Wedding Night: I Am Forced To Marry A Dragon Girl -
Chapter 1665: Jiang Xiaobai Appears!
Chapter 1665: Chapter 1665: Jiang Xiaobai Appears!
Traveling while hurrying along the way is undoubtedly slower, and Jiang Xiaobai didn’t want to risk the treasures in that hidden land being taken first by others.
After all, that was the key artifact necessary for helping the many divine officials from the Investiture of the Gods reappear in the mortal realm. There could be no room for error!
After rushing for three days, they finally arrived at Xiniu Hezhou. Both had already put on special masks, and with Jiang Xiaobai’s help, Ao Yan also altered her aura.
It was still unclear what the external situation might be, so taking precautions seemed wise.
The two settled into an inn and were now enjoying some delicious food by the window on the third floor.
"The food in the Earth Immortal Realm is indeed much better than the lower realms. The spirit beasts and magical beasts here grow in vastly different environments, making their meat exceptionally tender!"
Ao Yan took a bite of the freshly served stir-fried meat slices, closing her eyes in blissful satisfaction.
But in the very next moment, she looked toward Jiang Xiaobai. "Still, this cook’s skills are truly no match for my husband’s!"
Jiang Xiaobai beamed with happiness. "If my wife loves it, then I’ll cook for you every day from now on."
After enjoying a bit more of the delicacies and downing a pot of wine, Ao Yan’s cheeks turned slightly red as she leaned contentedly against Jiang Xiaobai’s shoulder.
"Xiaobai, once we’re done with all this, let’s find a little world somewhere and open a small inn."
"You’ll be the chef, and I’ll be your manager. Qiongyu, that girl, would make a great assistant, and Wuyou’s carefree personality makes her perfect for delivering dishes."
Ao Yan counted on her fingers, "Ao Cheng, though, that kid just can’t sit still. He definitely wouldn’t suit working out front. Let’s make him the bouncer. If anyone causes trouble at the shop, he can beat them to a pulp."
Jiang Xiaobai protested. "Oh, come on, the way you say that makes it sound like your husband isn’t strong enough. Once we’re done here, we’ll at least become Immortal Emperors, won’t we? By then, who could possibly withstand even one of my sword strikes?"
Hearing this, Ao Yan couldn’t help but burst into laughter. The way she covered her mouth as she giggled was utterly enchanting, leaving Jiang Xiaobai momentarily stunned.
"What’s the matter? Even after all these years, you still haven’t seen enough of me?" Ao Yan propped herself on Jiang Xiaobai’s shoulder, their noses nearly touching.
Jiang Xiaobai gently pinched Ao Yan’s cheek. "Nope, I could never see enough—this lifetime won’t be long enough to satisfy me."
"Sweet talker..."
Ao Yan rolled her eyes and teasingly pulled away, though her gaze was filled with happiness.
She wished so dearly that moments like this could last forever.
But Ao Yan also understood: the road ahead would only grow more perilous, more terrifying.
Unconsciously, Ao Yan clenched her fist.
There was something she had been hiding from Jiang Xiaobai—during her coma, she hadn’t just received some of the ancestral dragon’s memory inheritance. She had also learned of a way to rapidly enhance her strength.
But it was exceedingly dangerous.
Staring at her own hands, Ao Yan was all too aware that even a so-called Immortal Sovereign was hardly enough now.
"Forget it. Until the very last moment, I can’t take such risks. I just couldn’t bear losing him..."
Ao Yan gritted her teeth silently in her heart.
Jiang Xiaobai didn’t notice her unusual behavior. His attention was on the many cultivators walking along the street outside. One after another, they were discussing the enormous mountain range in the sky.
This was the most remarkable event in history. Who wouldn’t be curious about what lay inside?
"Did you hear? Yesterday, the experts from the Bull Demon Sect apparently met with an envoy from the Heavenly Palace. After an initial evaluation, it seems the mountain range will be accessible in just three days!"
