; he had also come across two supreme treasures, the Demon Crystal and Divine Crystal.

He felt that he was getting closer and closer to the truth!

"What’s on your mind?"

Su Mei’s voice came from beside him: "Once we reach the Star Palace, are you really going to unite the various factions of the Earth Immortal realm?"

Jiang Xiaobai nodded: "Pretty much. The alien race is about to invade the Earth Immortal realm in a great war; we’ll need allies. Don’t tell me you think I alone can fight off the alien race?"

"Not really, but it does seem highly challenging. You have to know, even those Supremes have previously harbored desires against you."

Su Mei said coolly: "Maybe you should approach it differently—don’t tell them about the alien invasion just yet, and bind them to you with other benefits first?"

"Benefits? What kind of benefits could possibly..."

Jiang Xiaobai spoke and suddenly froze as he flipped his wrist, revealing a key.

This was the key the woman had given him, claiming it was for unlocking the Star Palace’s secret realm.

Suddenly, he remembered the agreement he had made with the Supremes earlier.

"But wouldn’t this be a bit too cheap for them? These Supremes aren’t exactly virtuous characters; crafty old foxes—they might just take the benefit and later turn against us."

Jiang Xiaobai raised a brow: "More importantly, they have the power to turn against us. They’re Supremes—I’m just Primordial Chaos and Boundless; how could I possibly fight back?"

"Don’t be fooled by how fierce I seem sometimes; those guys have truly fused with Heaven’s Dao and succeeded in enlightenment—real Supremes!"

Su Mei stayed silent, as this was indeed a major problem.

After all, Supremes’ strength allowed them to dominate the Earth Immortal realm, and to this day, there were still no traces of unyielding forces stronger than them.

It could be argued that Supremes pretty much ruled the heavens and earth!

If they decided to make a move, all it would take was a single thought.

Yet fighting the alien race without those factions was out of the question.

"What’s there to fear? Just fight them head-on!"

Suddenly, Gou Ye shouted: "Isn’t that sapling of yours crazy strong? Anyone who doesn’t submit—beat them into submission!"

The little sapling swayed the green leaves atop its head, seemingly agreeing with Gou Ye.

Jiang Xiaobai’s mouth twitched.

He felt having a goofy dog by his side was already irritating enough—why was this sapling so hotheaded too?

"Forget it; let’s wait until we get to the Star Palace to decide."

Jiang Xiaobai waved his hand, unwilling to think too much about these issues now; it was too bothersome.

...

Meanwhile, not far from the Star Palace, a group of people was sprinting at full speed.

"Hurry up! If we don’t get to the Star Palace soon, we’re doomed!"

Ao Cheng shouted as he led the group forward.

Qiongyu and Nangong Wuyou brought up the rear, their faces equally grim, occasionally glancing behind them.

Yet, despite frequent glances, nothing could be seen behind them.

The lack of anything only made the group more uneasy!

They pushed themselves harder with desperate speed toward the Star Palace ahead!

Then suddenly, a dark mist emerged from the side and lunged at AnRan in the crowd.

"Holy crap! You’re targeting me just because I’m the fattest, aren’t you?"

AnRan exclaimed, frantically ducking and rolling to dodge the covert attacks from above.

At that moment, Qiongyu’s black sword energy arrived, slicing the dark mist into two halves!

The mist immediately reformed, showing no trace of damage.

Instead, the attack seemed to have provoked it, as it turned its wrath toward Qiongyu, lunging fiercely at her.

"You go! I’ll hold it off!"

Qiongyu gripped her sword spirit tightly, releasing the power of dark laws. A pitch-black space descended, trapping her and the mist inside.

Seeing this, the others could only trust Qiongyu and sprint desperately forward.

Within the dark space, relentless screeches echoed, the tremors never ceasing!

Suddenly, the space ruptured, and Qiongyu tumbled out, covered in blood and looking utterly defeated.

Without hesitation, she attempted to flee, but the mist surged out from the fissure, menacingly chasing her.

Though they had almost reached the Star Palace Sword Sect unscathed, an eerie sight greeted them as they passed through a valley—corpses scattered everywhere, blood flowing like rivers!

The dark mist that haunted them originated from this ghastly scene, a lethal entity immune to all attacks, capable only of being delayed.

It seemed to have made them its sole targets, pursuing them relentlessly for three consecutive days!

This time, Qiongyu had fought to buy time for Ao Cheng and the others to escape, but the corrosive power of the mist had severely injured her.

Every step she took brought searing pain to her entire body; even her internal organs had begun to show traces of black mist, leaving her deeply alarmed.

Was this the end?

As the mist closed in behind her, Qiongyu gritted her teeth and prepared for a desperate final clash with her sword spirit.

Suddenly, a beam of golden light descended from the heavens, revealing a majestic Daoist hovering mid-air!

"Vile spawn! You dare act so impudently near my Star Palace? Prepare to die!"

The Daoist wielded an unknown object emitting dazzling golden light, which he directed at the mist.

At first, the golden light effectively diminished the mist, drastically shrinking its form upon impact.

This seemed to enrage the entity, which swelled violently as it unleashed unknown powers, engulfing and consuming the Daoist completely!

Crunching and chewing sounds emanated from the mist, sending chills down Qiongyu’s spine!

Without looking back, Qiongyu bolted away!

Fortunately, the Daoist’s intervention bought her valuable time; she rejoined Ao Cheng and the others, and at last, the Star Palace appeared before them!

At that moment, three brilliant golden figures shot into the sky, heading directly toward the mist’s location!