"Really? I’ve been here for days and nothing’s happened so far."
"If it were just the Bull Demon Sect, I wouldn’t believe it, but with the Heavenly Palace involved, how could it be fake?"
"Ah, it’s just a pity that this commotion has attracted so many forces. Even the supreme powers have been alarmed—there are rumors they’ve already arrived, and even the Dragon Palace has sent people."
"What? Experts from the Dragon Palace are here too? Then how are us nobodies supposed to survive? We won’t even get a scrap!"
"The kicker is, I heard some news: a long-forgotten power has resurfaced. It’s called something like the Pawnshop or whatever. Even the supreme powers have to show them respect!"
Outside, discussions continued nonstop, spilling over into the inn itself.
Jiang Xiaobai casually listened, his mind momentarily dazed.
"The Pawnshop? Baihe?"
That guy had shown up here too? Or perhaps he already knew that this was a contingency left behind by the Heavenly Court’s experts?
Jiang Xiaobai continued eavesdropping and was surprised to find that there was a Pawnshop branch nearby!
"As the rightful young master of the Pawnshop, I should at least drop by for a look, right?"
Just as Jiang Xiaobai was pondering this, a figure suddenly sat down across from them.
The two instantly tensed, donning their masks and locking eyes with the intruder. At the slightest wrong move, they were ready to strike.
"Relax. The Emperor sent me to see you."
The stranger smiled faintly and looked at Jiang Xiaobai. "Young Master, the Emperor instructed that three days from now, you should head to the eastern side of the mountain range. He’ll be waiting for you there."
"You’re certain the mountain range will open in three days?" Jiang Xiaobai asked.
"Of course. The Emperor is all-knowing."
Jiang Xiaobai scoffed. "Oh, please. If he’s so all-knowing, why doesn’t he tell me what exactly happened in ancient times?"
"Uh..."
The Pawnshop emissary was visibly stunned, clearly not expecting Jiang Xiaobai to ask such a question.
Jiang Xiaobai didn’t bother teasing him further and simply nodded. "Got it. See you in three days."
"I’ll take my leave now. Oh, right—there’s one more thing. The Emperor said not to expose your whereabouts, and also mentioned that the Demon Empress of the Palace of the Demon Emperor, Lin YaoYao, is very important. He hopes you’ll reach out to her more often."
With that, the man left, leaving Jiang Xiaobai sitting there utterly puzzled.
Lin YaoYao is very important?
Had he not brought it up, Jiang Xiaobai would’ve almost forgotten about that woman he’d been toying with like a monkey!
"Who’s Lin YaoYao?"
At this moment, Ao Yan’s resentful voice rang out beside him. "Oh, Jiang Xiaobai, how long have I been unconscious? And you’ve already racked up another romantic debt?"
"If you don’t explain yourself clearly today, just you wait—I’ll make sure you won’t be able to get out of bed for three days!"
Such punishment would be worse than killing Jiang Xiaobai!
Three days unable to get out of bed?
Just how many storms of fiery battles would that entail?
Jiang Xiaobai’s voice trembled as he quickly offered an explanation, finally managing to appease Ao Yan.
"You’d better know what’s good for you. But let me warn you, Lin YaoYao is just like that other woman. If you dare to contact her willingly, just watch how I’ll deal with you!"
Ao Yan spoke as she cast him another aggrieved look. "Husband, your romantic debts are piling up. Every woman around you is a peerless beauty. Why can’t you just restrain yourself a little?"
"You can’t blame me; meeting them has all been purely accidental."
"Ha! Men—they’re all pigs!"
Ao Yan snorted coldly, turning her head away in deliberate indifference.
Jiang Xiaobai was just about to offer further explanations when a commotion erupted outside. One piece of news sent chills down his spine!
"According to reliable sources, Jiang Xiaobai—the fugitive wanted across all Four Continents—has been spotted!"
